I've contemplated writing a review for this place for a few months now, and I'm finally pulling the trigger because I think it's very important for people to do their research and not have to go through what many of us who have dealt with Petland have gone through.
First things first, the customer service was pretty good. I came in looking for a goldendoodle puppy, and found exactly what I was looking for, the associate grabbed the puppy I was interested in and let my family play with her and examine her. I did notice that before handing her off to me, they sprayed her with a heavy cologne, so she was sneezing alot. I didn't see why the cologne was necessary. Upon first meeting her, I instantly fell in love, she was precious, and she was very excited to meet us as well! I first noticed that she was wheezing and groaning when being picked up. I also noticed that she was not in the kennel with the other goldendoodle, but was instead placed with a shih tzu puppy (which was also out of place) that did not look well either. The thought occurred to me that maybe they were both ill and that's why they were placed together, as all of the other puppies were in kennels with matching breeds. I did end up taking her home that day. Throughout that day, I noticed that she was coughing, wheezing, and groaning. She also became pretty lethargic and would not eat or drink. I set up an appointment with the vet that Petland referred me to, and had her examined. The vet was not at all surprised about my puppies condition. He informed me that she was pretty underweight and had kennel cough. The vet also told me that the pet food that Petland sends home with you is not very good and that most puppies wont even eat it. Upon further examination, we found that my puppy has a rather large umbilical hernia that will have to be surgically removed during her spay. I paid a little extra to have the fecal exam done, and found out that she had a parasite as well. They gave me antibiotics for the kennel cough and medicine for the parasite. The vet informed me that they see this pretty often with Petland puppies. This did not make me very happy to find out that Petland is selling sick puppies for such a high price tag.
A couple months later, I took my puppy in to the vet I take my other animals to. My vet informed me that my puppy was overall very healthy now, that parasite was gone, she was eating and drinking well, very playful and energetic, it was nice seeing her act like a normal puppy. The vet looked at her shot records and informed me that Petland had started her vaccinations at 3 WEEKS OLD. Apparently puppies are not supposed to receive their first set of vaccines until 6 weeks old. Vaccinating puppies too early can cause the vaccines to not be effective due the antibodies in mother's milk. My puppy was 12 weeks old when we took her home and she supposedly had all of her vaccines, which is what the Petland shot records stated. You can easily find a puppy vaccine schedule online or by contacting your vet, you will clearly see that the vaccine schedule and the Petland shot records do not line up AT ALL.
Nevertheless, my puppy is in overall great health, and I am very happy to have her, she is truly loved so much. But I have to warn anyone looking to get a puppy at Petland, I would not recommend it. If you are absolutely set on getting a purebred or designer breed, look into local breeders. With the Petland puppy package, you pay nearly $5k (this does depend on the breed, the mini goldendoodle with the puppy package was $4,999). A mini goldendoodle from a local breeder would have cost me $1,300 and the puppy most likely would have been in perfect health. Also, I am not sure if you can opt out of the puppy package, but if you are dead set on purchasing a puppy from Petland, I would see if you can decline the puppy package. I looked at my itemized receipt and found that the actual cost of my puppy was about $3,500. The rest of the charges were pretty much useless. The only thing I used from the Puppy Package was the kennel.

Read moreWe purchased our puppy from Petland on 11/15/2023, He was acting very lethargic when we brought him home and at first I thought it was because he was a puppy but then symptoms started to get worse. (most puppies are hyper and want to play) On the morning of 11/18 he started seizing, becoming extremely lethargic and couldnât even stand up on his back legs. Immediately I called Pet nest to express my concern to them . The receptionist on the phone told me they do not have any availability, and he is probably scared. I took him to Creekside hospital on 11/18 when they told me no because I had a feeling something was wrong. Sure enough there was. They had him stay there for the night to monitor him due to his symptoms (refer to DR. Report) On the night of 11/20 he began having symptoms again. The morning of 11/21 I called pet nest again at 9 and they were able to get him in at 11:55. I took him there and I was told everything was fine and there was nothing wrong. Not even 4 hours later we were back at Creekside due to how bad his symptoms were. Clearly the doctor had a misdiagnosis. Throughout this whole situation we were in and out of the hospital with our dog from period of 11/18 to 2/10. We spent over 8k on medical bills and 5k on the dog itself. I tried contacting Petland at least 20 times or more to get answers and they always said we will have a manager call. Note I never spoke with a manager nor got a call back. On the day our puppy got sick I called Petland and expressed my concern but there was no empathy from them, They said there is nothing they can do and to call claims so I requested a manager. At one point in time the lady who answered the phone thought she put me on hold and said she would get the manager, little did she know I was not on hold and she stated âthis annoying girl is on the phone and wont shut up, the manager said okay tell her I will get back to her and hang upâ That right there is the most unprofessional call I have ever encountered. After that I escalated my issue to claims as I was told. I spoke with one lady most of the time due to the importance and extremeness of my claim then she left and I got transferred to another girl, there was no communication at all and the only thing I got told was my claim was denied due to no documentation even though it was sent over. There were multiple emails and claim requests but we never got a actual answer. Finally I told the lady I was speaking with who was in charge of my claim I need a answer or I am going to get a lawyer and she said that she cannot talk to me anymore and hung up. The amount of time I have spent on this is absolutely ridiculous and Petland is by far the worst place to buy a dog from it is a complete scam and I would NEVER recommend anyone to go there. When you pay 5 grand on a dog you expect it to be healthy, no one is asking for a perfect dog but in instances like this It would be expected that there will not be medical issues within 3 days of buying the dog. In the contract, it says you have 30 days to bring the dog to pet nest. Clearly shows what kind of organization they are working because they denied my dog who was in a fatal condition and would have died if it WERE NOT for Creekside helping him he wouldâve died. He had Giardia, coccidia, bronchial pneumonia, and missing vertebrae in his spine which we were told can cause long term effects of his life. Still to this day almost a year after we bought him he is still having seizures. Petland gets their puppies from puppy mills, do not let them deceive you. If you sort the reviews by lowest you will see how many others have had this horrible experience. Most of the good reviews are probably fake as well. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS AWFUL STORE. I wish I could post videos but Google wonât allow you to for reviews. Also Petland removed my review so I had to repost it :)...
Read moreCame into the store to purchase a mini aussie pooh and was given a pup that, turns out, is a dauchhound poodle. Not only was I given a dog that was not the breed that I was looking for, but when i got him, i told them that he seemed to be ill. They told me he was fine and nothing was wrong.
When he got home, he refused to eat, was lethargic and constantly sneezing and tired. I was able to get a last minute appointment and it turns out he had a pretty severe upper respiratory infection. The cost of my pup was 7,500. I informed the store and it was brushed aside as i was told "well, the medication is being paid for by the store so i wouldn't worry about it." This was frustrating since I had to ensure and take the time to give him meds twice a day for weeks.
As the pup began to grow, I noticed that he looked nothing like a mini aussie and it was confirmed by THIER own vet and my groomer, that he was in fact, a dauchhound poodle mix (they both have over 20 years experience in their line of work). The vet even went as far as contacting them and he wasn't told anything either. When i informed the store, i was told that pups go through an awkward phase and their sure that its not a different breed. (I have had multiple dogs before. NO awkward phase could make a dog look like another breed..)I sent them a photo and have yet to get a response. (I'll also attach a photo and you all can tell me what you think). My dog is long, sits low to the ground and has short stubby legs.
They gave me photos of his "parents" as my dog looks nothing like the parents so i'm not sure what they were trying to do here. I will update you all as to what they plan on doing as I have been trying to get information for a few months now, and have yet to get any info from the store (or solutions), no matter how many times i call.
They supposedly got him from a breeder (roaring river retrievers in Mo) I checked their fb page and called and spoke with the owners who both informed me that they would NEVER sell to petland and have not.
After speaking with the roaring river retrievers and texting them photos, even THEY said my dog is not a mini aussie pooh. The husband and wife both agreed. I can prove that I spoke with them and texted them. Even the vet has told them that my dog is not a mini aussie, in which the manager at the frisco location told me that he is NOT and EXPERT in dog breeds and would not be able to tell me.
I asked her who would know, and she told me nobody (but apparently she does). They informed me that I can't use a DNA test to prove it either as it is for entertainment purpose only.
UPDATE: I HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE STORE AND THE BREEDERS. LIKE I MENTIONED, THE "BREEDERS" INFORMED ME THAT THEY'VE NEVER SOLD TO PETLAND AND NEVER WOULD. ROARING RIVER RETRIEVERS ALSO SAID THAT MY DOG DID NOT LOOK LIKE A MINI AUSSIE POOH MIX. I ALREADY HAVE PHOTOS OF HIS "PARENTS" THAT YOU ALL SENT ME AND HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE EITHER OF THEM. I WILL ADD THOSE PHOTOS THAT PETLAND SENT ME SO YOU CAN SEE HOW CRAZY THIS SITUATION IS. SOLUTIONS INFORMED ME THAT PETLAND REFUSED TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE AND DECIDED TO NO LONGER COMMUNICATE WITH ME ON THE MATTER EVEN THOUGH THEIR OWN VET SAID ITS NOT A AUSSIE POOH.
ACCORDING TO THE LADY MANAGER, HE'S NOT A SPECIALIST IN DOG BREEDS EVEN THOUGH HE WENT TO SCHOOL TO TREAT DOGS SPECIFICALLY FOR CONDITIONS RELATED TO THEIR BREEDS.
I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO REITERATE THAT MY DOG WAS ILL UPON PURCHASING HIM AND I NEVER GOT AN APOLOGY EVEN THOUGH HE WAS SICK AND THEY DISMISSED IT WHEN I FIRST GOT HIM. HE COULD'VE DIED IF I HADN'T BEGGED TO BE SEEN THE FIRST TWO DAYS. MY DOG WOULDN'T EVEN EAT BECAUSE HE...
