I do not know about some of the other negative reviews about this store but my experience at this COX store this afternoon (12-24-2024) was very positive. Let me explain. First of all, I drove all the way down to Hampton, VA this morning from northern Virginia to visit my 83 year old mother. While I was there, I decided to get my mother a smart phone to replace her old fashioned flip phone. My mother already had internet service and a landline through cox. Her flip phone happened to have service through a different provider. The reason for going to the COX store was to buy my mother a smart phone and add another phone line(cellular) to her COX bundle and ditch the other provider she had for her flip phone. To make a long story short, it was a very challenging task because I had to do all of that at the COX store while my mother was at home. The service I received at the COX store by the sales representative was the best!! Not only did I get things done, the sales representative went above and beyond in order to make things happen. I am happy to report that my 83 year old mother is learning to use the smartphone I got for her. She is picking up on things pretty good. I would also like to point out that it was the sales representative who suggested that I get a particular android phone that was user friendly to elderly people. This worked out great!! I would also like to point out that this new Android phone only cost like $21. Yes, you read that correctly! $21! The sales representative also got it to where my mother’s total bill with COX is only $93. This includes internet, one landline, and one mobile line. I was connected to the customer service line after setting up services with Dominion Power on May 9th. The representative told me I would pay $70 for the plan I selected, but I wouldn't be charged until the next month. We selected a date for the technician to come to my home and she told me they needed a card on file then we'd be done. I was immediately charged $150. I asked the top why and she connected me to someone else who said that shouldn't have happened. According to her, I was supposed to be charged $50 for the technician. I did not authorize any of that and she said they could credit it to my account or cancel the whole service. I canceled the service, received an email stating it was canceled, and expected to receive my money back. After 3 weeks, I filed a dispute with my bank which they denied. I called cox today June 11th and was told the refund was never issued. Why would Cox think they should keep my money for no services rendered? FRAUDULENT. I had to threaten to file criminal charges and hold on the phone for almost 20 minutes for the rep to tell me I will get my money. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Update: It has been over 5 weeks, I still have not received a refund, nor have I gotten an email stating my money will be refunded. I WILL BE PROCEEDING WITH CRIMINAL CHARGES. Read moreWhen I first got the cable installed they sent a tech who didn't have the slightest clue of what he was doing. He got to my house at 8am didn't leave until 7:15 pm and the cable STILL wasn't on. He stated he was coming back the next day but when I called that same evening the techs notes said the job was completed. I had to schedule for a senior tech to come the next day he had it up and running in 15 minutes. Then the storm came and I went without service for 4 days although I had power that part is understandable. Then you guys had a so called outage and then received a text stating my service was restored. I get home and see CAST on the box I did all of the basic troubleshooting ....unplug the box from the wall wait 5 to 10 seconds and nothing!!!! The send a tech out here today SAME RESULT NOTHING yet his notes state compled. COMPLETED MEANS EVERYTHING IS DONE, UP AND RUNNING .not completed on his end. So now I have to wait LONGER for another tech to come out because no signal is coming to my home .Everything worked fine until a tech came to my downstairs neighbors house then all of a sudden my cable went out. Cox needs to change the name from Cox communications to CAN'T COMMUNICATE. I have never gone through this with a cable company before VERIZON FIOS IS LOOKING REAL GOOD...
