Awful experience.
Tech cut my 5G antenna during an unrelated repair, and I was informed by the manager that the tech did it to another phone. That was annoying but the nearly TWO WEEKS that followed with little or no communication, misinformation, and continuous moving of the completion date was stressful. It was especially upsetting to be told that I should feel thankful the store fixed what they broke. Shout out to Tony who is the only employee there deserving of a management title (unfortunately, he doesnât have one). He interceded when the "manager" (who hung up on my husband) gave me his personal assurance (in person) he would fix the phone, never did, and never bothered to call me to let me know I shouldn't waste my time showing up at the store. Tony made it happen. And I thank him for showing integrity and delivering on his promise.
What I learned?
Luckily, I called the customer service line for franchise headquarters early in the process and worked with a dispute resolution manager. I am glad I did this because CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS gave me a 50% REFUND for my grief when this store location refused to offer any discount.
There are corporate locations and franchise locations. I learned through my discussions with customer services that my repair would have been less had I gone to a corporate owned location instead of this franchise location. Not all locations are franchised and not all franchises have the same price! I also learned that I can call UBreakIfix customer service line (877 number available on corporate website) and find out if the location is a franchise or corporate location. I can also ask for the name of the franchisee(s) to avoid other locations owned by that person - in this case two people. But based on my excellent experience with corporate customer service, I am willing to try another store under the ubreak umbrella.
Next time, I am going to save myself the stressful experience of having to be "thankful" for working with this location when they botch the job. But, again, if I had no choice, then I would CALL CORPORATE WHEN THE FIRST ISSUE ARISES for my sake and so that UBreak has a record of franchisee practices. I got the customer service and professionalism through corporateâs customer service that this...
Read moreIn the past I have had 5 star experiences with UBreakiFix, but this time...
I brought the machine to them on Oct 5, 2024. They took a long time to do the repair, then they called and said they think the machine's performance was suffering from onboard software. I didn't agree because I have 3 other computers in the house that all have that same software installed and none of them behave as slowly as this machine. Since I believed that the machine may be suffering from overheating. I was interested in seeing what they were going to suggest.
They asked if they could wipe it, and reinstall the software. I gave permission.
A week later, no call from UBreakiFix, so I called them. They told me they still had a part to install. I wondered, but did not ask them, what part was that, to myself. The prescribed parts should have already been installed.
They continued that they would finish the install and call me when it was done.
2 days later, I called them, they told me it was ready 2 days ago. That I could pick it up. I checked my call log. no call, no message. No Problem. I picked it up, and brought it home. I found that they had indeed wiped it, but there was a large schedule of updates waiting to be installed to windows. I spent the rest of the night last night updating the operating system.
The machine still has really poor performance for any computer, but this is a Dell G7 Gaming computer.
But, full disclosure, I suspected that the machine MIGHT have overheating damage, because regardless of how I instructed my son to care for and operate his gear, I don't think he listened. He paid for the machine,. It is what it is. I thought that since he was likely going to need his machine on ship, USS San Antonio, that for graduation I would attempt to fix his machine to save him having to buy a new one.
So, in closing, what is most alarming about my recent service is that UBreakiFix could not correctly diagnose the machine or even make suggestions as to the state of and/or possible solutions, if any to make the machine perform. They took forever, and simple returned the machine, I suspect, within the limits of their abilities. Disappointing.
I think I will go another way the next time. Still 3 out of 4 ain't...
Read moreAbsolutely the WORST experience Iâve ever had. Dropped off my Apple Watch to get my screen replaced, they said it would take about 3 days. For the whole first week I didnât get a single call or any updates about the repair, I kept being patient and waited till the end of the following week and same thing no update or call. So I decided to call myself to see what was going on and they said the parts were delayed and they could have it done that night or the next day. Next day, same thing no update no call. I waited till today almost 2 weeks since I dropped my watch off and they said it was ready to come pick up. I arrive at the store and Iâm frustrated on why it took so long, they tried to give me a $10 discount but that amount wasnât worth the time frame they said they would get it done by so we agreed on $20 off. And I was pretty happy about that, as soon as I left and got in my car, I tapped the screen a couple times and the whole top half lifted off. At that point I was pretty mad so I went back in and asked for a full refund and was willing to let them repair the watch for a bigger discount which I 100% deserved after waiting almost 2 weeks without a single update from them and being handed back an un-repaired watch. They didnât even budge on the discount and said $20 off is the lowest theyâll go because of the parts that they ordered. With that kind of customer service I should of been getting the repair done for free honestly, but I was willing to pay $50 for it and they couldnât even meet me even close to that price. So that tells me that loosing $50 worth of parts is more important than their customer service. Couldnât even make an exception after treating me so poorly and handing me back a watch that still wasnât repaired. Never coming back to that place, wouldnât recommend anyone else to go...
