Thorn & Moon Apothecary — Attraction in Houston

I really liked this place my first visit, But I took my friend yesterday talking the location up and saying how happy I was to find this place.. We went to the back area room past the kitchen and hallway and there was oils that I saw on a small shelf that I was really interested in, they had testers so I was smelling the testers and then when I put one back the whole shelf easily shifted under the unsteady grounding it was on and all the oils fell easily and one broke.. feeling horrible I apologized a bunch and even mentioned that I was going to buy one, then one of the workers told me “that’s good because unfortunately we have a you break it you buy it policy” which really hurt my feelings considering when she was putting the oils back herself they fell on her as well.. She even mentioned that the shelf is not stable and it happens frequently. I wasn’t upset about the you break it you buy it policy but it offended me that it was an obvious accident that wasn’t entirely my fault and even happened to the worker right in front of me. Also the manager was right there and stayed silent, didn’t even apologize or anything, or mention she’s going to change the shelf.. so be aware of this self.. I would have come back if it wasn’t for this situation but I will not be returning. I felt taken advantage of and if charging me for that oil was worth it for them to lose what would have been a loyal customer then I guess that’s what kind of...

A friend of mine took me here today and WOW was I blown away! Upon arriving, the first thing I noticed (besides how charming and beautiful the outside of the shop is) was just how friendly the staff is. They were immediately sooo welcoming and fun to chat with - I love people with great vibes like that :) second, how can I even express how gorgeous and mystical this shop is? Every corner is brimming with treasures. They have absolutely everything you could need relating to witchcraft, the occult, etc. Spell candles, an herb station, crystals, rune stones, abalone shells, sage, altar cloths and other altar adornments, tarot decks, teacups + tea accessories, the list goes on - they have everything! Not to mention tons of cool odds and ends. There’s also a tarot reader who was so kind and I felt like the reading I got was above and beyond for the price. I’ve had readings with other people who charged way more than they delivered. She even taught me some helpful hints to learn how to better read cards, as it’s a skill I’ve been working on honing myself. Oh and the best part? THERE’S A SHOP CAT. As if I wasn’t already living my witchy dreams, feeling like I left my cabin in the woods to walk down cobblestone streets into the local apothecary, a friendly black cat comes up and rubs on my legs. Wonderful selection of dried herbs & flowers, incense, etc! The staff are all so friendly & the shop is very cozy. Extensive collections of crystals, lots of top tier books to choose from! They also have some options for tarot or oracle cards! The shop is orchestrated in a way that feels like you just stepped into an eclectic cottage witch's personal space, but when you pick up different items like some of the decorative boxes, leather bound journals, etc... They've all got a price tag to add them to your own witch's cottage. I personally bought the owner's made in house spray- it smells INCREDIBLE. (I may or may not have used it to guarantee to my daughter that NO monsters would be in her room at night- after all it was made by a very powerful witch) They've also got some stunning jewelry toward the register! Between their in house products, locally made artwork & oddities, & other small businesses on the shelves... It's like a small business co-op for the metaphysical community. I'm obsessed... good thing they have a rewards card- 13 purchases of $13 dollars gives you 13% off ;) *also edited to add, one of the oils I wanted was out of stock as they'd just had a market & the owner immediately checked inventory to see if she could make me one right away.
