3 stars is the best rating I can give the Village Shoppe after much consideration. I rented a tux from them for my prom. It cost my $190. This was my biggest issue. Excluding a cashmere suit, I could buy the same tux for just $100 extra dollars. The village shop did rent through our school. They took the time to drive to our school for our convenience. This was very considerate. Measurements were done in person. Unfortunately my dress shirt was much too large. I chose the ultra slim option, but that didn’t not show. They would have overnighted a fitting one for me, however I tried the shirt on too late. Luckily I had another one, so this was a minor issue. The biggest irritation was that for this price I received a clip on tie. I recognize that not all high schoolers know how to tie a tie, but that should at least be advertised. I knew the price and purchased anyway, however I was expecting a higher quality product. The suit was not made of a very high quality material for the price. I also did not receive shoes for this price. I opted out of the additional cost. This is an edited review of an original 1 star review. I realized that the 1 star review was unfair because I still looked excellent at the prom. (Albeit with some extra stress on my part) Overall, the final product was mostly satisfactory. The process to get there was not so in the slightest. One final note, after posting my original review, the owner or a representative called my mother of all people to complain about my review. I ended up speaking with her about my poor experience, and she agreed with very little except for the advertising of the clip on tie. I did have a very good exchange with an older member of the village shop. Very polite and kind. I really hope that this review doesn’t cost you too much piece of mind. You were very understanding when I spoke with you. I suppose your experience will depend on how much you are willing to spend unnecessarily, and the members you deal with.
One final note in response to the owners response. I recognize the initial review was poor. That is not a reason to post a name and location on the internet. Secondly, even with a bad review, the response is simply unprofessional. Perhaps a disgruntled customer indicates a problem with the service? I would also suspect if you asked your other high schoolers students, many wouldn’t know about their other options. I’m sure they would be disgruntled to know they could have saved potentially a...
