My dogs and I like to travel to Galena, IL every 3 or 4 weeks. It is a three hr ride so the pups are ready to get out, have a quick burst of energy and a quick drink. I like that an outhouse is provided along with a couple of cemented in picnic tables. Just the necessities for a quick picnic, come prepared. No water or bar-b- ques that I have noticed. Although you could put in a kayak or canoe on the river. We then hit the trails or walk about the neighborhood taking in the beautiful historical architecture. We like to walk to nearby Grant Park, very nice, rich with local history, the dogs appreciate Jordan's Fountain, and a cool drink for dogs in the park, Excellent 👍. One of the places we really enjoyed here is the old Blacksmiths Shop where you literally step back in time. The shop has been there since before electricity came to the area. There is a small informational kiosk with pamphlets, free Wi-fi, and even charging outlets for your electronics!
