Called ahead looking for stillhead trout, they answer in a friendly manner and were very helpful. only had rainbow trout that's okay am cooking for my grandma's 71st birthday and wanted 180.00 dollars worth they informed me itd be about 22-23 pounds. When i arrived they brought the fish out in a tied up bag so I could inspect it. Looked beautiful so we paid got it on ice and headed home. Upon getting home as customary anytime I buy fish, poultry and various meats I wash with cold water, vinegar and lemons to remove any small particles or bones that could have gotten on the food from cutting. After washing and letting sit in solution. I drained the liquid and patted all the fish dry with paper towels. I closely inspected fish and while most of the pieces had no odor whatsoever some had a very odd and unpleasant smell. Not fishy like bad fish or fishy like fish at all it just had a odor and I noticed it was more prominent on the lighter flesh pieces of fish. Also after washingand drying the fish was still slimy on some pieces where others were dry. This of course is concerning as it makes me question the freshness of the fish and the last thing I want to do is feed anyone of my grandmother's 100 guest bad fish. Additionally there is no indication or label on any of the bags as you might usually receive at a butcher or or market that shows important information relating to sale like weight, price per lb, etc. Nothing even on the receipt. Overall I would not return, there are a few other fish markets and this experience was enough to make me not want to go back. But thank you...

I love this place. Wait. I want to say that again. I just love this place. First of all, it's clean, clean, clean! No rancid fishy smells. Why? Because this market values fresh fish and a clean environment. Sounds simple, but it's so rare. The staff at Blue Horizon couldn't be nicer. They are well informed on the products they offer, and they are personable, likable people. It's a little pricey here, yes, but it's worth it to me knowing that my shopping experience will be so positive and the product will be high quality and fresh. The one thing that would make shopping there a little better for me is an upgrade to their website. The fish they sell changes depending on the season and what's available. I would like to be able to go to the website and see what is available without having to call them or drive over in person. That would be more convenient for me and it would be easy for them to do. But this market is outstanding, and my small complaint about the website doesn't change that. I'm going there today when I get off work to find something to...

Tried this place today after all the glorious reviews of how 'fantastically fresh' all the fish is at this store.... After opening my packages to start preparing dinner, I can only deduce 2 possibilities for the fish quality: 1) today was an anomaly and the fish is not usually this terrible; or 2) the majority of people using Yelp or Google have never had fresh fish. I guess it's my fault for not insisting on smelling the fish at the store before purchasing. Also, I was curious as to why the dude was wrapping my fish in plastic and using 2 lbs of ice on it...I thought he was just being nice! Turns out that if he hadn't, I probably would have passed out whilst driving home from the ammonia stench emanating from the shrimp and scallops. The salmon was OK, the shrimp were borderline smelly and mushy (although I choked them down after cooking them well done), and scallops reeked so bad I ended up tossing them away. ...

Glad I finally walked in after years of meaning to go! It does say they sell to the public but who wants to walk into a small house, knowing nothing about fish, and risk feeling like a moron. They were super kind and totally helpful (sorry I didn’t get names). I honestly walked in - “salmon for 6” And the girl who grabbed it, got the amount was perfect. We even chatted about how you’re supposed to cook salmon and I confessed that I was going to cook it all the way through, no raw middle for me. The guy was totally cool and said you have to cook it like you like it. No snobbery here! You could tasted and see the quality. In the photo the left is Blue Horizon and the right is Kroger. Happy to pay a bit more for that. Look it! Thanks Blue Horizon. See you next time

Want to make poke? Sushi? Or anything needing high quality fish? Well then this place should be on your horizon. High quality and more importantly fresh fish and seafood can be found here. The selection is fantastic (usually more options than are found in the case). Friendly staff who prep the fish and pack it generous amounts of ice. Parking can be tight on the weekends.
