Should be a ZERO!
I have been a frequent customer of EZ Way for many years and have recommended them to other people. However, due to my experience last night, I will never use them again. There are plenty of other lots near Newark that I will look into, even though I have been loyal to EZ way for over 10 years. I have noticed the service dropping off but this time, it was HORRIBLE. I parked my own car at 4am the morning I dropped off, that is new to me, but ok. Why, if only to find that my car was moved anyway.
My return is the issue, which was at 1am and was what I put on my reservation. I know it's late but I still expect good service at any time of day especially when my expectations are based on previous experiences.
I called the number when we have all our bags as usual, the phone rings at least a dozen times and a woman finally answers. She tells me to go up to level 3 as I always do. We literally get up there in 4 minutes and I see a EZ way van pulling away. I call back and again a dozen rings and I ask why the van didn't wait for us. Woman, in a kind of nasty tone says, wasn't your van. I inquire, and say, it was already here, why not wait 1 minute? She tells me the driver was already out when I called and she could not contact him. Are you kidding me, no cell phone?
Fast forward, we wait for 30 minutes in the cold at 1am. for a van. I call again after waiting for 20 min and woman says sorry it's on the way, we only have 1 van at this time of night. Again, I say, even more reason to have them wait 1 minute for us. The van finally pulls up and it's actually almost full. Literally 2 seats for me and my friend. So despite the late hour, obviously there are customers in need of service. I guess put another employee on the schedule.
Now it gets even better. The driver Paul refused to help us with our bags. I asked him nicely if he could carry them for us? I have never not been given assistance by the driver. I planned on tipping him at least $10 for his help but I put my bags in the van myself, which was not the best idea since I had back surgery 8 months ago. And he was nasty about it when I said I never was told no before and he told me he doesn't work for me.
When I got to the lot, after waiting 30 min. to be picked up, my car was not ready and waiting for me. This is an absolute first. In the past, I give my ticket number on the phone so it's ready. We get off the van and pay the balance and it's there. Nope, last night, the driver of the van drops us off, and then goes and starts pulling cars up. He walked really far to get two cars, so my car was not in the spot I originally parked it. I waited another 10 minutes for my car. This must be part of the reason, that it took him so long to come and get us from my original phone call. Why didn't the woman working the counter get the cars ready while the groups in the van were waiting/driving to the lot? I called at exactly 1:02am for the van and I left the lot at 1:53am which is absurd, unacceptable and intolerable after a long day of traveling. Thanks for adding an extra hour to my day.
Despite this being the first time it was this bad like I said earlier, the service is not as good anyway, I will never give them another chance and felt compelled to give them this review. Normally I would just contact them directly, share the issues and probably give them another chance. I am not willing to find out how much worse the service is going to get, how nasty their attitudes can be and be treated like my time and money is not valued.
I will find another lot in this price range since there are several. I am also willing to spend more money if needed in order to get...
Read moreNEVER PARK HERE unless you want them to do $4,500 worth of DAMAGE to your car. I parked at EZ Way Parking in May for a work trip. When I returned home, I got in to my car and pulled out on to the highway. I immediately realized that my steering wheel was off center by 45 degrees. When driving straight, my wheel looked like it was making a hard right. I immediately turned around and called the police. I've parked at this place before and I've seen how they treat their customers. I once watched a cashier berate a customer after he made a reservation, but they had no space for his car. I also had another cashier berate me on a separate trip because I lost my ticket. I had pay her $10 to turn around and look for my key!!! Anyway, when I got back to EZ Way Parking, I noticed they had destroyed my left front wheel. When the cops showed up, they found MORE DAMAGE. My left rear wheel has been shredded as well. It looked as if they had driven it along a curve. Luckily, I had taken photos of my car recently because my car had been damaged in a parking garage earlier this year. It's now part of my routine when handing my keys to a parking attendant. The cops brought me into the main office where the cashier (who berated another customer in front of me), handed me an accident report and said, "contact JOY in the claims department and she'll take care of it. I just work here, I don't park the cars." So that's what I did. I filled out the form, faxed it to JOY, and left her a voicemail. A few days later, NO RESPONSE! I call her and leave her a voicemail again. NO RESPONSE! I leave another message. NO RESPONSE!!! At this point, I need to get my alignment fixed, so I take the car to Dodge. A few hours later, they let me know that EZ WAY PARKING not only shredded two wheels and screwed up my alignment, they had done major damage to the steering and suspension. It was going to cost over $4,500 to fix everything they had done to my car. It was at this point I contacted my insurance company and filed a claim. A day or so later, the agent in charge of the claim calls and says, "I spoke to JOY, she said she never got anything from you." Which was a complete lie because I had the receipt from the fax. So I send the form over to the agent with the photos of the damage and the photos I took before I parked at EZ WAY PARKING. Guess what happened next. NOTHING!!! JOY went silent. She never responded to the insurance providers calls or emails again! I guess that's how EZ WAY PARKING handles the damage they do to their customer's cars. They DO NOT RESPOND!!! So I had to pay $750 out of pocket to get my car back on the road. I'm still waiting for EZ EWAY PARKING to respond to my insurance provider. It's been nearly 6 months!!! Every month I get an email from my provider letting me know that EZ WAY PARKING is not returning their calls, emails, or claims against them. It's now gone to a collection agency. I'm sure the company policy is DO NOT RESPOND!!! My only option to get my money back is to take them to court. Which is what I'm doing now!!!
Do yourself a favor. NEVER PARK at EZ WAY PARKING at 901 Spring St in Elizabeth, NJ!!! Take a look at the photo of the damage they did to just one wheel. This is only part of the $4,500 worth of damage they did and REFUSE to fix. I'd give them 0 stars...
Read moreI parked my suv here for almost a month from January into February. During the time we were gone the Newark area had a significant snow storm. When we returned from our trip we took the shuttle to the parking lot and was pleasantly surprised to see our vehicle free from all snow and ice. However, it was about 7 pm and did not inspect the vehicle closely. While driving home, I noticed some scratches on the windshield but did not think anything of it. Next morning though I washed the suv to get all the salt and dirt off and was shocked to see my windshield and rear window were significantly scratched, actually scored in the glass as a result of parking lot staff carelessly removing the ice and snow after the storm. In addition, they deeply scratched my hood and support column next to the windshield. Lastly, my vehicle had been driven 5 miles during our absence and there were muddy footprints on the front driver side and passenger side floor mats. I called the parking lot operation and spoke with Dominick and advised him of the damage and that the car had been driven 5 miles by someone from his lot. He told me that because of the snow, they had to juggle cars in and out of the lot with another parking location and that his crew only used plastic scrapers to remove the snow and ice from the vehicle. I begged to differ and he referred me to their customer service department. I had a phone conversation with Joy from there who took all of my information and I sent her an email with photos of the damage. After not hearing back from her after a few days passed, I followed up with phone calls and emails. None of these communications have been answered. I have filed a claim thru my auto insurance carrier and they too have been unable to make contact with anyone from the parking lot operation. Unfortunately, I will have to file a lawsuit against EZWAY to recover the deductible and also plan to file a complaint report with the Better Business Bureau. My recommendation to anyone looking to park at their facility: they are a careless and irresponsible operation AVOID using their services at all costs and park at a more reputable parking facility....
