This is one of the worst H-E-Bā€˜s. It’s literally just down the street from the Alabama location, but yet what you find at Alabama you can’t find at Buffalo Speedway and vice versa. It’s really annoying that they can’t all stock the same stuff. Especially with all the affluent Asian families, the Asian section leaves something to be desired. I guess they’re all smart and go to Chinatown and ranch 99 / The mini chicken and vegetable frozen wontons that were at the Alabama location. I came all the way here just so I didn’t have to drive through Montrose and the lights and they don’t even have it. I should’ve just gone to Alabama So no not consistent or reliable / but the store is everywhere so I have to go to it/ Thank God for Amazon F.U . No organization /pure chaos to check out /I waited from 8:15-30 to try to get checked out // Honestly I probably just could’ve pushed my cart right out the front door and no one would’ve even noticed. Instead I just pushed it in an open lane and left I was so frustrated with the lack of people actually working there and monitoring the situation and Business flo / too many of these places have become dependent on the self checkout things which I qualified for I had less than 10 items but it wasn’t worth waiting 15 minutes in other chaos and no organization of a line anywhere. Also they should consider with it being summer and hot people are becoming later at night to avoid the heat I don’t think their staffing accordingly or put in more self checkout lanes is it gonna be automated 9-9-24; not everyone can get into H-E-B before 8 PM and sometimes nor do they want to… But every time that I go after eight, there’s a gamble if I will have the protein that I’m gonna need for my meal prep that I’m going to be doing. I can see that everyone is busy, restocking, the shelves and the coolers.. It’d be nice if maybe whoever’s working in the Meat department could check to see if anything’s empty or any holes in the case and stock for the people that come in after eight// As a customer, I now have to re-organize my next day to try to get to the grocery store before there’s no one there to help me to ensure that I get the meat that I need for my recipe. .. I have noticed when I have gone to the hebs in Katy which are huge… There’s never a hole in their cases /stocked full / This H-E-B on Buffalo Speedway, and the one on Dunlavy both suck w staying stocked / I’m not sure if it’s the patrons or the store or both -Hoping someone reads this and maybe considers if there’s a solution to having everything that’s available between 9 to 6 available for those people that come after 8 PM as well. .. Maybe if someone starts a trend on TikTok calling out stores with empty shelves after certain times/ to be better stocked for all its patrons not just the 9-5 crowd .

HEB, a true Texas icon, stands as a grocery haven that captures the essence of Lone Star State living. The moment you step into the store, you're greeted by a sense of familiarity and a tangible connection to Texan culture. The wine selection at HEB is nothing short of amazing, showcasing a carefully curated array that caters to both wine aficionados and casual enthusiasts. From local Texan wines to international gems, the variety ensures that there's a perfect bottle for every occasion and palate. The cheese section at HEB is a gastronomic delight, offering a diverse range that could satisfy even the most discerning cheese connoisseur. Whether you're in the mood for creamy Brie, bold cheddars, or artisanal specialties, HEB's cheese selection is a journey through flavors. When it comes to desserts and cakes, HEB has mastered the art of sweet indulgence. The bakery boasts a tempting array of treats, from decadent cakes to mouthwatering pastries. Each bite is a testament to the commitment to quality and the pursuit of dessert perfection. And let's not forget the meat market – a carnivore's paradise. The quality and variety of meats available make it a go-to destination for anyone planning a barbecue or seeking the freshest cuts for a home-cooked meal. The meat market at HEB ensures that every steak, chop, or sausage is a cut above the rest. In essence, HEB isn't just a grocery store; it's woven into the fabric of Texas culture. The amazing wine selection, diverse cheese offerings, heavenly desserts, and top-notch meat market collectively make HEB an indispensable part of the Texan culinary experience. It's more than shopping; it's a celebration of flavors and a nod to the rich tapestry of Texas living.

I had an order scheduled for delivery tonight at 9:00 PM-10:00 PM. It is now 11:30 PM and my order has still not arrived. I cannot get ahold of anyone at H‑E‑B or Favor to figure out what the heck is going on. I need to go to bed, however have food in my delivery that needs to be refrigerated immediately. I have no idea what to do and am at a loss with HEB and beyond frustrated. This is the second order in the last month that just has not been delivered to me. The first time, the response was a shrugging of the shoulders and just canceling my order. There was no attempt to quickly get me my groceries or provide store credit for the enormous inconvenience. As a loyal HEB customer that spends hundreds of dollars per order, with multiple orders a week, I expect to feel like to you I am a valued customer whose business you would like to keep, not the complete opposite and a number. HEB appears to want to be seen as a Ritz Carlton, however operates like a Motel 6. I am a competitive fitness athlete, so getting my groceries timely and correct is a non-negotiable for me. HEB seems to treat it as a negotiable, despite always taking my money upfront with expensive delivery fees. I am curious how they choose to resolve this. Update as I’m typing this: I finally got a ahold of an agent at the store. I explained I was just wondering if my order would come tonight. She curtly told me ā€œcurbside is closed so you just need to wait until tomorrow to find out.ā€ I just asked if she could see if it was being delivered and she sighed and said to wait until tomorrow. Great. I also checked the app again and this is simply all it says now. What does this mean? They still have my money. DO NOT USE HEB DELIVERY!!

UPDATE 5/1/25:

Quality of product and customer service are a direct refection of the quality of management and brand.

Right now HEB Buffalo Speedway is delivering a very high quality of product and customer service THROUGHOUT the store.

Oh. Almost forgot. Saved right at $22 today shopping at HEB Buffalo Speedway vs. the Kroger across the street.

This is the second week in a row we've shopped at HEB exclusively.

Total savings over the past full week (three shopping trips) are about $60 or approximately $20 per shopping list as compared to Kroger.

One example: Canada Dry Ginger Ale 12 pack, $5 at HEB compared to $11 at Kroger. These kinds of savings are storewide at HEB and are the rule, not the exception. It adds up quickly on a basic shopping list.

On top of the savings, HEB Buffalo Speedway is fun to shop, the quality of products are high and the people throughout the store are upbeat, friendly and helpful.

And when it's all said and done, it ALWAYS gets down to the people .

ALWAYS.

LOVE THIS STORE.

Previous review:

Great management. Great people. Great store.

Had been shopping Kroger since January 2023.

Starting to shop at HEB Buffalo Speedway again recently.

Noticed three things:

HEB has gotten its act together and the produce and store overall are looking great. Clean (floors especially). Well stocked. And the in-store shoppers are no longer in the way as they used to be.

HEB Buffalo Speedway is really getting it done, representing the brand well and living up to their TV commercials.

I attribute this to strong leadership and management.

The people throughout the store are friendly and customer oriented. Happy to see you. And they are HAPPY to help you.

Actually, the store associates seem cheerful and happy. They come across as liking their work. That's kind of nice. Goes a long way and sure makes shopping more enjoyable.

Happy employees matter.

The prices are noticably lower throughout the store than Kroger Buffalo Speedway, with very few minor exceptions that don't matter.

Today I spent $82.51 at HEB Buffalo Speedway. If I had purchased the same items at Kroger Buffalo Speedway across the street (using the Kroger Card, downloading all digital coupons, and assuming all the discounts are accurate at checkout which they rarely are), I would have spent over $100.

Every shopping trip for me it is getting easier to choose HEB Buffalo Speedway over Kroger Buffalo Speedway.

Gets down to

Store leadership & management.

Produce, proteins & product quality and availability.

Pricing.

People that care and treat their customers, not with indifference but rather in an engaging, proactive and positive manner.

For me, HEB Buffalo Speedway is achieving all four items...

My impression has DRASTICALLY CHANGED in 2023! I am STUNNED by the incompetence and inability to help at the Buffalo Speedway store.

They have a free item coupon every Sunday. But OMG you have to work.

One week I went through a checkout lane and they SCANNED MY ACCOUNT BARCODE FROM THEIR APP ON MY PHONE. But STUNNINGLY THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO PRCESS/INPUT YOUR ACCOUNT AT THE ATTENDED CHECKOUT.

Unfortunately just like the attended checkout, THEIR SELF-CHECKOUT SYSTEMS ALSO LACK THE ABILITY FOR A CUSTOMER TO ENTER A TELEPHONE NUMBER REGISTERED IN THEIR ACCOUNT to access their account to use clipped coupons, etc.

The Self-Checkout Systems are EVEN WORSE! I scanned the barcode of my account from my phone app, BUT IT WAS UNABLE TO PROCESS IT SO THE FREE ITEM WOULD NOT PROCESS. Pathetically SADLY after dealing with 5 different employees over 2 weeks, NO EMPLOYEE at Buffalo Speedway KNOWS HOW TO GET IT TO WORK EITHER. Finally an employee said just take that item since it’s free anyway.

Every other major grocer with an app allows A CUSTOMER TO TYPE IN THEIR PHONE NUMBER or give it orally to the checker AND THE SYSTEM RECOGNIZES THE CUSTOMER ACCOUNT. From friends and past experiences in other states, that function is also available in numerous other grocery store Apps even though they are not currently in the Houston market.

This is TRUE AT KROGER NATIONALLY.

This is TRUE AT RANDALLS NATIONALLY.

This is TRUE AT WALMART NATIONALLY.

This is TRUE AT SAFEWAY NATIONALLY.

This is TRUE AT ALBERTSONS NATIONALLY.

This is TRUE AT PUBLIX NATIONALLY.

This is TRUE AT PIGGLY WIGGLY NATIONALLY.

This is TRUE AT WINN-DIXIE NATIONALLY.

PATHETICALLY THIS IS NOT TRUE AT H-E-B on Buffalo Speedway. Since NOBODY AT THAT STORE EVEN UNDERSTANDS THE CONCEPT, I HAVE TO ASSUME IT IS TRUE AT ALL H-E-B LOCATIONS NATIONALLY.

WOW - very sad to be that far BEHIND ALL OF YOUR COMPETITORS 😭.

From 2020: I have a health issue now so using the Curbside Pick Up was great. If you order the day before pick up, there is no charge for the service. The young lady who brought my groceries to the car was very friendly and courteous. I wish HEB didn't charge 3% for a fee but it's still a...
