This is one of my favorite brunch spots. I have a friend that meets me monthly and the call or text will start are you free for brunch tomorrow? Sure were? And both of us text First Watch. This is going on now close to a year. I’m right now deciding when I text the July invite it will just be brunch at First Watch. Why? First the place is awesome centrally located at least for us, at Von Schilling. The vibe and energy as soon as you walk in you pick up the positive energy from the crowd already there enjoying themselves. And I have never walked in and been able to see more than 3 empty tables. They just stay busy. And the crew from Greeters, to servers, to the cashier at meals end are so polite and friendly they want to make their customers feel welcome. Ok the food. Wow what a great menu if you want traditional breakfast they have it eggs, any way, sausage, bacon, toast. But step it up they have awesome skillets that have amazing components you might not have thought to use for brunch. They also have soups, salads and sandwiches for lunch. And in addition to the regular fountain sodas. There’s a selection of fruit juice pick me up/ nutrition drinks. First Watch is definitely a dining stop to add to your list. You will leave satisfied with a smile on your face. And making plans for your next visit.

First time going went with a large group of 12 we showed up and got put on the list it was about a 15 min which honestly was not that bad. Once seated menus, silver wear and coffee cups were already at the table (that's a plus). The Decor was great simple yet enough to keep you looking around. Server was great and attentive he joked around with us but not to the point where it was annoying. I got the lemon ricotta pancakes and the Million Dollar Bacon (we'll get to that shortly). The pancakes themselves were good the lemon curd was good not to tart, Now this Million dollar bacon as it was good the name might need some revisiting. I was expecting a baked on candy type coating with some spicy to help my life, it honestly tasted like some extra pepper bacon that got to close to my Aunt Jemima syrup. The bacon could use some work or just a bit more attention cause I want the Pork on my fork but the way It was I could have just gone to Dunkin and got me some snackin Bacon. Overall great place to come and eat would definitely visit again and try more of their menu.

The service was great and the coffee in the waiting area was a nice treat to drink while we wait. Our wait time was about 10 min on a Saturday during brunch time. The food was fantastic! 5/5 stars on flavor! I ordered a honey bacon hash with brussels sprouts, and my husband got the eggs Benedict with grits and million dollar bacon (candied bacon) for a shareable. The candied bacon was nice and peppery with that sweetness from the glaze. The eggs Benedict was a regular eggs Benedict with a hint of lemon for added freshness. My hash was in a large bowl, I couldn’t finish half of it! It had sweetened Brussels sprouts, a lot of onion, potatoes and cheese. I wasn’t a fan of the goat cheese sprinkled on top. But overall, it was a nice savory breakfast. My only complaint was that the dishes were a little questionable on the cleanliness. The “bowl” part of my spoon was clean, but the handle was sticky to touch. The glass cup to pour water in had some small food stuck on the outside of it.

Google needs to allow zero or negative stars to do reviews. This place is TERRIBLE. For starters, they claim to have healthy, vegetarian and vegan options but they do not. Secondly, the waitress told me that they can make things Vegan- so I ordered a meal, I chose one she had suggested could be changed, and made adjustments to the ingredients and then the food came out and it was disgusting. When I asked the waitress why so many things were missing from the meal, (kale, basil pesto, herbs/spices...) she said when she wrote vegan on the food ticket, that changed it- stating “most of the flavor in the meal comes from the quinoa being cooked in chicken broth, and the pesto is a pesto ranch” (on the menu there is zero mention of ranch, it states ‘basil pesto’). She then gave a blank stare and repeated that it is a ranch pesto. She should have instead come back to tell me this would happen and see if I still wanted to order that meal!

Especially because the other item I ordered, I asked if it was vegan and she said “it depends on what you think of vegan as...” which does not make much sense- as with vegans the only thing I have seen different is that some eat honey, some do not. I said everything listed here is vegan, but can you ask the chef if they know the recipe better and if there is anything not listed here, please come back and let us know so we can see if we still want it? She agreed but never returned.

Then my husband ordered avocado toast, which came with eggs, when he asked to substitute mushrooms, she said there would be a charge.

Aside from these MAJOR issues, the “toast” that came with the AM superfoods bowl was not toast, it was cold bread with almond butter. The bowl itself was half the size of what’s pictured online. For $9, it was a ripoff, there was barely a tablespoon of granola, and maybe 1-2 strawberries.

I will say, when I decided to talk to the manager about these issues, he was extremely apologetic, knew the right things to suggest had he waited on us, and was genuinely concerned, asking if our bill was taken care of (my meal was comp’d but my husband’s was not but we had already checked out...). Hopefully they will take my advice and make some changes to the menu and especially to their...

Overall, for our first and last experience, it was disappointing.

Pros: Food tasted good and it was presented well. Our server was very pleasant. Decor was very nice. The coffee had great flavor. The way the hostesses take your name and phone number is really cool - you get a text when the table is ready! Lastly, the restaurant dining room was clean!

Cons: When we received our text saying the table was ready, the hostesses realized the table assigned to us was given to another party. It turns out the Manager on Duty was assigning parties to tables. The hostesses made it very clear that they could not assign a different table, since the manager was the only one seating tables. . . We finally got our table.. the hostesses had to go find the manager TWICE to get us sat (yes, there was empty tables throughout the dining room when this was an issue). We got our table - waited 5 minutes for a server to greet us. She arrived, was very friendly, but, offered us coffee and immediately asked us if we were ready to order. We ordered. No suggestions on what was good on the menu. The server didn't ask if we had been here before, etc. We then waited 30 minutes for our food. During that time, I sat and watched the manager pace through the dining room assigning tables (hopefully, he got better after his mix us with ours...) and never once LOOKED AT THE KITCHEN! He never once looked at a plate coming out of the kitchen! The food finally arrived. It was cool to the touch. At this point, my wife and I decided that the flavor profile was good, but when it takes 30 minutes for an omelet, I expect it to show up at least warm, if not not HOT! The Manager on Duty must have walked by us 30 times during our time there and never stopped and asked any of the tables how the food was. Disappointing. With my background in food and beverage, I know that hair longer than a quarter of an inch should be restrained by a hat, hair net, or beard guard. The manager had long facial hair that was un restrained. I can only imagine what the staff out of sight could have looked like.

We won't...

I'm a very well tracked chef I say to make sure it's understood that have a very expensive pallet so when I say this I say it from a professional perspective...the food was underwlemingly disappointing after ordering green tea and waiting 15 mins for the server to bring me hot water and tea bags there was no where else to but down...I ordered biscuits and gravy (which from what i understand is a southern specialty) as well as two pieces of chicken apple sausage. I was disappointed beyond measure first the potatoes they called hash brown were crunchy and not because they were over cooked but because they were undercooked then I moved to the biscuits and gravy which was the next dissapointment tasted as if the put cornbeef hash in redeye gravy and served it which wouldnt be a problem but it had no flavor no taste no seasoning it tated like nothing but had a sweet after taste then to top it all off I tasted the chicken apple sausage and again was disappointed. Do you know how hard you have to try to give sausage no flavor keep in mind I can see the seaonings in the suave I just couldn't taste anything I mean not even a hint of apple sage red pepper nothing...I informed the server of the issue and she was very helpful and concerned about my dining experience so she grabbed the manager and he was again very concerned about my dining experience he told me to pick what ever I wanted he would cover it I didn't want anything but he insisted I again declined of course he brought something out anyway which was a tostada with avocado eggs salsa Verde and cilantro I took one bite sent it back and told not to bring me anythings else...again do you understand how hard you have to try to get all the flavor out of salsa verde its insane I have never had a more hyped up disappointing meal! The service is great but the menu and there kitchen is beyond...
