Maui Divers Jewelry Design House — Attraction in Honolulu

Caution! Caution! Caution! If you feel that you need to purchase jewelry from Hawaii, I encourage you to look for retailers other than Maui Divers. There are others that also have great looking, high design. I was very excited to get a Black Friday email from Maui Divers Jewelry back in November. I ordered three of the single pearl drop necklaces, expecting to get something similar to the picture in the email. I had purchased from Maui Divers in the past, while on Oahu, and was impressed with their designs and quality. When the pearls arrived, I was devastated. As you can see from my pictures, I didn’t get anything like what was pictured in the Black Friday email. So, I contacted the customer service to see if I might be able to return my purchase. I was told that they had a no return policy on the Black Friday purchases. Interesting. It would appear to me that they used Black Friday to unload their poorer quality merchandise on those of us who do not live in Hawaii. We have spent lots of money with Maui Divers in the past. I love their designs! However, I would caution everyone, if they feel the need to purchase from Maui Divers, to only buy in-person after they have seen and touched their purchase. Also, I would offer that there are now other retailers in Hawaii that provide beautiful designs with a more customer oriented purchase and return policy. My phone call with customer service manager was not helpful. No alternatives were offered. She actually hung up on me. I am out over $100 and looking for replacements for these gifts. We were visiting Honolulu the week of October 16, just before our cruise. This was our second time in Honolulu, 9 years apart. While the first time, we did pick a pearl with MDJ, and end up with 4 white pearls, my husband had turn two of the pearls into earrings, and I took the other 2 back with us to Wisconsin. In mean time, one of my pearl earrings separated from the white gold...so, when we returned to Honolulu, the first thing we did, is to stop at Maui Divers Jewelry, I brought my earrings for repair and my 2 pearls back and the MDJ staff helped me pick a lavender color pearl and created a 3-pearl neckless. I absolutely love it, and it goes perfect with my white pearl earrings. MDJ also repaired my earrings at no cost, and we toured their jewelry design center, there was a video we watched, and I've noticed a pair of earrings showcased in that video, best part, they had the earrings in stock. Beautiful black Tahitian pearl in white gold, simple but classic, and timeless. Because we were heading on our cruise, Alicia was fantastic at keeping in touch with my husband David, keeping him updated on my neckless and earrings repair, and Maui Divers Jewelry had all my jewelry ready for pick up at the airport upon our return from the cruise. Because of Covid our Maui Diver's shops on Kaua'i have been closed. I wanted to order bracelets for my daughter and two of her friends for their highschool graduation. I can't think of a more perfect gift to give a young girl graduating from school in Hawai'i. My daughter and her friends are going off to college on the mainland and I want them to all have something that reminds them of home. It was very important to be able to have a special message engraved into each bracelet. I wanted the messages to be in Hawaiian as well. I reached out by phone to the Oahu location and was lucky enough to have Tessie to help me place the order. She knew exactly what I wanted and took time to help me get everything just perfect. I sent her an email with the special messages for each girl and she made sure the engraving was done exactly as I had asked. Tessie offered the old school professional service that I wanted and couldn't have had just by ordering over the internet. And the bracelets were made and shipped to me in less than two weeks time.
