Carfagnas I give 5 stars Majority of their customers I give a negative 5 The employees is always nice and has common sense and old school customer service. The store is always nice. BUT…the absolutely pushy rude customers is why we dislike going here. Man pushing his way on me and my husband had to tell him give me some space because he knew I was about to start throwing hands. Then we went out to the food tasting and some woman left the tasting was like 5-6 feet down and I stepped up she turned around and shoved right into me I had to put my hands out to keep her from falling she hit me so hard then gave me a dirty look like it was my fault. I thought it was an accident until she kept pushing between my husband and I multiple times. Then after multiple times doing it he told her NO wait your turn and she shoved him. She right down assaulted him. Another man seen what she was doing to us and even commented about her. We left. We was done with the absolute rudeness. There is NO REASON why you cannot first of all wait your damn turn. Stay out of peoples personal space, say excuse me which means excusing yourself for going in front of someone. Simply say do you mind if I grab this so I can get out of your way and let the person give you space to do so. But you know what? Wait your damn turn. Maybe just maybe I waited my turn and now it’s my turn to be at that counter. Back off. No man should be so close they are rubbing against a woman they don’t know. No one should be so rude as to push another customer for no damn reason. We’ve dealt with some rude customers but wow today was the rudeness at its finest. You city people think you are so much more important than the rest of us. Yes I’m being crass because this is what we dealt with unnecessarily today.

I was in this place last Sunday, the food price ratio is acceptable, the carfagna bruscetta and the salad were quite good, but the pasta was a disaster, I ordered a Carfagna combination, the lasagna was just overcooked pasta with sauce (which seems to be can) and cheese, the ghocci stuck together on top of the others and flavored with wheat flour, the only thing salvageable is the manicotti but without the horrible sauce. The service is quite good, but the wrong suggestion is that some wings are not something that can be your starter in an Italian restaurant. Then we went to the Enoteca, where we tried to see something that caught our attention. From the counter, a lady pushed the other and made signs about us. I couldn't enjoy the experience, nor could I even ask about the experiences they offered there for tasting. It was like we were intruders, I told my husband to get out of there, really people? We could have spent more there, every customer is important and I think that as a sommelier, traveler and Italian I could take better advantage of this place. In the market everything was different, the gentlemen at the delicatessen counter were excellent, the house soppessatta and the hand-made mozarella were excellent, I also got a lavazza rosso at a very good price, I had a delicious coffee with pistaccio ice cream not to be missed, and a pistaccio cannoli also spectacular, negative point, there is no place to sit to enjoy the coffee, I would return of course they have a piece of Italy in Ohio, I don't think about the restaurant although it is beautiful, the food is not better than in the bad franchises, and I definitely went to the Enoteca is not for me.

I wish they had a 4 and 3/4 stars. While I feel like they are almost perfect it is the almosts that I find a smidge off putting. First off, the meat specials are unbeatable! The bacon wrapped filets are comparable with some of the ones you get through mail order and at much better price points. Their steak cuts are always so delicious. My husband really enjoys the meatball mix and we get the sausages when they are at low prices. Stock up and all freeze well. I am not sure if they didn't make their prepackaged salads and prepared food in the back, but there are so many additives and preservatives that the may just be scooping into containers, which was not my understanding from the 161 location...where I was told they were made in the back. I was also surprised that the fresh baked cookies were made and shipped in from as far as NY. They told us they actually made 3 on-site!!! Just three - wow! The case was filled with cookies. I feel like they aren't really fresh if they are transported there, versus me going to the place that makes them. We don't shop the grocery as much and didn't eat in the restaurant- but if you stick to the specials, you will get some terrific cuts of meats and poultry at phenomenal pricing!! They did bring some of the original decor, I miss the black and white picture that used to be over the meat counter. They gave an amazing wine section and it's nice to see they have liquor. We will come back for the reverse happy hour and mob movies! Sounds like fun.

I have never experienced the embarrassment that I experienced at the market of this establishment. My spouse and I decided to go shopping in the marketplace being that it was somewhere New I was highly excited to try out the different things they had to offer. While shopping in the market my husband decided to visit the liquor store that's located Inside the market . He wanted a bottle of vodka and decided to purchase from there while I was checking out the dessert aisle. I decided that I would surprise him with a bottle of rum as well,he went to the car to to put our purchased items away and I entered into the liquor store when I walked in I was looking for the rum aisle and I eventually found it. They had a bottle of rum that came from the country that I was born and I reached into my purse to take out my wallet and my phone and was going to walk towards the entrance to see if my spouse had came back in yet. I was stopped by an employee and asked if I put something in my bag being very surprised and disgusted, I answered him why don't you check. I put my bag on the counter and at this point 2 other employees approached me. when I asked why would I put some thing in my bag another employee informed me that they were watching me and they seen that I took up a bottle of liquor but never put it back . I ask did you guys go and check to see if you're missing a bottle of liquor she informed me no, I opened my bag and to their surprise there was nothing inside. I informed them that I was actually coming to purchase a bottle of liquor which would've been my second one since my husband bought vodka less than 3 min ago they had little to say I had everyone in the store staring at me and I can only feel like this was discrimination because I cannot see them approaching anyone else this way. No one called to apologize or follow up with this defamation of character that I experienced. This is America where we are All shapes and colors and if I had taken out my phone and video this altercation I'm almost sure you would have protesters and people boycotting your store I truly think you should be ashamed that your employees display this type of behavior under your brand and you took no...

It’s a real shame what this place has turned into. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Why did they have to get rid of the original location? If you wanted to expand, why not keep both locations? We have been loyal customers to the 161 location for years and years and we were not happy when it closed down. We have tried this new location quite a bit and we only go here when we really need something. We haven’t been back for a while because our last experience was bad. The quality of the meat we got was terrible, thank god we had enough smarts to not actually consume it in fear of getting sick. The new set up of this place is terrible. At the original location It was nice to get a number and get everything you needed at one counter. Your lunch meat, your cheeses, your red meat, your chicken, your fish, and your sides and salads all at one place. It makes me sad when I walk into this new place, everything is prepackaged slop and the quality of the products has become terrible. They have the lunch meat counter separate from the meat counter now and at the lunch meat counter, there is nowhere to grab a number. You will sit there for a long time waiting to be serviced because they expect you to pick up the prepackaged crap right in front of you. Today, there were 6 employees in the middle of the counter, they all looked at us at one point and the only one who finally came to help us was the one that kept running in and out putting things away. His name was Vincenzo and he was very kind and helpful. The customer service is never great here and not very welcoming. That was never the case on 161. It’s always very crowded in here and you can’t get around very well because there are so many little tables and shelf’s in the way full of prepackaged goodies. Why do we need a pizza by the slice counter? Why do we need a full bakery and gelato bar? And why do we need a restaurant! Carfagnas was doing just fine without any of that! The 161 location was convenient for so many people who were loyal customers for years and years and I’m sure you’ve lost a lot of that clientele because nobody wants to drive over to Polaris and shop with a bunch of yuppies which is who you are...

Carfagna's has a great selection of meats and Italian products and the absolute BEST ham in town for the holidays but...

Today my wife and I visited the butcher shop. We are making burgers for my brother-in-law, who happens to be an executive chef at one of the best restaurants in Columbus, so we want to knock his socks off when he eats our burgers! I ordered 3 lbs of ground beef, which they happily obliged us with. I wanted a pound of ground brisket for the burgers, and the butcher said too much would be lost in the grinder. SO... I offered to purchase the entire brisket if the butcher would grind it down for us and he still refused. So we left disappointed.

Fast forward 30 minutes. We went to Earth Fare on Gemini in hopes of getting the brisket we needed to mix with our ground beef for the perfect burger and not only did they have brisket on-hand for sale by the pound, but offered to grind a pound and give it to us for free because it was too fatty to sell. Fat? Burger? Sign us up! We ended up leaving with 3 lbs of ground brisket for $8.

When we left Earth Fare I called Carfagna's to tell the manager about our experience at their store and our experience at Earth Fare, and the manager I spoke to, PETE, HUNG UP ON ME! We won't be returning to Carfagna's any time soon. We drop $100's of dollars a month at local butcher shops. Sorry Carfagna's, we'll see you at thanksgiving for our ham but you have lost our business otherwise!

Update: called to see if the holiday hams were available, nice enough lady answered the phone and said they weren’t in. I asked her when they would be and she asked Pete the manager and I heard him in the background say in an angry manner “They’ll be here when they get here”. Pete is a miserable person and it’s obvious that the only thing he hates worse than customer service is his own life. This makes my heart happy.

BTW, found a better ham at Fresh...
