I have never experienced the embarrassment that I experienced at the market of this establishment. My spouse and I decided to go shopping in the marketplace being that it was somewhere New I was highly excited to try out the different things they had to offer. While shopping in the market my husband decided to visit the liquor store that's located Inside the market . He wanted a bottle of vodka and decided to purchase from there while I was checking out the dessert aisle. I decided that I would surprise him with a bottle of rum as well,he went to the car to to put our purchased items away and I entered into the liquor store when I walked in I was looking for the rum aisle and I eventually found it. They had a bottle of rum that came from the country that I was born and I reached into my purse to take out my wallet and my phone and was going to walk towards the entrance to see if my spouse had came back in yet. I was stopped by an employee and asked if I put something in my bag being very surprised and disgusted, I answered him why don't you check. I put my bag on the counter and at this point 2 other employees approached me. when I asked why would I put some thing in my bag another employee informed me that they were watching me and they seen that I took up a bottle of liquor but never put it back . I ask did you guys go and check to see if you're missing a bottle of liquor she informed me no, I opened my bag and to their surprise there was nothing inside. I informed them that I was actually coming to purchase a bottle of liquor which would've been my second one since my husband bought vodka less than 3 min ago they had little to say I had everyone in the store staring at me and I can only feel like this was discrimination because I cannot see them approaching anyone else this way. No one called to apologize or follow up with this defamation of character that I experienced. This is America where we are All shapes and colors and if I had taken out my phone and video this altercation I'm almost sure you would have protesters and people boycotting your store I truly think you should be ashamed that your employees display this type of behavior under your brand and you took no...
Read moreIt’s a real shame what this place has turned into. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Why did they have to get rid of the original location? If you wanted to expand, why not keep both locations? We have been loyal customers to the 161 location for years and years and we were not happy when it closed down. We have tried this new location quite a bit and we only go here when we really need something. We haven’t been back for a while because our last experience was bad. The quality of the meat we got was terrible, thank god we had enough smarts to not actually consume it in fear of getting sick. The new set up of this place is terrible. At the original location It was nice to get a number and get everything you needed at one counter. Your lunch meat, your cheeses, your red meat, your chicken, your fish, and your sides and salads all at one place. It makes me sad when I walk into this new place, everything is prepackaged slop and the quality of the products has become terrible. They have the lunch meat counter separate from the meat counter now and at the lunch meat counter, there is nowhere to grab a number. You will sit there for a long time waiting to be serviced because they expect you to pick up the prepackaged crap right in front of you. Today, there were 6 employees in the middle of the counter, they all looked at us at one point and the only one who finally came to help us was the one that kept running in and out putting things away. His name was Vincenzo and he was very kind and helpful. The customer service is never great here and not very welcoming. That was never the case on 161. It’s always very crowded in here and you can’t get around very well because there are so many little tables and shelf’s in the way full of prepackaged goodies. Why do we need a pizza by the slice counter? Why do we need a full bakery and gelato bar? And why do we need a restaurant! Carfagnas was doing just fine without any of that! The 161 location was convenient for so many people who were loyal customers for years and years and I’m sure you’ve lost a lot of that clientele because nobody wants to drive over to Polaris and shop with a bunch of yuppies which is who you are...

Today my wife and I visited the butcher shop. We are making burgers for my brother-in-law, who happens to be an executive chef at one of the best restaurants in Columbus, so we want to knock his socks off when he eats our burgers! I ordered 3 lbs of ground beef, which they happily obliged us with. I wanted a pound of ground brisket for the burgers, and the butcher said too much would be lost in the grinder. SO... I offered to purchase the entire brisket if the butcher would grind it down for us and he still refused. So we left disappointed.
Fast forward 30 minutes. We went to Earth Fare on Gemini in hopes of getting the brisket we needed to mix with our ground beef for the perfect burger and not only did they have brisket on-hand for sale by the pound, but offered to grind a pound and give it to us for free because it was too fatty to sell. Fat? Burger? Sign us up! We ended up leaving with 3 lbs of ground brisket for $8.
When we left Earth Fare I called Carfagna's to tell the manager about our experience at their store and our experience at Earth Fare, and the manager I spoke to, PETE, HUNG UP ON ME! We won't be returning to Carfagna's any time soon. We drop $100's of dollars a month at local butcher shops. Sorry Carfagna's, we'll see you at thanksgiving for our ham but you have lost our business otherwise!
Update: called to see if the holiday hams were available, nice enough lady answered the phone and said they weren’t in. I asked her when they would be and she asked Pete the manager and I heard him in the background say in an angry manner “They’ll be here when they get here”. Pete is a miserable person and it’s obvious that the only thing he hates worse than customer service is his own life. This makes my heart happy.
BTW, found a better ham at Fresh...
