After 16 years of banking with Wells Fargo, I’m deeply disappointed by their recent handling of my accounts. While they did send out notices regarding an address discrepancy, the incompetence of both branch and corporate personnel in resolving the issue was astounding. Despite providing ample proof of my address, including secondary addresses, they continually failed to acknowledge or rectify the situation.
Their misguided invocation of the Patriot Act only added to the frustration. The Patriot Act requires financial institutions to verify the identities of their customers, including verifying their physical addresses. However, it does not stipulate arbitrary closures of accounts without proper cause or resolution. Wells Fargo’s misinterpretation of this legislation demonstrates a lack of understanding and a disregard for customer service.
Overall, the experience with Wells Fargo has been incredibly disheartening. To date, this team could not verify why a manager of The Home Preservation Team refused to work with a Charlotte NC Branch Manager. A manager under my request, asking for copies of received documents from his branch sent by me, the customer.
