Went there today for dinner and had a disgusting experience. I ordered pickled radish rolls first thing after sitting down, and they didn’t show up. This is a common occurrence for this location, often flat out forgetting to send out sushi. When I asked a waitress about this, they sent one out on a blatantly dirty plate covered in crumbs and tempura skin. The item I ordered has nothing that resembles any of the crumbs on the plate . It’s clear that the kitchen did this purposely, the other sushi guests were receiving were not in this condition, only mines. The sushi was chopped at all sorts of different sizes, not caring at all. Additionally the sushi was on a dirty plate used for premium sushi, the one I ordered is 2.15, i.e the cheapest thing on thing on the menu, meaning they just grabbed any old plate. It’s not shown too well in the photo but the plate had a number of suspicious oily smears. This Genki Sushi like most is usually average at best, but let this be a cautionary tale about asking to get food that you didn’t receive. For all we know they could’ve smeared their nuts on the plate. Historically, Genki Sushi is a filthy establishment, even causing a Hepatitis outbreak a few years ago. To anyone with a compromised immune system do not risk eating here, even the safe stuff isn’t entirely safe.

Headsup disclosure... extreme personal bias HaHa! This trip to Waikiki was after a 42 year absence. My wife and I came to Waikiki on our honeymoon 42 years ago. So of course coming back was filled with much sentiment and good vibes. Everything to my mind was good here in Hawaii... the weather, the Pacific ocean, the friendly people includong fellow travellers. I thought the dishes here were some of the best that I have ever tasted and we have a lot of good sushi restaurants in Vancouver. To verify my thoughts,my 2 millenials agreed and they go out way more than me and my wife. I have 2 photos. The salmon was so fresh and delicious, the sushi rice was perfect, slightly warm, soft and chewy, just seemed to melt in your mouth like the salmon. The other is softshelled crab. I will be 72 years old on June 27th and I actually have never experienced soft shelled crab. A term I have heard the young people say is " OMG". Let me say the crab with that sauce was OMG good. We ordered it twice!. Friendly staff. Dishes ordered came to our table on a mini train! Another new experience. Highly recommend this place. It's in Ala Moana center..simply the largest mall I have ever been to.

We came on a weekday at 1130 and waited for about 15 min for a table of 5. They dont take reservations. Hostess still takes temp before seating you. Once at tablez its easy to choose what you want to eat as there are photos for wveron the menu or the ordering pad. Its fun to watch the food come out on "boat" and you press a button to send it back. Dishes with soupy items tho get served to your table directly. Service was great. They came to ask us if we were doing okay even without pressing the call button. Made sure our water was filled all the time. When finished they count the color of plates you have then you bring that ticket to the register to pay. All the color plates are also labeled on the ordrring screen when you pick your items. It only allows you to pick 4 items max at each order, but you can keep ordering still.

Ok, so we're at Ala Moana Shopping Center and one of the reviews was to try this "sushi restaurant."

As luck would have it, the line wasn't that long before the place opened and we were seated.

The interior of the restaurant was nice and clean but I'm used to the sushi boats floating around.

This one is unique in that it has a belt that delivers the delectable morsels to you.

In order to get what you want, you first have to place an order on this touch screen tablet, which has pictures of what you might be interested in.

Call me old fashioned, but this felt somewhat "impersonable." Oh well, I got over it.

After placing our order(s) it didn't take long for it to arrive. As a matter of fact, I was quite impressed with their little operations.

Other than special requests, there is plenty to choose from to satisfy any palate.

The sushi was fresh and very good. I also had the Udon, which was also very good.

Although I found that ordering your sushi by computer was somewhat impersonal, I guess it's just another new gimmick to attract customers in.

By the time we left there was a wait time for tables so I guess my suggestion would be to come early.

I guess it was just dumb luck that we didn't have to wait as long for this popular eatery. Call it...

The worst customer service ever. I’ve been to this location multiple times. This recent experience with them today totally doesn’t cut it. Extremely disappointed with the way they handled everything from the moment I walked in. It’s like the workers are so careless and clueless. A management that seems to make their own customers seem so uncomfortable while being inside the restaurant totally shows me how horrible their management really is. It disgusts me how they thought that looking at us after our unsatisfied sushi plate that was sent to our table that was sent back to the kitchen, instead of apologizing and trying their best to make it better they made me feel uncomfortable and I ended up going to the front to pay for the one plate that I ate. Such an appetite spoiler. The cashier simply had very poor communication skills and had to keep shouting out to the bus boy bussing our table of the total amount of plates we had. I never been so displeased with Genki’s. This location is not the one to come to unless your okay to be treated this way. I applaud them for such a great fake act. Thank you, I won’t come again. Rate ** NO STARS 👎🏻 I hope they fix their management, how...
