Ok, so this is like the third time I’ve edited this review.
First update: I’ve finally gone back to the theater (was back in the area by coincidence) and was finally able to speak with someone (a manager by the name of Alex) about a very negative viewing experience on Christmas Day.
Long story short: Their company is systematically placing their occupants in conflict with one another by not accurately depicting the location of their “IMAX” screens in relation to the theater seats during the ticket purchasing/ seat reservation process (that they claim to be a “premium service”). (i.e. their theatre layouts are inaccurate to the detriment of their patrons).
I was assured at the time and have since been confirmed by the manager that this is a “very valid complaint”, “photographs [have been] taken”, and the problem has been escalated to higher management/ corporate for correction.
They offered me free ticket vouchers and I declined because my experience was far more damaging than can be resolved by ticket vouchers. Instead, I simply made him promise that he was going to get the problem fixed.
I could talk about how sh*tty society is in general, that this is even a problem, and that this had to be resolved in this way, but I’ll “leave that for another day”, or if you’ve read this review prior to this edit, you already know exactly what happened.
Apart from the very negative “guest” experience (which far and away, alone, ruined the entire guest experience for me), the movie screens for what they claim to be “IMAX” are far smaller than what a regular IMAX screen is, the sound became (WAY) too loud during portions of the movie and made my eardrums hurt, yada, yada, yada.
Maybe you should all just think twice about being d*cks when you go out in public and deal with fellow citizens; because you never know, it might just be the movie theater (or company’s) fault… or maybe you just don’t care. :) In which case, GOOD FOR YOU! (BIG THUMBS UP) ;D
I’m honestly sick of having to deal with society and getting people to act cordially in public… let alone multi-million dollar corporations…
Not really enjoying the prospect of going back here, uncivilized patrons, sub-par viewing experience; it’s just really hard to see a reason to go back here.
I might go back to make sure the problem is fixed, but even then; I don’t know why this is my battle in the first place. Shouldn’t it be easy (and a pretty high priority) for a movie theater offering “premium” seat reservations to make sure their symmetrical theaters are depicted symmetrically on their website?
Honestly, I’m really done with this. Society can go screw itself, and so can this theater.
And as for trying to “skip” dealing with the local theater’s customer service and dealing with corporate directly: Good Luck. The only way to “contact” them is via a tiny comment box on their website. They say they’ll “Get back to you shortly.” and lo-and-behold, more than 5 months later and I am yet to receive a call or e-mail. :D
Really good “example” they’re setting at that corporate office!
(If I could’ve, originally, I would’ve given the company/establishment zero stars. I’ll tack back on a star for a cordial, nice experience with the manager, which takes us back up to one star, and I’ll think about adding another star (or stars) later on if I go back and see that the problem is fixed. I would say “Don’t hold your breath”, but I think this might just be my...
Read moreMy wife and I attended the 3:45 showing of Aladdin on Sunday. The movie was fine, but the service was abysmal. There was a gentleman, maybe in his 60's with five small girls, probably grandchildren I assumed. When he arrived one of his reserved seats was coated in spilled soda, dried and utterly sticky. To his good fortune, one of the attendants happened to show up as the previews were showing and he asked her for help in cleaning it. As the movie began, I noticed she had not bothered to return. Mind you, he was polite and courteous in his request. The woman never returned to aid him. He could not leave to ask for additional help as he was shephearding five young ones. As the movie began, I went to the service/food counter to ask for paper towels and some cleaner so I could clean it. You would have thought I had three heads and was carrying a torch as the staff simply stared agape at the request. Finally, one of the younger assistants was asked to help after a much longer than expected silence. What really causes me pause here is that I am at the food counter. They evidently had nothing to clean a seat with ... At the food counter... and it took five minutes to find something to clean a seat. The question bears asking ... What in the world do they use to keep their food prep area clean. Evidently that is not all that important as they had to send to another part of the building for something as simple as paper towels and a cleaner. Quite frightening when one thinks of it. Eventually about forty minutes after his initial request for help the man on a day out with his grandchildren was able to sit down and enjoy his special day with his granddaughters. On the way out, because my interest was piqued, I checked the concession area just to see. It looked exactly like a place that couldn't find cleaner with both hands and a flash light. I will not be returning and I am willing to bet the kindly grandfather and his adorable five granddaughters...
Read moreMy wife and I came to a showing of the movie "Freaky" last night. When we arrived at the theater and went to our auditorium there was no one else except for us. The movie started and about 10 minutes later two individuals showed up late and were extremely loud and disruptive. They turned their flashlight on and were talking and laughing which was very distracting. Then about 20 minutes later, so 30 minutes into the movie, another individual showed up by himself and entered the auditorium. Even though almost every single seat was open in the room he sat directly next to me which made my wife and I extremely uncomfortable given that he was not maintaining social distancing. He proceeded to fall asleep for almost the entire movie. This leads me to believe that he did not even have a ticket for this movie as it was reserved seating and the seats next to us were blocked off due to social distancing. Also, the fact that he slept the whole movie. Not to mention, he had the ringer on his phone on and he received approximately 6 calls during the movie. Since he was sleeping he let it ring the full amount of time each time. While I know that these things are not completely within AMC's control, I have been coming to AMC theaters for many years and never have I felt so uncomfortable or had such a bad experience as I did last night. With everything going on right now and money being tight, I expect that if I am going to splurge on movie tickets that the experience be a good one. Last night simply did not meet that mark which is disappointing. Upon reaching out to AMC about our experience all they said was “Sorry and thanks for...
