This was our first time here. We came with a large group, 8 kids. They do NOT let parents help their kids lace up their skates. We were told, there are workers to help the kids. That didn't happen. The kids, most of whom, have never skated in their life struggled unnecessarily due to this protocol. Our session start time was 2pm, after waiting in line just to get in with prepaid tickets combined with 8 kids without parent help meant our kids didn't even get on the ice until almost 2:45. Once they started skating it became apparent that 2 of our youngest skaters needed the assist devices, the workers did not make renting these easy. It was apparent that the staff is either very ill trained or literally just didn't care. It was a very frustrating experience, that could completely be avoided by have an area where 1 unpaid adult could assist kids with laces and other add on rentals, since they don't let you rent the assistant device online. If you don't allow parents to help, then the staff definitely needs to pick up the slack. Parents really need to think twice if they don't plan to skate or pay $16 to tie laces.....your kids are basically...
Read moreYear after year it is a poorly run operation. They get away with it be cause ice rinks are a rarity in this region and people here are unaware of normal holiday ice rink operational standards. On the East Coast, Mid-West the standards of operation of the Folsom Ice Rink would be considered unacceptable. The ice, is horrendous, if it is not half melted it is riddled with holes and deep groves that make it a challenge for any skater to skate on. The equipment is rundown and not properly maintained. I don’t think the skates are ever sharpened, year after year! Not only is that a hazard to the skater, it’s just plain lazy. The manager sits in the waaaaayyyy back and lets children run the place and enforce their rigid protocols. Protocols that could be balanced out with an average level of customer service, that which is completely absent! And, they get away with this because most people here in the region do not know what to expect at an ice rink! You have other OPTIONS in the area if you’d like to skate. Don’t waste...
Read moreBuyer beware. The ice rink looks nice ( a little small if your kids are just learning to skate and they allow to many people in), great music for adult, and kids alike. My biggest disappointment was with the ice skates rental! No one tells you that there is no refund once you pay, since you can't really see their faulty ice skates in advanced. Even if they told you about the no refund, you would assume that when you pay $38, you will get good - decent equipment. Fabric on the skates are all ripped, broken show laces hole/ holder, mismatch of laces which makes it difficult to tie since they seem to belong to regular shoes. Skates are not comfortable even when you go size bigger. I don't think it is right to get stuck with two options after you paid. Skate with uncomfortable ice skates and try to enjoy yourself through the pain. Forfit your money and leave. If one of those options seems right to you considering you DIDN'T find a decent equipment, then enjoy your time because they got your money...
