Never before have I felt more unwelcome than when I came to the Wrangler in Cheyenne. I came to Cheyenne looking for a new leather jacket, and my first stop was at a Murdoch's, to which I was told they had no leather jackets, but a young lady gave me the recommendation of the Wrangler, which she said was the "biggest leather outlet in Cheyenne". I was thrilled to go into this store and peruse what they had to offer, as well as for a chance to meet my purchasing needs by purchasing locally.
I drove over, parked, and went inside, to which a red haired lady in a blue shirt came to me to ask if I needed help. Now, I normally would be happy just to peruse on my own, I normally prefer that, but seeing as this woman came to me and asked, and that I had been given such a good recommendation, I asked where they had their leather jackets.
Upon seeing me closer and after responding that I was looking for leather jackets (upon a strong recommendation), her tone changed to one of disdain, and reluctance. I really can't imagine why, but it was quite apparent in her tone and body language. She seemed to want rid of me, to cast me out of the store as if I was some unwelcome guest. She said, "We don't really have many leather jackets, we only have one", which she did go and show me, but the whole time her body language and tone suggested that these items were not for someone like me, and that I wasn't an "appropriate customer" to allow within their store.
Now I admit, I am not one who normally dresses in a "western/country" style. I'm not one for cowboy hats or cowboy boots, but I figure western folk must have gained some expertise with leather and I am one who enjoys leather jackets, and I thought I could be pleasantly surprised, even persuaded, to find something in a different style for myself, if it fit the bill. Furthermore, as someone who does not normally get in touch with western culture, I was hopeful for a new perspective to something that's normally unusual to me.
I chose to peruse the store further anyhow, on my own, and during my perusal, I in fact found a number of other leather jackets that the woman neglected to mention. I can't help but think she purposefully left them out, as to "encourage" me to hasten my visit.
Nevertheless, I did end up purchasing a new beanie style hat, but this cold, callous welcome from this individual left a sour taste in my mouth.
Fortunately, the visit was not all like this, for one employee working the counter in the back was very welcoming. While I was waiting in line up front, red headed lady struck again, asking to help the people behind me, rather than myself who had been, but fortunately the lady in the back offered to ring me up. I thank the lady in the back for being a human being. For the lady with red hair, perhaps learn that not everyone fits your idea of "normal", and that there are other human beings in the world. It is for this second employee, that did make me feel welcome, that I didn't give a 1 star rating. But if western culture is anything like this red headed woman presents, perhaps I'm happier to patronize another establishment, outside...
Read moreThey have a lot of boots, but do not carry my size. My husband gave me a gift card a year ago, and I still haven't found but 1 item to buy. I bought a shirt size large. I usually wear a medium. I loved it. fit me great. BUT, I washed in cold water, put in low heat dryer for 5 minutes, it was still wet, but when it dried on a hanger, it is now extra small. It practically shows my belly button. Of course they don't have any more. Their selection of women's clothes is small. they only have a few items of each so you have to buy when they put out. The only summer items were tank tops and short shorts. This evening I went to look around and 5 minutes before closing they checked out the only other person in the store. As soon as she left, the clerk looked at me at the back of the store, looked at the other worker and said "figures" I had no idea when they closed. Before I could walk to the front of the store, lights out in all but the area I was in, music off. I should have just hung out and made them stay, but I didn't feel like dealing with people who were already rude. No announcement, no one said "hey, just so you know we are closing soon" nothing. I'd like to just throw my card away, but it has a lot of money on it....I guess I will save it for another town. I won't go back...
Read moreWe recently shopped at the Wrangler and Boot Barn tent during Cheyenne Frontier Days, which, as locals know, is an incredibly busy event with limited parking—you often end up walking several blocks just to get in.
After shopping, my mom thought she might’ve left her ID at the tent. I tried calling the local Wrangler and Boot Barn stores to ask for help, but was shocked to learn that neither store had any way to contact the tent. I was told it was run by outside contractors, yet we were able to return merchandise there—so clearly, there’s some connection.
It’s incredibly frustrating that there’s no way to reach anyone at the tent. The only solution offered was for us to physically return to the busy event, deal with parking and crowds again, and hope we might find the ID. For such a large brand and event, I expected better organization and communication. Disappointed doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Let me know if you want a more direct tone or a shorter version for...
