Went in tonight to get a magnet for a souvenir for our family who visited all the way from Canada. They have never been to Florida before so this was a first time experience.
Unfortunately we walked in right as they were closing, maybe 10 mins before, so we tried to be mindful and find what we needed and check out. We picked our magnets and made our way to the front.
After looking at the magnets and finding what we liked we tried to quickly look at whatever was around just to see what they had, a sales associate, I think, popped around the corner and told us not to come any closer because this part of the store was “recovered” for tomorrow. We turned around and headed for the register at this point.
The so called ”manager” Silva Was at the register and she was refusing to take cash. We had 2 magnets and a small bag of candy. Less than $20.
She was telling me it was due to lack of business and due to corporation that they could not accept cash. There were other employees who were standing around the register area who kept saying “this is why we don’t let people inside” like I was at fault for trying to give my money to a business.
I have never been told this in my life. Living in Florida for over 10 years living in Destin have been denied cash at a souvenir shop. I ended up paying card for my magnets and candy but the customer service experience we received was not only disturbing but flat out disrespectful. Even after arguing with her at the register over why it was absurd she was refusing cash, my receipt was timed stamped at 21:57 army time which is 9:57pm. The store closes at 10 pm.
If our business was not welcomed it should have been stated when we walked in the door or simple said “we only accept card at this hour”.
Not only should corporate be ashamed of the customer service experience my family received tonight but the lack of intelligence and respect when it comes to people you have in a...
Read moreI am not usually the type of person to write a review, but it felt necessary to do this. I had bought my father a tank top for father’s day from this store, only for my dad to point out that there was a spelling mistake on the back. My dad and I had gone back to the store to see if all of the shirts were the same, and they were. At this point, I wanted at least part of my money back because of the spelling mistake. I would have just exchanged the shirt, but there weren’t any that I had liked as much as the one I had gotten. Both my dad and I had talked to (what we assumed to be) the manager, and she was extremely rude. She didn’t speak English very well so it was hard to understand her. She argued that the shirt was intentionally spelled wrong and that it was “funny.” She continued to argue that she could only give us a full refund or pick out another shirt. We eventually got to the point to where she said she would check the back to find the correct shirt (when I had already told her that they were all misprinted), and she didn’t find any. After all of the arguing, she finally gave me a 50% refund (which she could’ve done in the first place). I know that this store will continue to sell the shirts until someone notices again. As someone who works in customer service at my local grocery store, I know that it is completely fair to give a customer a partial refund on something that has something wrong with it, and it only takes a quick card swipe to give a refund. Please check what you buy from here so you don’t have to deal with horrible...
Read moreI went to Alvin’s island on vacation with my sisters last week and it was fun in the store and I got many things I liked but a $8 purchase from days ago has suddenly been updated to over $17. The price tag on the item I purchased said $8 and that’s what I paid at the front. I was incredibly surprised to see my debit card charged over twice that amount today. I’m a young person and I don’t have a lot of money so that overcharge put my debit card balance into the negatives. I tried to contact the store but I have no recuero because I hate carrying them around so I couldn’t contact the store directly through the extension number and when I tried to talk to customer service all the line would let me do is leave a message. This is ridiculous. Do better. Even if it was possibly not marked properly in the store they should not have charged me more since it was their mistake and not mine. If this were a cash transaction I would not have been additionally charged. My younger sister bought a similar item and is having the...
