It's a good day if you awake and see the sun rise, a good friend would always say. Because his health was not so and he knew time was dwindling. It's a message he would share with anyone and everyone because we should all be grateful for each moment we have on this planet earth. I spent a day in Kailua and discovered a wonderful little store front named the Nick Kuchar Art & Design Company. As I walked by a vintage TV set in the window caught my attention. The old TV had such a sharp image. To my surprise someone cleaver had installed an Apple iPad inside the box as a replacement screen.Fantastic! As I looked around further I discovered many other items. I was amazed to find the artwork and design concepts of Mr. Kuchar so simple and calming yet detailed and exciting. It takes you back to another era that is classic and cool. It's like being at the beach surfing, traveling on Pan Am airplane or riding in some sort of sports car. Spending the day here made it special. Buying a few items as well you can bring home some beautiful memories and make each day...
Read moreThe Nick Kuchar team has created something truly special in this new space. I have never seen a pop-up that looked more like a permanent store in my entire life. I think I read that they put this all together in an extremely short time (a single day?) and it looks like they've been in this spot for years. Upon entering, you are immediately transported into the world of Nick Kuchar. It is like a vintage capsule of yesteryear that we all somehow missed. It's a magical state of "new vintage" that he captures with every piece of art that he creates. Even if you aren't in the market for artwork right now, do yourself a solid and take a little wistful stroll through the gallery. It will lift your...
Read moreIt's a really great, extensive shop. Has all most of the items on the website and maybe a couple special ones I didn't notice. It's great to be able to see the high quality of the items in person and ask questions. I ended up getting the coffee mug aince you could really tell how nice it was in person versus just looking at a polished photo of it online. Customer service was great. I really wish they would sell their postcards individually because I really don't want to have to pay $28 just to get one postcard that I'm interested in. I asked about Kama'aina discount and there is none. Other than that, it's a good store and great for souvenirs for your mainland...
