I recently visited the Tractor Supply store in Calimesa, California, to purchase a camping propane bottle for a gas burner, and the experience left me deeply dissatisfied due to the conduct of one of your employees, Jason. His behavior toward both me and other customers was unprofessional and, at times, outright disrespectful.
For instance, the gentleman in front of me, who was purchasing dog food, was subjected to unnecessary and inappropriate comments from Jason. He continuously harassed the customer about perceived oddities within the store, which were irrelevant and uncalled for. After the gentleman had completed his payment, Jason inexplicably delayed his departure for almost 10 minutes, only to then ask if he intended to use a discount code or coupons that could have saved him over $40. Asking about discounts or coupons after the transaction was finalized not only wasted the customer's time but also demonstrated a lack of competence and consideration for customer service.
When it was my turn, Jason's conduct was equally frustrating. Upon scanning my propane, he requested to see my ID. When I inquired why it was necessary, his response was vague and dismissiveāhe simply said, "Well, this," while gesturing ambiguously toward the register screen. This lack of clarity was both confusing and unprofessional.
When I asked if he needed to scan my ID, Jason shrugged again and proceeded to scan it multiple times, visibly growing irritated with the machineās inability to process the transaction as expected. Attempting to assist, I offered to provide my birthdate to expedite the process. However, Jason dismissed my help, stating he didn't trust the information I provided and insisted on verifying it directly from my ID.
To make matters worse, Jason began asking intrusive questions, such as whether I truly resided at the address listed on my ID. This line of questioning crossed personal boundaries and felt entirely inappropriate, especially given the nature of the transactionāa simple propane purchase.
Overall, the encounter lasted over five minutes, and throughout, Jason's demeanor was apathetic, dismissive, and antagonistic. Whether his behavior stemmed from personal issues or a lack of proper training, it created an incredibly negative impression of your store.
This experience has made me seriously reconsider visiting Tractor Supply in the future. If purchasing something as routine as a propane bottle means enduring this level of harassment and inefficiency, I would rather travel 20 minutes out of my way to avoid a similar experience.
