Why is Houghton the Birthplace of Professional Hockey? Visit the Dee Stadium in Houghton, Michigan to learn more about this unique claim to fame. The Keweenaw Peninsula has several indoor and outdoor ice rinks, but the Dee Stadium is definitely the oldest! In fact, it is the 7th oldest ice rink still in use in the world!! #keweenaw #keweenawpeninsula #upperpeninsula #deestadium #houghtonmi #icehockey #hockey #historyofhockey #birthplaceofprofessionalhockey #hockeyislife

If you like hockey, then you need to stop by Dee Stadium. The rink was freezing but well maintained. Unfortunately, there were no drop in hockey sessions scheduled during our visit. We did get to skate for free during a public skating session. There is also a nice museum display about the teams and timelines.

Went for the free open skate. Lots of families and friends enjoyed the ice! My kids absolutely loved the skating even with falling and trying again! Incredible of dee stadium to let us use the ice for free on Sundays!

This place is great, it includes open skating every Sunday, and it is a nice way to spend quality time with your friends or family skating around the rank (Winter Only). It is defently big, and they occasionally smooth out the surface to skate smothely. It also includes a room that you may use for other puposes such as party or gathering. I do defently...

I've grown up around the dee and even as a kid the bleachers were dangerous so now that I have kids of my own they scare me even more. As a kid I fell off them once, thankfully didn't hurt myself just a bruise or 2. The bleachers should really be replaced. I'm so happy the bathrooms are no longer dark and gloomy they are now white and...
