Marv Herzog Hotel — Attraction in City of Frankenmuth

My husband, small children, and I decided to visit Frankenmuth, Michigan for the first time. We made the decision to stay at the Marv Herzog Hotel based off of a Trip Advisor recommendation. This hotel did not disappoint….!

The customer service was exceptional. David was the associate that checked us in. He was knowledgeable and friendly. He answered our questions and pointed us towards the right direction to get our trip started.

Our room was on the third floor. There is three floors for rooms. Parking is free and underneath the hotel. Each room has a balcony. You can decide whether you want river view or street view. (Personally, we loved the river view balcony…!) The paddle boat tour goes by the hotel throughout the day. Our children loved waving at the passengers.

Although there is not a pool or hot tub, there is a splash pad within walking distance at Memorial Park. The hotel offers a happy hour every evening. They serve a variety of wines and their own Pilsner. They also have charcuterie types of items- cheese, crackers, meat sausage, spiced pickles, etc. We really enjoyed sitting on the veranda and soaking up the view of the river. The other guests were pleasant and it was enjoyable to spark up conversation.

Every morning, the hotel offers a free continental breakfast. It was very good! They had biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage Pattie’s, hard boiled eggs, and seasoned potatoes. You could also make your own waffles there. They also had fruit, yogurt, granola, cereal, danishes, and muffins. Jennie kept it well maintained and offered friendly service.

My buddy and I spent 2 nights here. Note that we are both in our very early 20's. We got the room just to spend some time together before I headed back to medical school. Though the plan was for 3 guys, only him and I made it. So if you are young guys or girls, here's a great review for you Pros: -pretty quiet place. -An elevator that takes you from your floor to the underground parking. You don't have to walk through a lobby to get to your room. -underground parking -really comfortable mattresses Nice river view. Really nice Cons: -Their "snack/happy hour" from 5-7 is a joke. Only one type of beer (which I never heard of). The rest wines. All they offer for snacks is cheese, crackers and salami. More like a mom's snack watching the bachelor -breakfast was meh. Just eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy with a basic waffle maker. Than other basics like cereal and bagels. -No bloody water. I'll admit, we weren't thinking about food when we got the room. So we were very thirsty. Not once did they have water. The closet I got to water was a pitcher with ice. Yeh. We had to resort to cranberry juice. Ngl the juice was good Blankets: the blankets felt more like the top layer blanket of a bed really thin. I was cold. -lastly and no offense, but I don't think this hotel is for young people. Every time my friend and I went down for food, older night staters would stare at us. I asked my friend and he said he felt the same. Tbh, we aren't wild guys. I'm a nurse and my buddy is a cop. Room roughly two hundred a night, parking in basement, nice desk people. Problems, closet smelled like a smoker. They gave us a can of spray, though we booked a river view from terrace, no, street view. We were in the jacuzzi and a long black hair decided to bubble out the jets. (I'm blond my husbands hair is less than an inch long) set a wakeup call for 6am, woke up at 6:38am no wakeup call came in. Reset for 11 checkout, and it rang through. No bedspread just a white blanket thin sandwiched between two white flat sheets. The room a basic box one picture above bed and one collage of the founders life in 2002. Most walls were bear, they need an interior designer for the price of the rooms. The bed was like an iceberg in the middle of a room of darker colors and beige walls. Food traditional continental breakfast, nothing special looked like heat-n-eat and instant eggs. Happy hour 5 to 7 two drinks with a small snack basic summer sausage, cheese cubes cheered or pepper jack, pretzels from a bag, crackers 1 type, green olives, pickles, cherry tomatoes, celery and carrots with ranch. 6 different wines, (no riesling just basic wines, beer was a German craft ale maybe a blond, wasn't horrible but hey if you like budlight, this is a no go and reminded me of earwax.)
