LADIES BEWARE!! 🚩I had a reservation last Saturday with my significant other. Once seated, a member of the wait staff came walking by our table, obviously looking at me. He then proceeded to the mirror directly across to the left of our table. He began to act like he was checking his appearance, while again directly staring at me. I was immediately uncomfortable, but he then walked away after a minute or two. Shortly after he walked away, another member of the wait staff proceeded to do the same thing, same mirror. Then another. Then another. 4 men leering at me via a mirror. The first man lingered near us the majority of dinner, and the others were always walking and lingering in the area leading to the restrooms, in view of our table, though until later, there were no patrons dining there. My significant other caught them in the eye a few times throughout our dinner. I called Joe Muer on Monday to speak to management regarding the behavior of their staff. Leigh, the manager, said she was appalled, said there was quite a difference between flattery and disrespect, and told me she would like to discuss the matter with other management, and she would call me back. That was two days ago, and I haven't heard a word from them. So ladies, unless you enjoy being leered at by strange men, I highly recommend you choose another restaurant. UPDATE Joe Muer did not contact me until after my review had been posted. The manager only attempted to contact me once not twice, I have the call history. I called yesterday (4/26) I was told management was too busy with their lunch service and would return my call later that day. That was yesterday. Apparently Joe Muer's response to a difficult situation is to post online to give a false facade to the public of caring, when clearly they are content to continue to ignore their issues. *Final Update! I, again, had to contact Joe Muer on 04/27/2023. to ask what their resolution was to their wait staff harassing women in their "upscale" restaurant. I was informed by Matt Smith, that since I enjoyed my food, that the rest of my uncomfortable experience with being treated like the main course for their staff, was irrelevant. Their initial response stated they were embarrassed by their staff's behavior against women, only to be told by Matt Smith the behavior was acceptable since their food was decent. All I can say is there are far better holes in the wall in downtown Detroit with better food and loads of the respect. Don't waste your time or...
Read moreWe had an amazing dinner here on a Monday evening. The food was perfect and the service was first class.
This is a beautiful restaurant inside with fantastic views of the river. Yes, there is outdoor seating as well, but it was 90 degrees outside when we visited, so we opted for indoor seating. We were perfectly comfortable inside, believe me.
Tip #1. If you want a seat with the best views, ask for a window seat when making your reservation. We did not do this, however our table still had great views and we were next to the piano.
Tip #2. Ask the pianist to play your favorite song; he can play almost anything! He has a great personality, too.
Tip #3. When arriving, valet parking is around the corner next to the hotel entrance. Pull all the way around the back of the building (Riverfront) then proceed past the other restaurant valet, up to the stop sign and turn right. The valet is there on the west side of the building and is marked.
Tip #4. Dont forget to the have your ticket validated by the hostess when you go inside the restaurant. This brings the parking fee from $35 down to $10 or something like that - which I appreciated. After dinner, you can pay and call for your vehicle at the kiosk just outside the restaurant entrance.
Tip #5. Leave the cell phone in your pocket or purse. It's a request of the restaurant and noted on the sign outfront. As hard as it is to believe, we made it through dinner, drinks and dessert without them and we had great conversations amongst ourselves and with our server.
Tip #6. If you are a bourbon kinda person, try the Old Fashioned, it was one of the best I've had.
I am very much looking forward to my next visit to the restaurant as there are so many options on the menu I have to try.
For us, this place earned our 5 star review because it delivered the complete package! The food, the service, the layout, the views.... they had it all... and it was all first class.
We will be back soon!
The pictures below are from the private area in the back. Sorry, we didn't snap any main dining area pics but trust me, it's very nice/cozy.

Read moreWhere to start we rsvp for 4 people, out of respect we got there 10 mins early to checkin which I figured they won’t seat up since our rsvp was at 8:30 pm so that’s not a problem, we ended up not getting seated until 8:50 and everyone was just unpleasant from the beginning.
waiter he was rude, didn’t smile once or introduced himself or even ask how are we all doing, etc. no drink menu on the table yet he just started asking us if we are ready to order drinks. He didn’t seem happy when I asked him to get us a menu or more bread. he wrote things down yet forget what we ordered we were 4 people and he couldn’t even pass out the food correctly and wasn’t happy when i told him i ordered medium steak and I got well done. did not check on us if we liked the food or not or asked us if we wanted anything. Other than one time asked if i wanted another beer and to bring us the check ofc. maybe cuz they restaurant already add the 20% service fee for them they don’t care about the service because they get their money regardless of how good or bad they do. Super disappointing, the tip was almost 90$. I promise you if I went to any fast food restaurant they would provide you a more friendly service than what we got. next table to us, the waiter sounded. Nicer and talking to them, we never met this waiter so not sure why he didn’t like us.
The food: Apps: we ordered Mac and cheese ( I highly recommend it, it was delicious and all 4 of us loved it) the steak bites ( avoid at all costs, can’t tell you how disgusting it was, 6 pieces of the most chewy over cooked meat I have ever had, idk if I will feed my dog that meat). Truffle fries (nice portion and they were crispy, decent price and tasted good, I would order it again) steaks: We ordered two delmoncio steaks: please do yourself a favor and avoid them, the steaks tastes chewy and like of flavor, they felt broiled rate them 1/5. waygu stake was okay rate it 3/5
The hype is not worth it...
