A couple of weeks ago, I returned my plastic bottles. There was a long line to get in the bottle return room, due to Covid and social distancing. Nevertheless, there is a sign posted, which conveys a limit on the amount of bottles, which you can return. Of course, not all people follow rules and regulations. A gentleman entered the bottle room, with at least 10 times more bottles than the limit, which was clearly posted on a sign before entering the bottle room. After waiting for an extended period of time, I informed Tencho, one of the workers in the bottle room area, that the gentleman was returning a lot more bottles than the maximum amount. I further informed Tencho, that as a result, the line did not move for 25 to 30 minutes. Tencho was rude and did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. He totally ignored the fact that the gentleman was not complying with the rules posted in the bottle room. I then went into Stop n Shop to speak to the manager. Mr. Santiago was not available as he was on a conference call, therefore, I left a message regarding the issue in the bottle room. I was assured that the situation would be conveyed to Mr. Santiago when he completed the conference call and Mr. Santiago would come to the bottle room to resolve the matter. At this point, I returned to the line. Thankfully, the nice lady behind me had no problem with me returning to the line. I waited another 20 to 25 minutes before I noticed a second employee enter the bottle room area. I approached him and told him that the gentleman had been in the bottle room for at least 50 minutes and he was well over the limit of bottles, he could return. I suggested that the gentleman be told to return to the back of the line if he wanted to complete the remainder of his bottle return. This would enable the line to move forward. At this point, I was in line for over an hour , the line was moving super slow because the stop n shop employees failed to enforce the bottle limit policy to the aforementioned gentleman. Finally, after 20 additional minutes, the gentleman was finished and shortly after, I was able to gain entrance in to the bottle room, to return my bottles. I gave a one star rating because the store employees were notified of the issue and they did not take any action to eradicate the problem. This resulted in numerous customers having to wait in the hot sun, for much longer. In addition, the manager never came to the bottle room area to address this matter, as promised. Also, Tencho and the second worker I approached failed to take any action and they were both very rude, especially Tencho. They have HORRIBLE customer service skills!!! After, I returned my bottles, I went in Stop n Shop and spoke to Mr. Santiago. He did not provide a plausible explanation for not going to the bottle room to address my concerns, however, he was not rude like the other 2 employess. Mr. Santiago apologized. Nevertheless, his actions make me feel less than a valued customer. I spend a ton of money in Stop n Shop, I only ask for better service in the bottle room and better...
Read moreChanged my day and my whole week. Gave me faith in humanity again! Seriously, Tamika in costumer service was such a God send in a sea of suburban sprawl I am unfamiliar with. I was having the absolute worst day of "missed connections" and misunderstandings. The people that were supposed to care that day gave me small town prideful answers with little care to how their responses would effect my feelings. Let me explain, I drove up from Brooklyn to take my car to the vet. The vet was not cool... Anyway on the way home I realized I left my charger at home! I had no GPS w out this charger! I had to stop at Home Depot and Cosco and no chargers and not nice customer service or at least some personality... also my car was still in the hot car and I missed my turn 2x! I also tried a gas station to no avail! I was starting to get upset and worried. When I went into Stop And Shop I asked the lady in the farmacy and she said to ask at costumer service and also that she would charge my phone while I shopped. I really just wanted to get home... I waited behind an old couple doing price checks on everything in their kart...omg...how does this costumer service lady deal with this all day(?!) I thought? I'd better start taking lessons! Then with out even saying anything she even put the chip into the machine with asking them to do it like most places!:) Next in line was a man w a lottery ticket. Great I thought.... Then no it wasn't jut one lottery ticket, not 2, not 3, not 4 but 5!!!!! Wow again I was loosing my patience and thinking HOW does this lady do it?! When I explained my predicament to her she tried to help me think of places but I had done them all... Then she turned around and handed me HER charger!!!? I was like are you sure!!? She was like YES, you get home!:) I actually teared up! Amazing. Little did she know I am also a yoga teacher. She taught me a lesson in patience that day more than I have learned in meditation or in my multiple service industry jobs! She should be cloned! Wow. Just...
Read moreReview of an Unpleasant Encounter – May 18, 2025, 9:40 PM
On the evening of May 18th, 2025, at approximately 9:40 PM, I had a deeply disappointing and uncomfortable encounter with a woman whose appearance was striking, but whose attitude was alarmingly unprofessional. She wore a green shirt, brown khaki pants, and had long, well-kept dreadlocks — a look that gave the impression of confidence and groundedness. Unfortunately, her behavior told a different story.
From the moment I approached her, her energy was off-putting. She seemed disinterested, borderline dismissive, as if my presence was an inconvenience rather than a part of her role. I attempted to ask a simple question, but was met with rolled eyes and a sharp, almost mocking tone. It was as though she had already decided I wasn’t worth her time.
What escalated the situation was her complete lack of patience. Rather than offering assistance, she cut me off mid-sentence and proceeded to speak over me, dismissing my concerns without even trying to understand them. Her attitude wasn’t just rude — it was antagonistic. I left feeling not only ignored, but insulted.
What made the experience worse was the public nature of it. A few others around witnessed the interaction, and the awkward silence that followed her behavior said it all. I’m not sure what kind of day she was having, but her personal frustration should not have been taken out on someone seeking help or clarity.
This incident was a reminder that appearance and demeanor don’t always align. Professionalism goes beyond what you wear or how you look — it’s how you treat people. I hope this review encourages management to evaluate the importance of customer service and to provide proper training, because this experience was simply...
