I enjoy the apartment itself and everything it has to offer but I've never had so many problems with a leasing office. NOT EVEN COLLEGE CAMPING HOUSING.
-When we moved in the apartment was not clean, I had to clean it before moving in. -Bedroom door nor the window would not shut so we could hear everything outside when trying to sleep, especially because there was construction going on at that time -Bedroom carpet and bathroom was filthy so I won't be surprised if I get charged for the stains on the carpet based on reviews I've been reading
All of that was manageable and was not going to be the end of the world for me so I referred 2 separate friends to move here. (Which I had to bug the office 4-5x to get my money for referring). On top of that I had to bug them to make me a mailbox key 6x because they didn't have that when I moved in either (took almost 2 months)
When my friends moved in, they got gifts from Dylan and a 6 pack of beer, which I did not which means they weren't ready for us to move in (which I could have post poned if they communicated that with me) BEST PART is that the guy who lives below us was suppose to get this unit and he got screwed over so we get harassed by him constantly and he's almost gotten physical with my bf when he was drunk and started banging on his ceiling and woke us up because he says he hears music and stomping around BUT WE WERE SLEEPING AND GOT WOKEN UP, it most definitely was not us. We have been trying to be mindful of him since the walls are thin but that was absolutely ridiculous and he's been more understanding since then.
When I moved in, the leasing office lost my check but still pulled money out of my account and I get a call from April which was the most unprofessional conversation I've ever had with another "professional". Its her world and you are just living in it. She made accusations towards me and told me if I didn't give them another check that I would be fined a late fee without talking to her staff or considering what I had to say when I told her that the money had been pulled.
Dog poop is everywhere even though they told us that they work with a company that picks up dog poop and charges owners based on the dogs saliva swap they do when pet owners move in. They have (or had now) a sticker outside of the building that confirms the company
The icing on top is their 60 day written vacate notice you have to give them before your lease ends. I've been with 6-7 leasing companies now and whenever my lease is about to come to end they notify me of what needs to get done. But no, not dylan. They will not work with you because "it is not negotiable" since it is in the lease and completely disregard what you have to say because they don't want to deal with you. I was under the impression that I had signed a 12 month lease so I called them before my finals were about to start on May 7th to verify when I needed to be out. They said my lease ended July 6th meaning I signed a 13 month lease. This wasnt a problem because it gave me more time after finals to find a new apartment. However, I called them THREE TIMES to confirm it was July and that no one was getting it mixed up with June and NO ONE told me that my 60 days was coming up so I should consider giving them a written notice. So now, we are stuck with paying $500 more for 3 weeks of living because if you dont give a 60 day written notice then you have to pay month to month. BEWARE OF THIS. my friend got screwed over too.
Let me start by saying that this place looks great and the maintenance staff are incredibly diligent and polite. That's about it for the positives of living here.
There are detailed policies on living here, regarding topics such as noise and other things that ideally would make living here a peaceful, pleasant, quality experience. My experiences here, however, have shown me that the management here could care less about any of that. While I'm writing this, I can't hear myself think inside of my own apartment, all doors and windows closed, because at this moment in time, there is a d.j. in the pool area and my windows are rattling from the music. A d.j., which according to our leasing terms, is not allowed to be there. After calling the office multiple times, to no answer, we approached the staff in-person, and it's been about an hour since then and they've done NOTHING to address the issue.
The walls here are paper-then. Call security to address any noise complaints after-hours and soon discover that they don't even come to investigate the complaint.
When covid lockdown began in March 2020, the pool area was filled with more people than I had ever seen in it, shoulder to shoulder, probably because every other pool in the city was closed, because, you know, lockdown and all. No one was wearing a mask. I recall walking to the gym around the time of seeing this, and I saw one of the building managers and heard him say, "I have to shut this down, but everyone will hate me." Sorry, bud, it's your job, why are you concerned about that at all?
I had an upstairs neighbor that had a habit of turning his music up as loud as he could at all hours of the night. Being woken up at 3, 4, 5 am really wears you down when you work a job that has typical 9-5 hours. I brought up my complaints to building management. The response I received from management was, "Just deal with it, they're moving out in a couple of weeks." And then the issue continued for about 4 months as the tenant wasn't even close to moving out. For the record, Dylan staff, if you're reading this, I'd love to share ALL of my emails with you regarding my interactions with your staff, they serve as a shining beacon of how this place is run by only the most professional people who absolutely would never give you an unprofessional attitude. Also for the record, this neighbor had the police called on him, also at early morning hours, to address the complaints. I guess that's what happens when your staff and security don't do anything. Also for the record, it's not just me, I never called the police to address those concerns.
I have plenty of other instances that I'm not going to go into detail about, but let's just say that if you value your privacy at all, this is not the place for you. I specifically asked about how sound-proofed these apartments were, and I was lied to. The walls here are paper-thin, we can hear entire conversations from our neighbors while minding our own business in our own apartment. And then only a couple instances of a direct neighbor's smoke detector going off for 30-40 mins at a time because their oven was filling their unit with smoke or gas while they weren't home. I guess I can't blame staff on that one, but it sure would've put my mind at ease if something could have been done instead of just ignoring our concerns.
There is a parking garage. Be sure to always lock your doors and make sure no valuables are left in plain-sight. Break-ins and theft are a common occurrence here, in the garage as well as inside the building, apparently. There is a package delivery room, touted as secure, and yet we've had countless packages go missing. Building staff wasn't very helpful there, either.
To summarize, you'll love this place if you love to party non-stop. If you like to hear yourself think, not be woken-up in the middle of the night on a regular basis, and have your personal belongings taken, you'll probably want to live elsewhere. Consider Edison,...
Read moreRenters beware before choosing Dylan At RiNo. I moved into Dylan May of 2023 and lived here for roughly 1.5 years. In February of 2024 the new tenants that moved in above me were extremely loud, stomping through the apartment at all hours throughout the day and night. I turned in multiple complaints, one night I had the security guard come into my unit so she could see what I was experiencing. She stepped inside and within 3 seconds said she would go up and say something (she could hear how loud they were being that quick). Management still claimed there was nothing to be done. The only alternative was to move to another unit. I was disappointed they still chose to charge me fees because I had no interest in moving, I was only doing so to escape the noise above. In March I moved into the new unit and moved some of my belongings into a storage unit on the new floor. The door to the storage room was broken and not secure. I turned three maintenance requests in for this door, the first in March, second in July, and the third in August. The first two requests were marked as âcompletedâ even though the door wasnât fixed. When turning in the third request I emailed the property manager directly to express my concerns for the door to which they replied saying they would address the issue. A month later in September the storage room was broken into, the unsecured door that management/maintenance neglected to fix was an easy entrance for the suspect.
On the night of September 20th, I came home to water pouring out of my apartment door. A faulty sprinkler inside of my unit had been set off and was running for an unknown amount of time. I called the emergency maintenance line to report the issue. The water got shut off and maintenance got a mitigation crew in to begin cleanup. Due to the water damage, the apartment was uninhabitable. The next morning, I sent an email in to see what the next steps were. After a few hours of no response, I drove to the building to speak with the management team. A Dylan team member told me that the unit was uninhabitable (I already knew this) and that they were giving me the option to move to another unit. The units they were offering were smaller and were a downgrade from the âpenthouse upgradesâ in my unit. I was also told for the time being I was responsible for temporary accommodations. I spoke with the property manager the following week and mentioned the downgrade in the list of units I was given over the weekend, they mentioned there was a larger unit available for rent. I asked if they would match the rent to which she said they would not go for that, the difference was about 100/month. It is extremely sad that a buildingâs faulty equipment destroys someoneâs property and causes such inconvenience, and all management can think about is getting more money out of them. With 6 months left on my lease matching the rent would have âcostâ them around 600 bucks⌠The response by the building to this issue was absolutely terrible, instead of trying to help they reached out to their legal advice to find out the bare minimum they had to do for the situation. I decided to run while I had the chance and terminated the lease. I requested a refund for the last 10 days of September due to the apartment being uninhabitable. They are currently denying the request, even though both maintenance and a member of the management team told me the apartment was uninhabitable. âBut donât worry youâll get your full security deposit backâ.
A few other issues with the building. The carpets throughout the hallways are gross. The garage door is broken and left open more than it is closed. Garbage left in the hallways for valet pickup leads to terrible smells at times.
The only thing good I have to say about the building is I enjoyed the location, and the outdoor area is nice and provides a lot of space.
Spare yourself the headache and...
