Absolute and Complete failure. They managed to screw up literally everything.
As we entered, my group and I noticed a hand-written sign stating that certain meats were unavailable. When we tried to order we found out that many other meats were also unavailable. After playing the “is it available” whack-a-mole game for a few minutes we were finally able to order.
The rest of my group sat down, and I went to the bar to order drinks. The bartender was super nice but overworked. Eventually I got a Moscow Mule poured from a tap, which tasted like automotive coolant. Easily the worst drink I’ve ever had.
A member of my group got his food far before anyone else and even before people who ordered after us. Eventually my food came out, it was cold. Add to that the sides I ordered were replaced with two bowls of Mac and Cheese. I told the server of this. Turns out they were missing stock of several side orders too. They just failed to inform us, letting it be a surprise. Instead of asking if I wanted anything else they just decided to give me mac and cheese. Ironically, after some investigation it was discovered that one of the sides I ordered was actually available, the vegetables. When the vegetables came out, a few veggies were missing. The meat itself was good but did come out cold. Probably because it was prepared beforehand and couldn’t be screwed up.
I spoke of my experience with a friend with nearly 20 years experience in the food industry and he states that there is absolutely no excuse for such blatant oversights.
The blame here falls squarely on management and ownership of the restaurant. For the prices they charge, serving cold food and incomplete sides is completely unacceptable. Running out of stock on your most popular items is the hallmark of lazy and callous leadership. You would think that a restaurant in a hotspot location, charging premium price, would do everything they can to deliver they best experience possible. The existence of this place shows that’s clearly not the case.
Best advice is to avoid at all possible costs and...
Read moreFirst time at a buckhorn. Nice modern farmhouse aesthetic. The greeter was very friendly and explained the menu. The nice part of this buckhorn pretty much ended there unfortunately.
The bar was a disaster. Was not very busy, just two couples seated at the bar. The bartender was having a pretty long winded conversation with a couple and completely ignored me. Someone else came and interrupted her and and he got service. She mixed his cocktail, served him and made eye contact with me; She said “I’ll get to you in a sec ..” and went back to her conversation. I just waited, as at this point it had been more that 10 minutes of waiting and I was past being annoyed and got curious as to how long she would avoid me. She washed a few glasses, made a couple of more cocktails to the patrons who asked for refills and then got to me. I ordered a bottled beer and left. Uniquely the worst experience at a bar I’ve ever had.
The food was mediocre- the brisket ( I think) came in a bit cold. By the way my family was at a table during my interesting experience at the bar and the food had come by the time I got my bottled beer, so maybe it’s the wait at the bar. It’s perhaps okay to grab a quick bite here before you head to the movies next door. For anything else I’d recommend the lazy dog, Chicago Fire or pretty much any other restaurant within walking distance.
One star for the ambience, one for the nice hostess. Went...
Read moreUsed to be a great restaurant before COVID, the bartender is amazing. But recently my food came out really overdone, burger and sweet potato fries burnt to a crisp, ranch was forgotten. The mac n Cheese lacked noodles and the sausage wasn’t cut into pieces the way you would normally eat it. (4 large chunks bigger than feasible for this dish) mashed potatoes were flavorless. I have had better in the past here. Came back the next day after driving back to the restaurant and getting a refund the evening prior as they made an offer to re-do the order at another time. However when I got there, because I didn’t have a coupon they told me I couldn’t pickup my order and I had to return to work on my break. It was also 111 degrees out that day and I didn’t want to spend my meal walking in that weather with my heels on.
I miss the Fire Bar they used to have and the special menu that came with that. My mom and I would order the shrimp skewers all the time! The customer service response was underwhelming and I didn’t ask for the free food, it was offered then when I got there I was unable to receive my order. After their quality in the past, the whole experience really shocked me. Try to go when they aren’t busy. Also if they offer free food, remember to redeem the coupon. Even if you already spoke to them over the phone about the situation...
