Poi Bowl in Ala Moana offers a fresh take on classic Hawaiian comfort food. Their Loco Moco features a base of rice and smooth, earthy poi that complements the savory elements of the dish.
The hamburger patty is juicy and well-seasoned, with a tender, not overly thick texture. The fried egg is perfectly cooked, with a runny yolk that blends into the gravy. The gravy itself is lighter, letting the other ingredients shine without overwhelming the dish.
The portion size is generous but not over the top, and it’s reasonably priced for the quality. The dish is balanced, flavorful,...
Read moreFor a mall food court takeout line food establishment, this place is pretty good. They focus on local kine grindz plate lunches. They have classic Hawaiian and to mixed culture dishes that get tossed into the mix.
If you want classic lau lau, kalua pork and cabbage, to chicken long rice, local style beef stew or a gut filling loco moco, Poi Bowl has it all. Even some Filipino classics like tripe stew and pork guisantes. You can get a mixed plate of local favorites or order ala carte if you have a favorite dish.

Read moreWe got our food off of DoorDash, I’m a local and I am very picky with my Hawaiian style food. 10/10 with the laulau it’s not just pork it is real laulau with fish in it not too much kalo leaf I love the stem and they had that. Hot and ready to eat! My husband got the loco moco, now it’s his place to go next time we visit. He said it was the best loco moco he had in his life! My son is not a pork eater but loved the Kalua pork and rice. I’m picky with my chicken long rice I would say 8/10 cause it needs more ginger and green onion but it was still soooo good! We got kanak attacks after eating it. The poi just want to add in here is a bit too runny for me but still good. 👍🏻 and the last part the lomi salmon that one was a bit too salty but still 10/10 ! This is true local food and I will be back to try the...
