I started seeing Dr. Orlando last year for my wrist injury, and ended up getting a new prescription from my primary MD so I could continue working with Dr. Orlando on my chronic neck and shoulder pain. Dr. Orlando provides excellent care with extended, individualized attention-- a typical appointment includes about 30 hands-on minutes alone with the doctor.
Unlike other PTs I'd been to in that past that asked me to complete the same few exercises on my own and treated me for just a few minutes, Dr. Orlando worked on my wrist during each appointment, using a variety of techniques catered to my injury (e.g. ART, Graston, stretching, strengthening) that he adjusted throughout the healing process. He taught me how to tape my injury with professional tape so I could continue to work out despite the significant injury. The Graston especially helped me heal faster and gain flexibility.
I ended up continuing with Dr. Orlando to work on my neck, because he gives a great "sports massage" that my insurance paid for (!) versus paying for a massage therapist who would not understand the root of my injury and needs.
Marcia, the other physical therapist at the practice, also gives undivided attention and helped me integrate my yoga practice/knowledge into healing my neck and shoulders. She is great about modeling quick stretches and techniques to strengthen. She taught me very cool exercises to help with jaw tension.
Both physicians are personable, attentive, caring, and flexible. They clearly stay up-to-date on new techniques and research in their fields.
The waiting room is a bit busy because several practitioners share the space, but scheduling is efficient and there's rarely any wait time. Patricia receives patients warmly and can answer any questions about billing or coverage. Treatment rooms are private and peaceful.
With Orlando PT, you never feel like just another patient or chart-- they really care about their patients, making individualized...
Read moreI first came to know Orlando Physical Therapy in 2015, when after several consultations with an orthopedic surgeon and a round of MRIs I was diagnosed with Chondromalacia. I was told to do 4 months of PT and if symptoms don’t improve consider a surgery. Wary of surgery, skeptical of PT, but in pain I decided to give a try. During my first visit, Dr. Orlando spent about 25 minutes examining me (which is more time than the surgeon spent with me during my 3 visits combined) and said that he believes I have hamstring strain, not Chondromalacia. He pointed me to a knot deep in my hamstring (had to press strong to feel it) and said that the scar tissue from the strain causing the pain. Doc used some metal tool, which I later learned called graston to break down the tissue…immediately I felt much less pain. Over the next 3 weeks, I did the graston and strengthening achieving a full recovery. I was sold on dr. Orlando, so when a few months ago I developed a patella pain in a different knee (turned out to be runners knee), I chose to go directly to him, bypassing a knee surgeon. Again, he did a thorough examination and prescribed a therapy consisting of graston, taping and exercise. I am in my week 3 and had a first run without much pain yesterday. If you are in search of PT, I strongly recommend Orlando Physical therapy because of his:
I recently underwent dry needling and Kinesio taping treatments as part of my rehabilitation program for knee pain and patella stabilization, and I am thrilled with the results.
To begin with, the process of dry needling was surprisingly comfortable and more effective than I had anticipated. The therapist skillfully inserted thin needles into specific trigger points in the muscles surrounding my knee. While it may sound intimidating, I barely felt a thing. The therapist was highly skilled and guided me through the entire process with great care, making sure I was comfortable and relaxed.
The dry needling treatment proved to be incredibly effective in releasing tension and tightness in the muscles. I experienced immediate relief in terms of my pain and stiffness. It was amazing to feel the knots in my muscles melt away, enabling me to move more freely and without discomfort. The therapist also explained to me that the dry needling stimulates the body's natural healing process, promoting blood flow and enhancing recovery.
Following the dry needling, I underwent Kinesio taping to further stabilize my patella and provide support to my knee. The therapist expertly applied the elastic tape in a specific pattern designed to facilitate proper tracking of my patella. The Kinesio tape provided a reassuring level of support while still allowing for a full range of motion. I found it to be incredibly comfortable to wear, and it provided an added sense of stability during physical activity.
Overall, I highly recommend dry needling and Kinesio taping for anyone struggling with knee pain and patella instability. Don't hesitate to seek out a qualified therapist in your area to experience the benefits of these...
