50/50 might describe most of the experience. I've never seen more trump signs and tshirts in one place. Half of you will like this, half of you will not as the race seems split down the middle. There were a lot of people exhibiting their wealth which felt like people here try too hard. A family had brought a decorative umbrella out, from where I don't know. pillow seating cushions around a low table with place settings made the table. They were all dressed well. I wondered if a photo shoot was about to take place as this setting seemed out of place even for this place it felt staged. near the table, A girl hugged a guy as if she would fall over and cease to exist without him. It was pretty here but it wasn't comfortable here like other beaches we visited. A jazz band tried to make it a happy place and played with big sax playing motions while seniors jammed out and some younger wheel chair seated people bobbed their head to the music, which was a delight to witness. But the happy was only in the small bubble around them. There were lots of mini beaches which made it seem more private and safer for kids. Moms and dads stood guard as the waves from the harbor boats buffeted their squealing toddlers who fought with siblings. On a dock there was a ferry boat maintaining a brisk schedule and lots of people fishing off the pier tangling their lines. There were miles of paved beach trails that few people were using. The harbor was beautiful but I really didn't feel like I belonged except a server at a bbq place little piggie's was friendly and welcoming and made actual eye contact. The restaurant had great coleslaw and tender baby back ribs and ok brisket. a selection of sauces at the table were just ok. I liked that there were selections in squeeze bottles, I just didn't care for the flavor of the selections. Their bread was completely dry. The ambiance felt corporate even though I thought I was initially walking into a mom and pop. I'm still not sure. So the goods were good but the...
Read moreI only gave it 4 stars because it's perfect except for the fact that I grew up there and I can't go there, ever, without running into someone I know from childhood, which can be jarring if I'm just trying to keep to myself and enjoy walking around. It's a very, very expensive place to live but it's an extremely beautiful place to visit. Make sure you go to the Hotel Del Coronado, lots of history there and a famously haunted room. Also, the inside of the hotel looks like what you'd imagine the inside of the titanic looked like. During Christmas time they always have a big, beautiful tree in the main lobby. The beach in Coronado is beautiful, clean and great for families (the bay is great also but be careful of the water there, it's highly polluted) and you can take the ferry from the bay to downtown Coronado with your bike and it's a lovely ride. At the beach you might notice the sand dunes look a little strange by the Hotel Del Coronado but that's because from an aerial perspective they spell out "CORONADO". Lots of great restaurants and shopping but bring a lot of money! The military base takes up more than half of the island but it's off limits unless you're in the military and you aren't missing much. The silver strand connects the island to Imperial Beach (IB) and it's a nice drive, run, or bike ride (long one) but IB is more dangerous than Coronado so I don't ever really go there. The Loews Resort is on the strand and it's a really nice place to stay. In high school my friends and I would sneak into their pool often. There's a running/walking path on the island that goes around the golf course and lets you walk or run or bike underneath the Coronado bridge around to the bay. It's a small place but there's no shortage of things to do! I think tourists really love it there, especially during the summer. In the summer, it is packed, especially for the 4th of July which is a huge deal in Coronado. Great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live...
Read moreI recently hopped over to Coronado Island with my family and it was an absolutely fantastic trip. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the island's charming and laid-back atmosphere. There is so much to see and do on Coronado Island, and it's the perfect destination for a family vacation.
One of the highlights of our trip was definitely the beautiful beaches. Coronado Island has some of the most beautiful and well-maintained beaches I've ever seen, and we spent hours swimming, building sandcastles and soaking up the sun. The water is crystal clear and the sand is soft and powdery, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Another standout feature of Coronado Island is the variety of activities and attractions available for families. We enjoyed exploring the charming downtown area, which is filled with cute shops and restaurants, and we also visited the famous Hotel del Coronado, which is a must-see for anyone visiting the island. There are also plenty of parks and playgrounds for kids to enjoy, as well as bike rentals and other outdoor activities.
Overall, our trip to Coronado Island was an absolute delight. The island is a charming and laid-back destination with beautiful beaches, a variety of activities and attractions, and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It's the perfect place for a family vacation and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and...
