Went to mission BBQ the Monday following Christmas. We placed a huge order for 12 people. The person who took our order at the front was SUPER sweet and patient even though there was a line building. The staff that gave us our food was very kind and showed me everything. Ribs were tender, the brisket was flavorful, the beans are spicy and still have a bite so we were happy to see they weren’t mushy…family loves the Alabama and the sweet heat sauces. I gave four stars because the corn bread was abnormally pale and tasted of flour. No sweetness nor cornmeal flavor…I know everyone doesn’t make their cornbread sweet but it didn’t taste like cornmeal either…it was crumbly and very bland. We are based in northern VA and Mission is a regular place to visit so we love it just - please take our suggestion of adjusting the cornbread recipe :) :)

Fast and friendly food and service. 6 different BBQ sauces and a roll of paper towel on every table. Pulled pork BBQ sandwich and baked beans were excellent, probably the best I ever had, baked beans had pulled pork in it and tasted like BBQ sauce in the baked beans (I could be mistaking). When we were leaving, saw folded card with Reserved on the card, asked a lady employee about it, and she said they had tables reserved for a group of 30 military personnel coming in. I asked her about all the military memorabilia on the walls, and she told me that 2 people related to the owner served in the military (one of the World Wars, I think) and some younger relatives of the owner is currently serving in the military, so Mission BBQ was opened to/for/in their honor.

Two words. Holy hell. This place is just.... Mouthwatering good. Like words can't even describe it. I got the NC BBQ sandwich with fries and baked beans which has brisket in it. Omg. It was the best thing I ever had. My mouth is watering again just thinking about it. Everything was made to perfection. The fries perfectly seasoned, the beans piping hot fresh and pork BBQ...so tender and juicy it just makes you crave more and more each bite. The workers there are so helpful and friendly and I love how much this place supports our veterans. They are extremely fast on getting your food out. There are also so many sauces to choose from on the table and lots of drink choices. This place is a must eat at and I love everything about it.

If you’re looking for incredible BBQ in Hampton, VA, Mission BBQ is the place to go! The food was outstanding—perfectly seasoned, with the brisket being the absolute star. The bark on the brisket was out of this world—so flavorful and delicious that I had to turn around and come back for more!

I also tried the blueberry cobbler, and wow, was I surprised at how much I loved it. The crust was divine! I’m already counting down the days for when the peach cobbler is back—it’s my all-time favorite, and I wish it were available year-round.

The customer service was just as exceptional as the food. I had the pleasure of meeting the new manager, Eric, who was beyond stellar. He was so attentive, kind, and genuinely cared about making our experience top-notch. My cashier, Neisa, greeted us with such warmth and positivity—it was clear she loves what she does.

You can really feel the impact of great leadership here. Eric’s management style shines through in the entire team’s attitude. Everyone was happy, accommodating, and welcoming, creating such a great atmosphere.

The food was served hot, fresh, and fast, and the restaurant was spotless. Mission BBQ in Hampton has earned a lifelong customer in me. Thank you, Eric and Neisa, for an...

My first time here. Im in town on business. I will typically look for bbq places when im traveling. I love the atmisphere. The decor is based around commemorating the military and first responders. It was a hard debate on what to order as I really wanted to try several things. Isettled on tje mest sampler after talking to the cashier and the manager. I orsered the lean brisket over the moist and the pulled pork and turkey. The manager just gave me a peice of the jalapeno and cheese sausge to try as i was debaring hard on getting it as one of the 3. The customer service here is going to be hard pressed to be matched much less beat by any place. The workers all seemed to be happy and enjoyed being there. Extremely positive experirence. The food was all amazing. The turkey with tje alabama white sauce is a must try. Everything was cooked very well and tasted great even without sauce. There are several different styles of sauces on the table to choose from. All the sauces have uniquley different flavors to fit different styles and go well with the different meats. I highly recommend...

While in Hampton for business, I decided to give Mission BBQ a try. I am so glad I did. Let me start with the customer service. Having not been to a Mission BBQ before, the cashier took time to explain the menu and how each of the choices were served. She was courteous and helpful in helping me decide my order. While waiting for my order, a member of the kitchen/service staff greeted me and initiated a conversation. She was polite and shared information about the restaurant. Later, she made a personal invitation for me to return for another visit. This level of customer service was greatly appreciated. The food was very good. I had the chopped BBQ and sausage with fries and greens. The BBQ was tasty and the serving was ample. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was delicious and not too spicy. The fries were crisp and lightly seasoned. The greens could have used additional seasoning, but were fine. The six sauces available on the table added flavor to the meal. Overall, I am glad I chose Mission BBQ. The meal was good, the atmosphere nice, and customer service...
