To Whom it may concern…
I wanted to express my unhappiness regarding my visit to your theatre last night. I rarely visit this location due to constant problems with the staff and management but it was easiest for our group to attend the Hollywood 20 than the usual Simpsonville location. The concession area was a total mess. No napkins, poor service and the manager whom we spoke to about purchasing alcohol was very glib and short with us because of an item not in stock. Telling us “that’s a corporate sign” as a reason why something wasn’t available. I still don’t understand why it wasn’t as that was the only reason given. There were no napkins available at all and the area was just dirty in general. This was at 6pm for reference. The film itself, M3GAN, was fine. Good sound and presentation. No issues there. The major issue I had, and the reason why I write to you, was what happened after the film. I was subjected to hearing one of your managers fire an employee in plain sight of the customers. She was off the clock, I believe, seeing the same movie I was. An absolutely horrific display of unprofessional behavior. I heard the reason as she (don’t know the employees name) wasn’t allowed to tell another employee to help an elderly male employee help clean after the show. As someone who has worked many places I can honestly say this was one of the worst displays of mismanagement I have seen. To discipline an employee in the hallway in front of customers was abhorrent. At no point should a manager ever do that in plain sight of a customer or in mixed areas. This was a “behind closed door” action. I personally would have fired that manager ON THE SPOT if they were in my employ. I would have also done that in an office area not in the hallway. This is obviously a case of rampant poor management at the location as this has to be something done regularly considering how easily they did this. This manager must have felt comfortable just firing an employee in plain sight of customers. This would be bad enough to deal with on its own without the fact that the manager also said something about the employees medical condition as well. I didn’t catch all of it but something was said regarding her having a seizure at work and how she needed to “control her condition”. How? How could you allow a person in your employ to comment in public on another's medical condition? That goes beyond unprofessional and borders on illegal. Sharing a medical condition to others not privy to it is the MOST unbelievably dangerous things someone could do. A violation of the principles of privacy that a company is entrusted with. I have been a long time attendee of your company. I regularly attend the Simpsonville location but chose the Hollywood 20 this night. If this is the type of attitude or regulation your company is running I will never return to your theatres. This action should be dealt with swiftly and professionally because this manager and their actions are reflecting poorly on your company. If this is the way Regal wishes to act then Regal shouldn’t be in business. The action the girl took wasn’t even worth firing anyway in my opinion but that’s on you to determine. In the privacy of an office setting and not in the hallway in front of paying customers. If anyone deserved termination that night it wasn’t that girl it was the...
Read moreAs a business owner and father, I don’t take writing negative reviews on other businesses lightly. But this has got to be done. Hollywood Cinemas on Woodruff Rd in Greenville, SC has turned into the most racist place ever. My 12-year-old daughter and I went there like we always have for the last 7 years to watch a movie, not once but three times, and were treated so poorly. The first time we went to watch the movie Minecraft, the all-white kids in there misbehaved so badly they had to stop the movie twice for 20 minutes at a time. They were smoking, throwing things, etc., so we left. We stood in line behind another family who also left, and they were able to get a refund. We were told I needed my original receipt. I showed the lady my bank statement online, and she said it wasn’t good enough. So we left, wasting $40. We came back this week to watch another movie. While I was at the kiosk getting tickets, my daughter had to use the restroom. I told her to go ahead, and the guy stopped her at the restroom, saying if she didn’t have a ticket, she couldn’t go into the women’s bathroom. As I walked up and asked what the problem was, he repeated himself. I told her to go ahead before she peed on herself, and I told him it’s a public restroom, and he can’t stop people, especially kids, from using it. She came out, and he checked our tickets. We watched our movie, and coming out, the same bathroom was closed, so we had to go to the one on the other side. Yes, this same guy stopped me this time, the one who just checked our tickets coming in. He told me I had to show him my tickets again. I said, 'Man, you can’t be serious,' and he demanded my tickets while I was standing outside the bathroom waiting on my daughter to come out. He called two other guys over, then a third came over, and then the manager came, demanding my tickets. Mind you, a couple in front of me and a guy and his daughter, all white Caucasians, came from the same side we did to use the restrooms. He didn’t stop them. He didn’t acknowledge them, not one time, to question anyone but me. The manager was rude. When she came over, she made a scene, and they still demanded my ticket while others walked right past. I asked to see the manager. She said she was the manager. I said, 'Her boss,' and she told me that there was no one available, that I had to email a general email if I had a problem. She scribbled the email and marker that was not legible on a napkin. Mind you, just a week before, the movie theater was 99% white Caucasian. They were smoking, cutting up, and acting crazy, and not once did they have this many people to handle that group. I will be following up with a civil discrimination suit against this location, and I don’t care what it costs, because you can’t treat people this way. I will be posting everything to my YouTube channel, all my social media,...
