A way overdue post about THE BEST WEEKEND EVER!! It’s hard enough to find hotels that accept dogs, but to find one that treated me like the prince I am?! Technically it was my dad’s birthday, but it felt like mine! Can’t wait for our next visit! #petpolicy #petfriendly #dogsallowed #furbaby #rescuedog #marriott #marriottbonvoy #pawpackage #socal #coronadoisland #sandiego

I got married at the Coronado Island Marriott in April 2023. It was the most magical weekend of my life! It was an Indian wedding - 300 guests and had events both Friday and Saturday (3 events total), all held at the Coronado Island Marriott. The views from the wedding site are stunning - you get the water and downtown skyline as your backdrop, and people were stunned. One of our events (Sangeet - Friday night) was at the hotel's Skyline Terrace, and the sunset hitting downtown and the lights in the night were breathtaking. You also get a view of the Coronado bridge. Everywhere you go, there are views. Our guests were raving all weekend about the accommodations. The hotel boasts the biggest hotel rooms in San Diego, and they did not disappoint. They were extremely clean and modern. The biggest bonus was the hotel wasn't huge to where people felt overwhelmed walking from one side to another. It was intimate while still being spacious, and you got the vibe it was my wedding wherever you went in the hotel. I personally stayed in an Exec Suite, which had 2 balconies, a wonderful view of downtown and the water, and was extremely spacious. Plenty of room for me and my 9 bridesmaids + HMU artists + family to hang out during downtime (all at the same time)! The hotel is super close to the ferry to downtown, so when people had free time, some of them would go downtown for food or site-seeing, and come back. It was super easy. The hotel has a spa as well (my husband and I got a couples massage the day after the wedding), which is so tidy and relaxing as well. There's a park nearby, and flamingos on site which I know a lot of the kids loved watching. The Coronado Beach is a 10 min drive (which is where we got some of our wedding pictures done), and a few people spend time there. The hotel also has a wonderful/spacious pool area, which a lot of my friends used. There are also a lot of restaurants walking distance from the hotel, which was nice since each of the families had welcome dinners at separate places - guests didn't have to worry about ubering or walking far distances. There's something for everyone to do/see during down time at or near the hotel. The hotel also has their own dock, which was nice because my husband used it for his baraat (essentially, the grand entrance for Indian grooms) and came in on a boat. A lot of other times, we've seen jet ski rentals there (another fun activity for guests). The hotel at the restaurant is called Albaca, and served up some delicious food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all great), and cocktails. My husband loved Albaca's spicy margarita so much when we visited one time, that he decided to make it his signature drink! I know a lot of guests spent time there hanging out. I have to give a shoutout to Kheshini over at the Marriott (Director of Event Planning) who was with us every step of the way - from site tours, to signing, to helping us plan the event, to being there when it all came together. Even if we visited the Marriott unannounced and we let her know we were in town, she'd go out of our way to say hi. She is so friendly, and just the person you'd want helping run your event. She worked with us to try to get everything we wanted, and to make sure that we were happy (ex. I wanted a very specific watermelon vodka for my signature drink, and Kheshini made sure that they were able to find it and order it in time). She was also extremely patient with the questions that came from our parents (which was a lot!). If you're considering booking the Coronado Island Marriott as a wedding venue (or even just staying for a fun weekend), I 10/10 would recommend to anyone. You will not be disappointed, and I felt like a princess the entire weekend. Everyone there is extremely polite and accommodating, and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and happy on the most important weekend of my life thus far.

My recent stay at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa was an absolute disappointment. From the moment I arrived, it became apparent that the hotel was far from the luxurious and enjoyable experience I expected.

The issues I encountered during my stay were numerous and truly unacceptable. Firstly, the bathroom sink was clogged, causing inconvenience and discomfort. Despite reporting the issue to the hotel staff, it was not promptly resolved, leaving me frustrated and dissatisfied. This lack of attention to basic maintenance was a clear indication of poor management and a disregard for guest comfort.

Adding to my disappointment, the pillows in my room were stained with mascara. It was evident that the housekeeping staff had not properly cleaned or replaced the pillowcases, resulting in an unsanitary and unpleasant experience. It is utterly unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber to provide guests with pillows in such a state.

The balcony was no better, as it was infested with spiders and their webs. The lack of regular cleaning and maintenance allowed these unwelcome creatures to thrive, creating an unwelcoming and unappealing environment. To make matters worse, there were spider wipes strewn all over the balcony, indicating a lack of attention to cleanliness and a failure to address the spider problem effectively.

Furthermore, my disappointment reached new heights when I found a spider inside the shower room. This was not only distressing but also raised concerns about the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel. It was evident that proper measures were not taken to ensure a hygienic and comfortable stay for guests.

Additionally, the room itself was in dire need of renovation. The outdated furniture and neglected walls were clear signs of neglect. Moreover, the pervasive smell of mold that permeated the air was deeply concerning. Such an environment not only compromised guest comfort but also posed potential health risks. It was evident that the hotel had failed to address the issue of mold and neglected necessary renovations.

When choosing a resort and spa, guests rightfully expect a certain level of luxury, cleanliness, and comfort. Regrettably, the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa failed to meet even the most basic of these expectations. The clogged sink, mascara-stained pillows, spider-infested balcony, presence of a spider in the shower room, and the pervasive smell of mold were all indicative of a poorly managed establishment with a lack of attention to detail and guest satisfaction.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a pleasant and relaxing stay. The subpar maintenance, uncleanliness, and lack of renovation are clear indications of a disregard for guest well-being. It is my sincere hope that the management of the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa takes immediate action to address these issues, improve their standards, and provide guests with the experience they...

I've never left a negative review before, and I hope not to have to leave one again.

I booked three rooms for a conference, and I will never be back to this hotel or any other Marriott. Look, I get it. It's 2024, and every corporation is trying to get away with jacking up prices while reducing the quality of their products and services. But Marriott is ridiculous even by 2024 standards. This is a subpar 3-star hotel with generic outdated amenities that is calling itself a resort, billing resort-level prices, and nickel-and-diming its customers with hidden fees.

The Rooms: These are generic and outdated. Our room was very dirty. It had a large stain in the entryway, the floor did not appear to have been vacuumed, and there were dirty dishes from the last occupant on the patio. The door did not set correctly in the frame, so it did had a big gap at the bottom and didn't provide a good sound barrier. We could hear every single person who walked by the room. The walls are extraordinarily thin - even by hotel standards - and we could clearly hear our neighbors' conversations even when they were talking at a normal level.

The Restaurant: We arrived late after a long drive and wanted to order room service, but no one at the restaurant answered the phone after three attempts. Luckily, the restaurant has a nice dog-friendly patio, so we walked over for dinner. But our server was emphatic about her fear of dogs and did not want to come near our table. At one point, she spilled a drink because she was trying to place it on the edge of the table while standing as far away from us as possible. My dog is an elderly yellow lab, and she spent most of the dinner sleeping under my feet.

The Service: With the exception of the weird experience at the restaurant, every staff-member we interacted with was kind and professional. The problems at the hotel are clearly a product of Marriott's corporate culture, NOT the local staff.

The Price: The hotel has a great location, but location alone doesn't justify the price Marriot is charging. For two nights and two trips to the hotel restaurant, we paid $2,300. My staff-member's rooms were even more expensive. It's just not acceptable to charge that much and provide a worse room than you'd get if you stayed at a budget hotel. During another recent work trip, I stayed at a Tru by Hilton and paid one-fifth the price that Marriott charges, and it was a nicer and much cleaner room. Then, to add insult to injury, Marriott nickles-and-dimes its guest with additional fees for parking, WiFi (who charges for WiFi in the 21st century?), and "access" - whatever that means. This kind of corporate greed is just unacceptable shows a total disregard for...
