I would like to preface this review by saying that I do not like confrontation or complaining, but I had a frustrating, disappointing and extremely rude experience at Deluxe Nails Oakley today, and I feel like I have to share.
I have been getting my nails done for years now at a different salon. I usually get acrylic or SNS, but I've occasionally branched out and done Gel-X. I went to this salon with my friend because she's a regular there and said they're known for Gel-X, so I decided to give it a try. My tech was very sweet, and I was just enjoying hanging out with my friend, but by the end of the service, I realized I should have been paying more attention. It looked like my tech had selected some of the wrong size nails, the nails were not shaped well, the nail polish was very sloppy and my thumb nail was thick and had a giant gap between my natural nail and the gel extension. I was very disappointed because I'm used to my nails looking beautiful! Then, I find out it's $95 (without tip).
I paid because I didn't know what else to do in the moment, but once outside, I showed my friend all of the issues. She said I should go back in and talk with them because they looked really bad. I went up to the front desk and politely stated that I had just gotten my nails done but I was disappointed at the result and wanted to see what could be done. A man (I believe he is the manager) looked at my hands then told me to take a seat. It was over 15 minutes before he finally came over and talked to me. He looked at my nails again, and I pointed out the issues, while emphasizing that my nail tech had been very kind, but I just wasn't happy with the result. He told me that although they weren't perfect, he thought they were acceptable enough. I told him that I understood that I had gotten a service and there was the cost of the supplies and my tech's time, but that I didn't think a manicure that was just okay should cost $95. He asked me what I expected them to do. I asked him what they could do, and he stated that he could have a tech fix it. I told him I had a dinner I needed to get to, and he countered with "we're open every day of the week." I showed him the thick and misshapen nails and said I didn't think they could be fixed, and I really just wanted a partial refund, and I would just go to my regular tech and have them remove the nails and start over. He told me that I was being disrespectful to the nail tech at Deluxe by saying I would have them removed. I told him I was not trying to be disrespectful, but I just wanted my nails to look the way I'm used to. He again told me they could fix them. I re-emphasized that I just wanted the partial refund. He asked me how much I wanted refunded. I asked for 50%. He told me that a Gel-X manicure is worth more than the 50%. I told him I'm sure that it is when it's done well, but that's not the level of service I received. He proceeded to go back and forth with me to the point that my hands started shaking and I teared up. I have never seen such disregard for customer service! I was calm and polite the entire time, and he was nothing but snarky, rude and condescending. He finally agreed to refund me $30. He didn't even come back to give me the receipt. He sent someone else, and I had to sign a copy as my hands were shaking. I ran out of the salon and burst into tears. I have never had such a horrible experience at a salon. I was completely dismissed and disregarded. I will NEVER go back to this place. Good luck if you decide to...
Read moreI have been coming to deluxe- alternating between all 3 cincinnati area locations- and the last two times I have used this service, it has been terrible. The previous manicure I had in November was bad but bearable- the tech rushed through the whole process and left a ridge in my nails where the top met my fingernail. They did last a whole month, and the color was beautiful. The last time I went was this past week. I usually do sns, and I decided not to get a tip because I didn’t want too much length. The color I picked was white and a sparkly overcoat. The tech did a great job on my feet, was very professional, but when it came to my hands, she used a stained polish that was more red than clear when applying they dip powder. The white powder quickly became pink. She also did not shake or brush off excess dip, which left my nails looking like I had globs of cookie dough on my nails. And she proceeded to trim them shorter. So they just looked stupid and ugly at this point. Before she finished, I told her I just wanted my check and I wanted to go. I didn’t want to stay another moment in the shop when I knew they were going to charge me 120 dollars for the decent pedicure and the horrendous manicure. The management came over, asked what was wrong, ( as if the nails looked good!), assessed the situation and double checked the powder to make sure I wasn’t lying about the color I had originally chosen. I asked to come back and have them totally redone the next day. They refused and attempted to fix them on the spot, which took another 45 minutes. No refund or discount was offered. The nails look less doughy but still very pink. The customer service has become less about pleasing the customer and more about saving face. This isn’t how you treat...
Read moreI usually come to Deluxe for pedicures, have for the past few years! I like to try out different locations based on where I am at the time, and I usually don’t have problems (I love the atmosphere!) Last Wednesday October 19th, my friend and I went in for after work pedicures, and I think I had the worst service ever coming here. My tech, Kevin, was rough the ENTIRE time, never once was nice or smiled. He treated me like I was a chore and like he did not want to be servicing me. There were so many red flags where I should’ve just walked out, but I did not want to leave my friend. He cut me three times with 2 different tools (knew and did not say sorry, just told me to move), yanked on my toes instead of communicating where he wanted me to be, skipped the massage (that was included in the price?), stared at me in annoyance at one point without saying a word or servicing me (?), did not lotion my feet, another employee walked by and joked with him about my service (making it obvious he was talking trash about it with them) and truly was rude the entire service. I was so disappointed, and even more so to find out that he did not cure my gel correctly when half of my big toe polish peeled off the next day. I would’ve thought maybe this is how they are an hour before close but my friend had excellent service where her tech was gentle, kind, and talked to her, and there were other customers in the salon. I won’t be back to this location, so sad they found this acceptable. Would not get serviced...
