The ladies here are so sweet and kind. Must stop in for a plethora of menus, lodging choices, and shopping information. Grab the Galena visitors guide with 2 maps and lits of points of interest labeled. The sweet ladies here can answer any question you have and give you information about events not listed in the visitors guide (like the Saturday Farmers Market!!). Also, there is a public bathroom close by that is clean, smells nice, and always contains...

Small Visitor Center. Not a lot of helpful information on the history of the area. The DeSoto house, on Main Street, has two videos that run continuously that are free for the public to view in their " quiet room". If you're a history buff these are very good and informative. My wife fell asleep during them but that says more about her then the...

Visited Tuesday, May 28. Walked in...neither women at the desk greeted us nor acknowledged us during the entire 10 minutes we were in the center. Did not ask if we needed assistance, nor offered knowledge of things to do in Galena. Sat at their desks...one working on computer, the other eating her lunch. Not a great way to start our...
