Evergreen Meadows — Attraction in Edison

Haven't lived here, but looked at it as a potential home for a family member. The complex itself was quiet and had a lot of nature around it, and the apartment itself wasn't the worst, I'd even give it a 3 - 3.5 rating - older but spacious, decent light, hardwood floors and updated enough kitchen. What keeps the overall rating low is the following: In the spacious, 1 BR apartment, there is 1 AC wall unit, and it's in the corner of the living area that is farthest from the bedroom. There's no way this thing is going to cool the bedroom during the summer. There is a place for a wall unit in the bedroom, but no unit. Management told me I was free to buy one and install it. Seriously? Also, as attractive as the wood floor was, there was a definite dip in the middle of the living room floor, and since I've seen posts about people's ceilings falling in, I wasn't about to trust a 2nd story floor with a dip in it. There was no laundry in the building, so we'd have to go out to a different building's basement for laundry. When we checked it out, my sis-in-law pronounced it "creepy". The hallways of the building were worn, a bit sad. And the final, but not least, reason we dismissed this complex from our consideration was the interaction we had at the front desk when we went to check out apartments. With no efforts at salesmanship, a girl wrote down the numbers of available apartments fitting our parameters on sticky notes, handed us keys, vaguely pointed in the direction of a building, and told us to bring the keys back when we were done. No effort was made to sell us on the complex, no tour was offered, no one walked us through the apartment. I relocated a month ago due to a fire. David in the leasing office was great at showing me what was available, accommodating my personal preferences, explaining the lease, and answering my in-depth questions regarding lease verbiage. Every person I have encountered in the office is great with answering all my direct questions. My only suggestion would be to itemized the amount due prior to move in. I had to get a cashiers check for a large amount that was more than security deposit and 1st month’s rent so I asked for the itemized version but I think that should be a default when anyone gets a bill. The only problems I have encountered since moving in are: 1 missing delivery on my move in date for an 8x10 carpet, neighbors in my building have children who are generally loud and uncontrollable, and optimum connection issues. The children run around causing the floor and ceiling of my apartment to vibrate. I also think there’s a wild critter living in the “roof”. Additionally, Optimum had difficulty setting up my service because there is only one access port in the apartment in a weird spot (corner of the dining room). I work from home so these are major issues. Other than that, I appreciate the privacy of looking out into the woods instead of other apartments, parking is great, and the location is within my area of comfort. My only suggestion for anyone looking to move in here is to have a general idea of what you want- 1 bdrm vs 2 bdrm, 1st floor vs 2nd floor, personal preference, building with/without kids, etc. Bear in mind you are limited to what they have available unless you are willling to wait. Evergreen Meadows is a very nice and peaceful place I love This community the area is amazing!!! the Maintenance staff is wonderful!!! On point get the job done and does everything Needed done 5 stars to them. The rental office staff are pretty good but if they show you a apartment make sure that will be the apartment There going to give you. There are different apartments styles you might see one and love it like I did and They gave me what ever after Showing me it and said that it was the same apartment as I viewed and mines Wasn't ready and I Took there word and got something else lay out was totally different and it was very upsetting I had no other choice for I already left my other Place fast to get you in but not to correct the problem if you do move in make sure they understand and see the apartment you Are wanting to get for they Don't know what you see they do not go with you and Can't remember all the apartments size or lay out That's the only negative thing here other then that staff are good and the secretary Isn't very helpful young and Don't know much And if you request For her to reach out to someone she will tell you she Can't but she could and Won't help sad but she very unprofessional she...
