Drove into Houston to visit The Hat Store today with my son. I had ordered an AHC 6300 Straw for the summer. When it came in I was really excited to get it as I've been waiting over a year for that particular hat to come in. When I entered, my son and I were greeted by Brayden. He asked what he could do for us today and I explained I wanted a slight change to the brim of the heat I had just ordered online a couple of weeks back. I also brought one of my other hats with me to have the brim reshaped as well. I found out something that I wasn't aware of at the same time! Brayden informed me that straws weren't as easy to reshape as a felt!!! But, he said he'd give it a try. He worked on both of them and got them a lot closer to the look I wanted than they were before!! Very thankful for his help on that! The next order of business was to find a Hat for my young son. He found an AHC 7400 in a 6 1/2 size that was just a little big, but would work just fine. He said he could add a little padding in the back to help tighten it up on the front although it did tighten a little after shaping. He worked with my young one on how he wanted his crown and showed him quite a few shapes he could pick from. He chose a standard Cattleman or Alpine shape for the crown and then he picked more of a cutter crease for the brim being a little more squared off in the front. He let him bring a stool around behind the counter so he could watch him work on his new Hat. I think he was really excited to watch him shape his Hat up close!!! It didn't take Brayden long and he let him try it on for size before putting the finishing touches on it and his name in it. I want to give a shout out to Brayden for doing a great job and working with my boy on his first "Real" Hat! He loves it!!! I also got to see my old friend Gary Cohen who just happened to be there helping out today! As always, I'm very pleased with the fine folks here at...

Was recommended to The Hat Store from another hat shaper because The Hat Store carries open crown hats. When I came in the store Danial met me and asked how he could help. I was overwhelmed with the amazing selection of hats. I could literally go broke here! Full disclosure, what I had in mind and what I walked out with are completely different… Danial looked at the pictures and I even brought in a vintage Stetson that was bashed into a fedora style. I’m not a “cowboy crease” guy. Danial the consummate professional worked a number of different version of crowns. After Danial cut down the brim, marked where my nose lined up. Bit of a crooked nose from a misspent youth… Daniel and I came up with the absolute perfect crease/shape. I wanted a more flat brim but to my surprise Daniel put a little rocker in the brim. Looks amazing to me when I opened the box after the huge amount of steam Danial had to use to make the hat a long oval and the dramatic front pinch I was after. Danial also let me make a rear crown dent since the hat we chose was Silver Belly and I felt it needed some more contour to make the hat really “POP”. Danial really took my little dent and perfected the look I was after.
Side note. I live in San Francisco and if the hat wasn’t perfect I couldn’t get the hat shaped there.
Danial knocked it out of the park!
I know there are other shaper at the Hat Store and one gentleman added some input I needed, just to reassure me… the hat was perfect. That’s not a slight in anyway to Danial cause I asked and that’s on me totally…!
Thanks Danial! I’m making an appointment for next year cause I’m already thinking of a new...
Read moreFrom the moment I stepped into The Hat Company, I knew I was in for a treat. As someone on the hunt for my first true fitted cowboy hat, this place didn't just meet my expectations – it exceeded them! The staff here are the real stars; they're not only super nice but incredibly knowledgeable. They patiently explained the ins and outs of hat making, guiding me through the fascinating process of custom-fitting a hat.
What really sets The Hat Company apart is their dedication to traditional craftsmanship. They follow the age-old method of shaping cowboy hats, which involves precisely cutting the hat to fit your head, and then using hot steam and an iron to shape it. This hands-on approach gives each hat a unique character and a perfect fit.
Their range of styles is impressive, allowing customers to create a hat that truly reflects their personality. I opted for a 50X beaver fur hat, and it's simply perfection. It's not the cheapest option out there, but when you consider the quality and craftsmanship that goes into each hat, it's absolutely worth every penny.
If you're in Houston and looking for a high-quality cowboy hat, The Hat Company is the place to go. Not only will you walk away with an exceptional hat, but you'll also enjoy an experience that's as unique and memorable as...
