The Prickly Pine Café is such a gem in downtown Houghton! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and has a unique, nature-inspired vibe that makes you want to stay a while. You can tell the owners put their heart into making it a cozy space for the community.

The coffee is excellent—smooth, flavorful, and they have just about every option you could think of, from classic cappuccinos to fun frappes and specialty drinks. The food is equally impressive. I tried the cheddar biscuits (the jalapeño bacon cheddar is a must!) and they were fresh, hearty, and absolutely delicious. Their mini quiches and egg bites are also perfect if you want something light but filling.

The staff is friendly and attentive, and even when the café gets busy, they make you feel taken care of. It’s no surprise the place has been packed since opening—it’s quickly become a local favorite.

If you’re in Houghton, The Prickly Pine is absolutely worth a stop—whether you’re grabbing coffee to go, meeting a friend, or just looking for a spot to relax with great food and a good drink. Can’t wait to see what they add next as they...

The Prickly Pine Cafe happened to be my first stop on a long weekend here in the U.P. and a fortuitous one at that! Not only was my iced dirty chai amazing (I find they can be very hit or miss to my taste), and Asiago bagel delicious but the owner Rob was a great conversationalist and filled with a wealth of info regarding the area. I came up here with minimal direction on what I wanted to do or see, and left with a list so fast I’d have to move here to see it all! Such a great little gem,...

Wonderful local cafe. Owners are a husband and wife and you can tell how much love and care they have put into the place.

Lattes are the best in Houghton.

Food is better than it right to be. We got free breakfast at our hotel and kept finding our way here instead. All are made in house as best we can tell. Beagle sandwiches are insanely good. Quiches are wonderful. Biscuits are amazing.
