I was really torn between a 3 and a 4-star rating on this place, but realistically, it's more like a 3.5. Coming here was a cool experience, but there were some things that definitely put it a notch below Studio Movie Grill.
My wife and I came here, recently, to see the new Batman move at 6pm, and without the kids! We've both been wanting to see this movie since the originally trailer dropped over a year ago, and we were both pretty excided. We decided to see it here because we could eat while we watched the movie, and not have to spend additional time away from the kids by eating somewhere else beforehand
So we get there around 5:30, expecting that the place will be packed. It's a Friday, after all, so we just assumed it would be crowded. We walk in and it's COMPLETELY empty. There's literally no one there besides us. The lady at the front who checked our mobile tickets was really nice and informative, and told us how to order food, and where to go. She even gave us menus up front, which was cool. We both decided we had to go to the bathroom, before going in, and it's was kind of awkward. The woman's bathroom is to the left of the bar, and is clearly marked. The men's restroom, however, is in an odd location to the far right of the stairs, and is not nearly as obvious.
So the theater itself is a lot smaller than we imagined, and every other theater room there was showing Batman as well, just at different times. So we get to out theater and sit down. The seats were comfortable enough, and reclined to give you that LAZ-Boy feel. However, some of the seats looked a little worn out, and a few of them were ripped. Also, the food tray was not adjustable, and was a little too far up to eat comfortably.
The server came and promptly took our orders. They had pretty basic stuff on the menu, such as burgers, flat bread pizza, and a calamari appetizer. My wife got a burger with beef from Harris Ranch, along with garlic fries. I got a flat bread pizza. we both got cocktails, and shared an artichoke dip appetizer.
The food came out quick, right before the movie started, actually. We were both impressed by the service. It seemed slightly pricey, for what we actually got, but you're paying for convenience and the novelty, so take that into consideration. The food was pretty good. Nothing that would knock your socks off, but it was cool. My cocktail also had plenty of alcohol in it too. It was an old fashioned, and that's pretty much all I tasted...alcohol and the ice in it. We did really like the fries though. They were definitely on point.
So I know that the Batman is supposed to be a "dark" movie. So I'm not sure if it's just the way the movie was shot, or the projection itself, but the picture wasn't that sharp. Don't get me wrong, it's not like it was unwatchable or anything, but it seemed a little blurry at times, and that was made worse by the overall darkness of the cinematography.
One thing that kind of bugged me was that none of the servers came back to take our empty trays or ask if we needed anything else during the course of the movie. I would have ordered a beer, but I never saw them again. It wasn't until the movie was over that we discovered the little button on the front of the arm rest that would call for a server. Oh well. I just wished they put it somewhere more obvious, because I could have really gone for some more alcohol after the week I had.
So the bill, with tip, came to about $80. And no. that's not including the $15 tickets. Pretty pricey for the amount of food we got, but f**k it. When you don't have the kids with you, you gotta take advantage of the situation. Personally, I thought Studio Movie Grill was a step up from this place, in terms of seating, food, and cocktail quality. However, I would come back here sometime, mostly because the staff was so friendly and helpful, and good customer service is always appreciated. But yea, I think I'll mostly just be sticking with the basic, good ol' Palladio 16...
Read moreMy friend decided to host her birthday party from Luxe. She informed us that the movie will be from 3pm however, she was unsure about the movie. Bestowing with my friend, she needed to discuss the movie show time with the Manager. Anyways, she purchased the movie tickets for the movie called Broken. In the invite, she instructed us to meet in the lounge to hang out for 30 minutes. Given that, it was my first time going to the movie theatre in Folsom. I made a mistake of going into the Palladio Cinema. I had no knowledge, there were two cinemaâs in Palladio. I wish we knew. Luckily at the Palladio cinema, they informed us LUXE is next to H&M. Anyways, they are both conveniently located close to each other. If you are reading this, youâll avoid making the same mistake as I did.
The lounge in the LUXE is small and nice if youâre meeting up friends before the movies or after the show. And they have a full bar to sit and order the drinks.
Inside the movie theatre, you can order drinks and food. Itâs an incredible experience but for the first timer it would have been nice to know we should order the food/drinks prior to the movie. Anyways, the lady collecting our tickets at the front collected all the 20 peopleâs tickets and decided to give to the birthday girl. How would we know where weâll sit or our seat numbers? She couldnât keep track of the big party so she wanted to count our tickets again. Anyways, my friend told us picks any seats within C, D and E. It wasnât like we reserved the whole cinema to ourselves. Whole time, I was worried whether another customer would come and say it was their seat. Ha-ha. The cinema was occupied with other guests as well.
And the movie promptly started at 3pm. In other theatres, they would have ads or previews of other movies coming soon. However, this movie theatre had none. As a first timer, I was surprised. And I was searching the menu, what to order. I wish prior to the movie they would instruct us where the button is to press to call for assistance to order food/drinks. In the dark, everyone was using their phone flash lights to order food and drinks. That took our joy of watching the movie. And when they serve food, people are constantly walking around and keep asking, did you order this? When you order food, they swipe your credit card at that point. Itâs pretty fast and efficient service, I wish food ordering and delivery was done prior to the movies. And towards the end, they come and give you big fat meal. I order salmon sandwich with fries. It was delicious. For a movie theatre food, the sandwich was yummy. I would definitely order the sandwich again.
It was distracting that people have to check their phones for messages, talking in the cinema, or text message light pops up, taking pictures of the food, drinks, selfies in the dark and etc. I wish the theatre would boldly write or say in the beginning of the movie, refrain from using the phones. And some people like to use bathrooms in the middle of the movies. Thatâs another distraction when they donât know where they are going or walking in front of the epic moment.
The seats were nice and comfortable. I wish they had padding on the foot rest. The seats are similar to the century theatres. Pro tips: (1) Reserve seats ahead of time on Fandango (+$1.50 convenience fee). (2) Tuesday movies are discounted. (3) No one under 21 is allowed. I remember they asked for my ID. Outside they have a nice patio seating. It would be perfect during summer to seat and enjoy the view and drinks.
Bathrooms were nicely maintained.
This was an interesting concept but personally, it ruins the joy of the watching the movie in dark and silence. I could do all these at home instead of paying $14 for a show. If you're looking for a good way to spend the evening, come here for dinner and a movie and you can even check out the shops around...
Read moreSad this place has so much potential but horrible customer service.
We had a party of 8 for my nephews birthday. After using the app to get our snacks and drinks, I noticed the drinks came in glass cups. I asked the attendant how the refill system worked. She stated they updated their app a week ago and go to "attendant" and in the comment put "refill" with what type of drink.....she thinks... She stated she wasnt 100% sure and would be back to updated me. (She never came back) After our drinks ran low and we couldn't find anything on the app, I decided to leave the movie I paid for and go to the bar. There were 2 gentlemen behind the bar. I told them about my earlier conversation and asked how the drink refill situation worked. Basically, they stated that wasn't a feature in their app, but as a courtesy if I go get all the drink orders from my family they will refill our drinks. "Insert baffled stare"
I said, well knowing this is not a feature on your app, do you come and check on us and see if we need refills? The guy who was not the bartender but looked more like a manager, shrugged said "nope" and shook his head. I said, thats kinda weird, so if we need refills we have to come out to the bar to request our own drinks or buy another drink for $10?
He just kinda blew the situation off like it was out of his hands and shrugged.
So, I had to go back to my party of 8 and ask each person what they had for their drink and go back and tell the bartender.
After telling him what theater and row, they brought our drinks. (How generous, right?)
The guy who was obviously the bartender was very sweet, apologetic, and accommodating whilst i was at the bar and had the "i totally understand this issue" look on his face. The guy that stood next to him that pretty much dismissed the situation and basically told me I had to go get my own drinks orders was ridiculous and quite rude in his dismissal.
So, they have attendants that dont tend, they make you take your own drinks orders, they don't check on you and will full on admit to not doing it.
While I understand you may have had a system update. That is no excuse for poor customer service.
I missed a good portion of the beginning of the movie just trying to figure out where this feature was on the app for it to not even exist and then had to leave my seat to find out I had to take my own families order.
On top of all this, they charge a 15% tip when there was no real service given.
Last, my son and partner said the bathrooms were horrendous, which I can understand can be hard to deal with when a theater is busy. But they were not busy and there was only 2 rows of ppl in my theater. Every moment I spent before, during, and after the movie, they were not busy.
Very disappointed cause I know with the right staff with the right customer service attitude could be a really good place.
Thise is coming from someone who has worked in customer service for years and has been a housekeeper at the galleria. I know busy and I know rude. I am generally the most undertaking when it comes to customer service tripping here and there, but I was having a really hard time coming up with any good reason this was suitable customer service from this...
