Delray Beach Water Sports Rentals — Attraction in Delray Beach

The customer service was very unsatisfactory. We had to wait half an hour to even get our paddle board. The staff was very sharp and unkind. Once we paid for the board, we had to wait another 20 minutes for them to bring it down to the beach. As we had never done it before, we didn't know there were certain "rules" involved with paddle boarding such as keeping it deeper than knee deep water and having the paddle with it at all times. So we bring it up to the sand, and yes we are at fault here, but we didn't know that that was a "no no" and how the staff handled the situation is why I'm leaving this review. They come marching down the beach and yell at my sister when they didn't make us aware of any rules in the first place. Then, they come over to me as I was down the beach retrieving the paddle and yell at me for the same reasons. They then proceed to find where we're sitting and yell at my mom for allowing us to break the rules that they hadn't made any of us aware of. They provided terrible customer service and we will never be renting...

Buyer beware. Brian rented my 7yo a skim board. 5 mins later the Delray lifeguard came down to my kids and said there's no skim boarding on Delray beaches; town ordinance because kids broke their necks doing it in the past. Lifeguard said the rule has been on the books for the past 9 years they've worked there.

When I asked Brian about i the rule he said he had no idea of the rule. (Seems unlikely if the lifeguard is right about 9 yrs) He offered other equipment, but we already had boogie boards and the surf on the beach wasn't big enough to push a board anyway. He had no other gear we were interested in. I told him I'd like a refund.

First he tried to tell me that he didn't know how to give a refund and I called him on it. Then he agreed the it's not policy to give refunds. It seems pretty irresponsible to rent gear to kids that they can't use.

In addition, shop was shady, hobie cats were poorly maintained (rips in the tarp and a broken rudder) and nothing was rigged even though winds were 10-15kt.

Would not recommend, guy...
