We just stayed in Suite 6 for the past two days. The location is fantastic. We could have walked to Main Street but we chose to drive. It's so nice to have the parking lot on the side of the building and not across the street (traffic). The building is really neat and taken care of. We were on the first floor so though that was nice for coming and going, it wasn't as great during sleep hours because any movement upstairs was easy to hear. We were woken up much earlier than we'd have liked due to the creaky wooden floors but you'll have such acoustics in an old building. Big pros: super comfy king bed. Amazing sheets which I googled and will be purchasing for our home! The cozy charm with such an old home with original wood floors and around the windows. The couch was nice and comfy to watch movies at night. It's great to have a little fridge to keep water and alcohol cold. The water from the shower was soft water! It felt amazing on my skin! Towels are luxurious and folded so fancy. There was a bummer and that was that the whirlpool didn't work. Nate was quick to check it out and call a plumber. Unfortunately it wasn't fixed in our time there but hopefully will be good the next guests. Nate was on it, the plumber was there first thing in the morning. We were compensated for the whirlpool not working and didn't even have to ask. Highly recommend this place but we might suggest a room not under other rooms. Oh, they even have a hot tub room outside! I didn't know that so we didn't bring suits. Bring yours! They even had a Happy Anniversary card waiting for us when we got in the door. The service and hospitality is really valuable because you don't get that everywhere. You'll...
Read moreCharming luxury all suites hotel with a late 1800’s feel located a block and a half from Main Street and all the fun shopping, dining, entertainment and excitement of the storybook town of Galena. If you are a “Gilmore Girls” fan you’ll enjoy the “Stars Hallow” little town vibe. The weekend we were there we even saw 2 troubadours! We drank red wine in our pajamas while soaking our legs in the large jacuzzi tub with views of stained glass windows and then ate apple cider donuts in front of our cozy gas fireplace. I recommend telling Alexa (who is already set up for you in your room) to play John Denver Season Suites Late Winter Early Spring (but for me it’s a Fall song) You’ll want to thank me for that. We enjoyed our delicious complimentary breakfast outside in the garden area, which was beautifully decorated for fall, next to the hot tub cave and a massive fountain. We were surprised and excited to find some very fresh seasonal homey items included in the breakfast buffet like apple butter and pumpkin spice muffins and creamer. Nate was a very helpful, readily available, detail oriented, welcoming host who explained that the rooms were recently remodeled and upgraded. The only thing that really has to go was the beautiful magnifying mirror in the bathroom. When we each took turns sitting on that dainty chair at the vanity counter and looked in the table stand mirror….we were horrified by the magnified old wrinkled faces looking back at us!! What ever you do, don’t look in that mirror! LOL😆🤣LOL You should plan a visit…you’ll have a great...
Read moreNate, thank you! My husband and I so enjoyed our time in suite #5, in the comfortable “home away from home” feel, that was perfect for us as the weather in galena this January was less then 5 degrees each day. The tub was wonderful, couch was comfy, decor was lovely.
Nate, the owner, was shoveling snow from our walkway and steps when we arrived, and we were able to check in early even though we weren’t there yet. We did not partake in breakfast, as I think it was just us staying there and didn’t want to make him set up a huge spread just for the two of us. That being said, I doubt he would have minded, but I was able to communicate with him easily through text messages. I felt very connected to the space, and it felt nice to have one on one connection with the hotel manager and owner. I hope he enjoyed sleeping in, if he was able to!
That being said, location is absolutely KILLER for walking to Main Street. Helpful book provided by Nate makes it easy to access popular restaurants and such— very helpful. We intend to return, perhaps in the fall, to see the historical sights and such. Thank you for the lovely time.
Note for future guests! If booking for the winter, consider booking last minute. The prices plummeted for our trip which was a big disappointment for our budget. Normally I would balk, but we did spend all our time there, and so it’s okay by us this time. We will consider booking last minute in the future to avoid that problem!!!
Fabulous choice to stay at Nate’s Hotel Galena! Have fun and...
