This was a terrible first escape room experience. We came to attend a child’s birthday party, and needed to load in food and drinks. We asked the 2 associates at the front if we were allowed to do that. They said yes. We also asked if one of the adults needed to be in the escape room with them. They said no they didn’t and watched us head to the mom’s car who was the parent of the birthday girl. Didn’t say anything.
So fast forward to 5-ish minutes later when we had all the party things inside. And we are met with who I’m guessing was a manager. (Never introduced herself nor did we speak with her when we got there) we were berated and told “you signed a waiver” and “we’re not a daycare” at least 12 times. In addition to that, we were met by the police, head of mall security, and a sheriff. My first thought as a mom is “is someone hurt? Has someone been kidnapped?”……no. It was because we walked out of there. It would have taken 2 seconds and no effort to be like “hey by the way one of you needs to stay here”. Again, all of this is after 5 minutes of grabbing the cake from the car which the two non-managers had said was fine.
The presumed manager then instructed the mom of the birthday girl to “go hurry up and talk to the police so my (her) associate can do her job”. All of this was in a very aggressive tone. We had to discuss with police and mall security what happened. Again, all of this while the kids they were supposedly concerned about are in the escape room without us while we had to speak with law enforcement. So the party mom heads in to supervise, and the party starts 20 minutes late because of that.
Allegedly mall management had used the intercom to page parents. But the announcement couldn’t be heard by anyone because we had to walk to the car. Also….i asked several mall associates in other stores after this incident if they had heard the intercom….all of them said no they had not. They alleged to have made attempts to contact parents……I’m not sure who they called….but they had very parents phone number from the “waiver” and allegedly called one of them. And didn’t get an answer. So apparently the default for them is to contact police if you go get the cake out of your car.
Also….there’s no bathroom in this escape room suite. So the closest is in the back of Macy’s…..but you can’t leave any of the kids to take the kids to the bathroom……so no kids were able to use the bathroom for the entire 2 hrs of the party. They didn’t help with clean up, and were pretty distant afterwards.
This was the most chaotic experience I’ve ever had at a child’s party. I feel terrible for the mom of the kiddo whose party it was. Because she got the brunt of it. Additionally, after the incident happened early on….i mentioned to the staff who had actually checked us in that perhaps they should tell their manager that they told us the wrong thing. No clue if they did. This place is the worst. Don’t ever book a party here....
Read moreI just received your threat via voicemail, your accusation of misuse of Google Review regarding our experience as being “spam” is inaccurate. It's essential to leave a specific review regardless of whether your experience was positive or negative. Sharing details about your experience will help other customers decide whether or not to do business with that company. For these reviews to be considered “Spam” my accusation and statements must be false, and they are not. I am sorry you do not like the comments, but it is the consumers’ right to know.
We have a right to inform the public of our experience, and the fraudulent advertising your establishment is portraying to consumers. We did not say anything that is not substantiated. The single cubical room was extremely hot, smelled of feet, bug infested, and the reverberating sound from the other cubical invaded our space. The website depicts a more glamorous, exciting experience. A single 15’x15’ cubical with metal boxes in the corners of the room with pictures of other rooms on those boxes does not make an experience, it is a feeble attempt at an experience, and more of an insult to consumers.
The website should direct this to a child’s experience, market it for a funhouse and remove the false images that embellish the actual experience. I understand now, after receiving your threat, that if a negative review is provided it is your policy to threaten those individuals. I do not accept these threats. I have asked for a full refund (which I was told would be addressed by the appropriate party, still no answer), this verbal threat has now substantiated the company’s view on Customer Service.
I am requesting a copy of the recorded tape, it is my right to have this provided to me upon request, please forward it to me via email. I have started an official complaint with the Ohio Attorney General’s office to protect consumers who are being fraudulently misled by the website.
BEWARE!!The experience was horrible. If management reviewed the security tapes as they have claimed regarding my initial complaint of the heat, bugs, noise, lack of imagination and false advertising the security tape would definitely reflect our experience. As a consumer scrolls through the reviews the common phrase of continually looking for ways of improving the experience, it appears as if they are not concerned with providing an actual description of the one hot, bug infested, feet smelling room where supposedly the great adventure occurs. I have requested a refund, and have reached out to the listed email with no answer. Consumers should be aware that this is a fraudulent...
Read moreFirst and foremost the staff was so kind and helpful! I really appreciated our guide super friendly and because they were not busy allowed us to have a little more time, but when the button is pressed for help they do not give hints they just give the answer out right. Also we did the Sherlock homes one, and ended up stumped for 15-20 minutes of our hour due to two locks not unlocking for the right codes. Staff had to come in and show us how to properly unlock them. These two locks have apparently been a problem before and they haven't fixed it yet, they are also unlike the rest of the locks used in the room. Making them inconsistent on how to open them. Most you pull where as those you had to forcefully push them into a hard surface and it springs open(again also jammed and didn't work even for staff), this wouldn't have been a major problem if we were not limited with time. The price for 3 people is far to expensive for what you get. The rooms don't have a roof so you hear everyone else, and the props and puzzle are definitely not worth the price.the rooms are small and closterphobic. If it was 10$ per person it would have felt better. The puzzles in this room also never felt satisfying to "solve" often times there was no hints to how to open the lock boxes and you end up just putting in everything that matches the amount of letters on the locks. There really is no solving. We chose the Sherlock homes one as we thought we would feel like we are figuring out a mystery, it ended up not at all feeling like this. Alot of the puzzles don't really using props aside from reading papers, there was a few but I definitely expected alot more. There was also a puzzle that only would open a lock of you did a mathematical equation properly, you arnt allowed to use your phones so you had to multiply a big number in your head, we got it but some people may have not been able to figure that out. There was also another puzzle that involved a chessboard and the movements(rook to f3). Again we figured it out but people may have not known how chess pieces are laid out let alone what square is what. This puzzle also without even doing the puzzle could have been solved by again just putting in codes and seeing what opens it making the puzzle pointless to even attempt.
The biggest gripe is the price, if it was just cheaper it wouldn't have felt I wasted so much money for such little and unsatisfying time. If we had to stop without the extra time we were given this would have been a 1 star, the extra time made it feel atleast alittle better and we ended up getting half way through because...
