I don’t know why this place has such a high rating. The service is terrible. There are multiple waiters taking orders at the same table, so orders are missed and repeated to different people over and over again. And yet it takes forever for things to get done. We had asked for the check multiple times before one of the many staff gave it to us.
One of our waiters did not write our order down and had put an item down twice. When she came to drop them off, we told her we had only ordered one and she proceeded to approach us in a rude manner to tell us that we had ordered two, when we had not. The two times we’ve been there, we’ve had 3-5 waiters. The service is so disorganized and there seems to be no communication among the waiters. We were asked about ordering apps twice by two different people. We were never asked to order as a table but instead had our orders taken in sections.
The menu is so odd. There is a blend of way too many cuisines that it’s impossible to do one well. It makes for a very confusing and random palette. Each dish ordered was mediocre, at best. Ordered the hamburger steak and the steak was so hard- as if it were days old and reheated. We came here earlier in the week and ordered the udon and it came cold. We returned later in the week and asked for the udon to be served hot and the waiter tried to tell us that we had ordered the cold udon. There are only two udons on the menu and both are meant to be served hot. Our appetizers arrived after we had already finished all of our entrees.
To preface, we were visiting from a place where it’s not customary to tip 15-20% but whatever you can, and especially only if the service warranted the 15-20%. After the meal was paid for, by my sweet aunt who was trying to do the right thing, we were approached by the aforementioned female waitress who asked my aunt if she tipped on the bill. Also rude because my aunt was on the phone when she was approached and the waitress didn’t back off after seeing she was busy on the phone. The questioning came off as guilt tripping us or shaming us into tipping more. Only after the waitress asked if we tipped (saying something to the effect of- you gave us x amount for a x amount bill), did she say “we just want to know if we did a bad job”. If you were genuinely curious about your performance rather than the tip amount, wouldn’t you have led with that question instead? My aunt felt guilt tripped and gave her more money, explaining she’s not from a place where tipping is customary and asked what the tip would be for our bill. the waitress gave an estimated amount and stayed there as if waiting for us to give the rest to complete 20% of the expected tip.
We asked to speak to a manager and the waitress said they don’t have one. How is it possible there is no one on a shift who is a supervisor or a lead to deal with difficult situations? Is this how you treat patrons of your establishment, let alone visitors?
If I could give place zero stars, I would. Do not waste your time and money coming here, especially if you’re visiting. If you come here for their drink prices, I’m sure there are many other establishments where you could go for just as a good of drink specials, better service, and...
Read moreJust moved to town so decided to wander around and randomly stumbled on this gem. You could literally walk right by it and miss it. The beer signs were what caught my eye from yonder. I was thirsty and just got off work so gave it a try. Man, am I glad I did because this place is great!
I managed to catch their happy hour which surprisingly runs until 7pm! Quite the selection on the happy hour menu for both drinks and eats. For a snack, I had the pork lettuce wraps which turned out to be tasty. The bowl of filling was a little small but ended up being the perfect snack size and they don't skimp on the lettuce which is a plus imo. EVERYTHING on their happy hour food menu is only $7 and they offer quite the selection to pick from. I can't wait till try everything else on there.
Drinks on the happy hour menu were yet another pleasant surprise with quite the variety and great pricing. $2.99 16 oz pours of Kirin on tap is probably the best deal on there and definitely why I'll be back again and again. Next time I'm going to try the house made sangria which is only $4! You cannot go wrong with their happy hour, that's for sure!
Service was above par. Friendly staff. There was good music playing with videos for a little entertainment. Seating was spread out and inside occupancy was reduced for these COVID times. Overall clean while totally giving off a quaint and solid locals bar feel. Actually the exact bar feel I was looking for! Only a 4 minute walk from our new place, I think we found our new...
Read moreFound this amazing little gem by mistake and the first time we went we were unable to be seated because of how busy it was!! Sooo naturally we tried again!! Let me say the only thing that could be improved was ambiance. It’s a bit loud in the back room where we were sat, having said that it wasn’t unacceptable.
Now for all the amazing. The happy hour is unmatched. The prices have been raised since some of the other pictures were taken but just by $1 mostly. The regular prices are really reasonable. I do with the portions were more consistent and a little bigger.
Pork kakuni was delicious but 3 pieces of pork belly in the first dish and 5 pieces on the second order.
The pork lettuce wraps were okay but again 4 pieces of lettuce and not large pieces. So the portions need to be more consistent and I feel larger.
The antipasto was really good and that dish seemed full but only came with 2 pieces of rolled ham and they were 1 bite each.
The agedashi tofu was really good and had a good amount of tofu with it!
The rock shrimp deep fried was okay, but nothing much more than a shrimp cocktail with some sauce, which was pretty damn good.
The sake drinks for $4 are delicious!!
All in all this place is really delicious and a great value for what you receive. I’ll be coming...
