This was a place we went to on a daily basis as we live down the street. Today I went to pick up coffee from Starbucks like I do most week days. The parking lot can be very busy which I am used to waiting. There is always an open spot if you patiently wait. I waited for 5 mins or so and I crept forward to make sure I wasn't holding everyone up (as everyone does) I reversed back to the line of cars patiently waiting a man got out of his car and proceeded to yell at me and hit my car (which contained myself and my two toddlers). I had my windows down and I was so scared I couldnt get them up as he was yelling at me because I was pulling into a parking spot that I had been waiting for. A security guard was called by Starbucks after I called them and he proceeded to blame me after a 5 mins chat with the man. he told me he would call the police on me. The man and his wife stood outside of their parked car screaming at me curse words and the purity officer chose to blame me. He also mention he needed to call the police to chat with me and "what did I want him to do about it." I have walked or driven to salt almost every day. I will find another place I feel safe going to with my children obviously the security is...
Read moreSalt used to be a place to enjoy a variety of local food, shops, and entertainment as recently as ~2 years ago. With the new parking system (which will always charge $1 for a “service fee” unlike the old system where the first hour was free..) and many of the high-traffic shops having closed, the quality of the experience no longer holds. A handful of the long-term spots have held out, while many others could no longer afford to lease their spaces and were pushed out/had to close up. This isn’t just an issue with the salt complex as it’s happened across the island, putting many smaller and local creators and vendors in a space where no affordable space lasts. Sad to see the new parking situation turn into yet another cash grab- whether the “service fee” goes to the lot owner or the parking service, the cost was passed on to the customer regardless. Owner should consider a Hawaii resident discount, like many other large cities offer for their...
Read moreLove love love this area! We have spent so much time here this visit then ever before! We love how dog friendly the area is The Only draw back is the amount of flies present.
Which I contribute to ppl allowing their dogs to use the bathroom wherever they want. A simple fix would be to have the areas where dogs use be sprayed daily to eliminate the attraction to flies, in addition to fly traps away from sight. But seriously we love this area!
