FUNGUS. This place used to be the best and I went here faithfully for years for full sets and pedicures until new management took over and it got really dirty and there was a fungus infestation because they weren’t cleaning their tools.
Management has tried to deny this fungus outbreak that my friend, myself and I suspect others suffered through. I was even approached by Ben, the owner, at HEB one day. I tried to avoid him because I stopped going and had a PTSD like reaction to seeing him and remembering the fungus. He stopped me trying to rush by and asked why I left and I told him because the place had given my friend and I am embarrassing fungus AND HE TOLD ME IT DIDNT. Just straight up denied my reality! He said I got it from somewhere else- like what?! Everyone who regularly gets their nails done knows they stick with their regular nail techs because finding someone who does it well and knows their style isn’t easy so you generally stick with the same salon. I had not gone anywhere else and spent a lot of money at that place every two weeks faithfully for years!
They are also bullies and have been harassing the talent that left when this happened. Not to mention- they would double book my appointments and sometimes I would be waiting for an hour+ past my appointment time to be started. They also began to charge extra for things that should be included like cleaning the cuticles when you’re paying $70 for a full set! I don’t like leaving bad reviews and would have bowed out quietly but this place is a hazard to others health and is generally engaging in bad business. Go at...
Read moreWent in for a Milk and Honey pedicure and a shellac manicure. There were numerous problems why I will not being coming back here -
Manicure was done by a guy that was rough with the service. First sign I knew this was not going to go well was when he did my manicure with a bowl of ice cold water. I am not exaggerating! I am used to nail shops using a bowl to do manicure while you are doing a pedicure, but this is the FIRST time my hands have ever been dipped in some ice cold water! I don't think the guy cared if it was warm or not and just got whatever water.
Shellac machine was very dirty, and barely came on. I had to move my hands a certain way for it to come on, and when it finally came on, it was so hot it was burning my hands. Once again, this was a first, and not in a good way. I told them that it was very hot but they didn't change the machine out. I have had shellac done numerous times and the machine has never been that hot where I am actually concerned.
Lastly, the pedicure was not as terrible as the manicure but one of the services that come with the pedicure is a "hot towel" at the end. The towel the lady put on my leg was wet and cold! What is up with these people and cold water services!
Any who, I expected more in the area of town they are located in and was disappointed. I came on my lunch break because it was close to other places I needed to go but won't...
Read moreThe incessantly sweet ladies here know what they're doing. I walked in on a Monday afternoon and was tended to immediately. Christine, the kind woman who did my pedicure, offered me a drink and then began to work her magic. She and I talked for a while and I truly enjoyed our conversation. Right before I could nod off she was finished and my toes were perfect - my favorite French pedicure to date. She made them squared more than I usually get with great results... instead of that ugly rounded French pedicure that makes your toenails look like something off of Barney. I then sat at a table to get my French tip gel mani. Lisa was a little more coy. She was quiet, careful, and quick. My manicure turned out to be lovely, and Lisa also promised, "crawfish proof." Both my hands and feet were good to go in about an hour and a half. Another plus - all the products they use are labeled and the ladies here keep everything very sanitary.
The best part of my mani and pedi was the price. TWENTY ONE DOLLA?! Well $21 for a normal spa mani pedi and mine totaled to $36 for a French tip pedi and gel French tip mani. You can't beat the price and quality. We will see if my nails stand up to the crawfish test, otherwise I will be back in a month with change from my couch to touch up my...
