Escape Day Spa — Attraction in Culver City

I went in two weeks ago and this was my first time giving this spa a try, there was a hiccup but they were definitely able to make my experience a great one! I scheduled an appointment for the Signature Swedish Massage and added on the Aromatherapy and Foot Treatment. They do use a texting service to keep you up-to-date on your appointment and this is where the hiccup came in. They day of my appointment the system had automatically sent me an update but changed my time because of the additional services I had added, which I thought was weird but it was only by an hour and I was able to make it work still. So come time of my original appointment the staff had contacted me to see if I was still coming in and I had let them know of the text I had received changing my time. The staff was very helpful in the situation, let me know of the error and was still able to get me in for my scheduled appointment. To me, this is what helped make the experience as some tech does have errors but they were able to address it and are now aware of the issue, so I'm sure it's been addressed at this point. Once I was in for my massage I had their massage specialist Marcela Oliveira and she was absolutely amazing! She asked questions before getting started and addressed the areas I had expressed to her that were giving me pain. The foot treatment did leave my feet feeling quite soft, however for the aromatherapy, I didn't quite get that experience...I believe some was essential oils added to the massage oil but the fragrance just wasn't coming through, so maybe a little more could be added. That being said, overall the experience was a 5 star because of the staff (massage therapist and front desk) and the massage leaving me feeling absolutely refreshed and relaxed. Would definitely recommend this venue and especially Marcela!

Reminder - don't forget to drink plenty of water after...

Sorry, but I am not happy. I got to know this spa over a Groupon add and was able to book for the same day, so this is my plus point. I was promised the same price as Groupon - another plus point. I wanted to take a shower upfront; ok, a shower is existing, but it appears somewhat dirty and has absolutely ‘back of house’ feel to it. The water came as a small sprinkle and the shower head holder came off (I do not like dirty in a spa). I got a room right next to the reception in which the music didn’t work. I could hear absolutely every word spoken in the reception and it was a busy day - not relaxing at all. Trying to fix the problem my masseuse switched on full light and forgot to switch it off again until I asked her to do so. The massage itself was ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. The combination massage is a regular massage with 1 (!) hot stone only.....weird. In the end I was promised to get a call for a make up appointment for more relaxing spa experience - never received another call.....I won’t...

If I would have typed this review on Monday I would have given 5 stars. Monday I walked out feeling good with my microdermibration facial. It was priced good, and staff was very nice and friendly. Ana was the girl who did my facial, (very nice personality, pleasant to work with) it was the first time I get this done, overall experience was a 9 out of 10 at that point. During the facial after the microdermabrasion she put on what seemed to be lotion or gel but as soon as she put it on my forehead it was stinging and I told her about it so she wiped it and it didn't burn anymore. She asked if the rest of my face was fine and it was. A day after my skin felt fine, but day 3, today, I realize I have 6 scratches on the whole side of my forehead where it was burning, and on the side above my eye its red and scratches like 2 inches long and 3/4 in. depth.
