If you ever find yourself in Galena and want to check out something other than the amazing down town area… head just a super short jaunt to this sculpture park! Take an easy stroll through a lightly wooded area to take in some great welded sculptures all done by one guy! To the haters, this is a form of art, to each is their own, no need to hate just because a certain form of art doesn’t meet your liking. Enjoy what the man enjoys doing and then move on to other things you find more appealing!

As an artist, I truly enjoyed this park. It is like a free outdoor museum with some small, mid-size, large, and humongous sculptures you would not see in a real museum! I had the honor of meeting the artist, chatting with him and learning about his artwork which he has been perfecting for over 40 years. This park definitely exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something to do while in Galena.

A hidden gem in Galena, the West Street Sculpture Park plays host to several large welded structures that are beautifully assembled works of art. Each enticing a different theme to invoke inspiration, wonder and awe to the viewer. If you have 15 minutes or 5 hours to kill be sure to check out this unforgettable landmark.

Always a joy to see the new pieces over the years. “Stairway To Heaven” was a new one to me and it’s amazing- you could almost miss it so look up and everywhere. Such a magical place and I will always return. I’ve been going here since I was a kid and will bring my future children here.

Great little sculpture park with plenty of interesting pieces to look at. The artist has repurposed many odds and ends into very fun artwork - often with humorous twists and wordplay. The style is probably not for everyone, but we enjoyed it. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Amazing place in a gorgeous setting. The sculptor, John Martinson, came out and spoke with us. What a brilliant man! He is still making his sculptures, but on a smaller scale these days. Brilliant wit and fun visit! Donations for park maintenance are welcomed.
