This review is not for any of the Faculty. Only the registrars office and Vice Pres. of Academic Affairs at NE. The reason I am giving them such poor review is because I recently had a class cancelled (due to low enrollement). This class was cancelled Wed. and it was supposed to start that Tue. (Mon. was a holiday). I enrolled for this course and others immediately when registration was open to everyone. By them cancelling the course I needed, I ended up having to go to campus because it was no longer an option to add courses in WebAdviser. Once at the NE Registrar's office I was greated by a rude employee. I explained the situation and I asked her what 2314 PSYCH courses were available and she looked at me as if she was annoyed to have to look that up. I no longer had the option on WebAdviser to even see the courses that were being offered by TCC. The Registrars employee then said "all of them?" (making it sound as if there were too many to list). Turns out there were 2. One at SE and the out dated video course (don't recall what those are called). I was pretty much forced to take the SE class. Then the registrars employee said that I could call and check to see if any other courses opened up. (This clearly would never happen due to the fact that the registrars office had a recording saying they were not accepting calls at this time). And they are closed on Friday. I went back Tue. after my first class. I spoke with a new person at the registrars office, I explained to them about the class being cancelled and that I was forced to take the course at SE because I needed to have this required course, but did not want to drive about 80 min each day to get there. He sent me over to the VP of Academic Affairs. I get to the VP's office and he wasn't there. I (among others) waited about 30 min for the VP to show up. Then again waited my turn. I finally got in to speak with him. I had copy of my current schedule so that he could place me in a PSYCH course at NE. So he filled out a carbon slip and handed it to me. I went back over to the registrars to have them make the change. Then I was told by them that the classes were conflicting being they were both at 8am. By that time I was extremely annoyed that they had all pretty much wasted my time. I then started to leave when I remembered that my current 8am class was also being taught at 10am. I then returned to the registrars office and asked the employee if the VP could make the change from my current class to the 10am in order to be able to attend the 8am PSYCH course. She said I would just need for him to enter the information on the paper change slip. So I then return to the VP's office and I explain that the course he initially had written down was at the same time as my other course. He then looked at the 10am course and said it was full. (At that point I was confused, because I was under the impression that the VP was there to do overides). I then ask him to be certain that I understood there was nothing he could do for me. He then rudely said "registration had ended over a week ago and that they (I am guessing he meant TCC) were doing this out of the kindness of their hearts. So needless to say nothing got fixed and I wasted over an hour of my time. Turns out that the 10 am class had a person drop, but due to the HORRIBLE experience and wasted time, I will just keep the schedule I have. Who doesn't enjoy spending over an hour commuting and wasting extra...
Read moreSince coming here, I do realize why people love this campus so much.
The positives: professors are absolutely wonderful. You may fall into the hands of 1 or 2 who are terrible but aside from that, they are incredible. Their programs are abundant and you learn so much from them. The campus is clean and a lot of care is taken into making it look spectacular. The Harwood apartments across the street actually give you 15% off your rent if you go to school here. I wish I would have done that before signing a lease where I am now. They have a subway, plenty of computers around the campus, snack machines, and a great library as well. The lines are not long at all for registration and business services. You can tell they work hard to ensure that everyone is taken care of in a timely manner. The counselors are also top notch. The counselor i have is a huge reason why i am successful today.
I can only list a few negatives. When you're waiting for a counselor, it may take a while. There are a lot of counselors that are just walking around and doing nothing while there is a line. This happened to me once before. The parking is awful for visitors. There are only around 20 spots, including handicapped, for visitors. Otherwise, you have to park super far away from the main office. If your company is paying for your school with a voucher, be sure you go to business services and hand it directly to Mary. If there are too many hands in the process, it will get lost. She is the only person I trust to make sure this gets done and my classes are paid for. They lost my paperwork 4 times in the span of 2 weeks until I gave it directly to Mary.
If you are someone who is on probation or suspension and doesnt know how to go about getting enrolled again, start with the counselors. The process is very simple and everyone there at the campus is so understanding. Your education comes first and they totally get that.
All-in-all, I love...
Read moreReally wish I'd listened to the previous reviewers. I've dealt with this school for all of 3 days and have had so much of my time, gas and money wasted. Registered last minute for what was listed as a continuing education Ceramics course, on a Friday. $177, perfect schedule, I hopped on it immediately. Registering was easy, paid cash (DO NOT pay cash), got my receipt and went home. The class was listed as a T & TH class that starts 9/26/2016 (Monday), thought that was weird but went anyway after work (waited over an hour for it to start because I live about 30 miles away but work nearby) only to find out there was no class being held. Very disappointing and frustrating. The next day I attended the class on the actual start date which should have been printed as 9/27/2016, I enjoyed it the instructor seemed great, the participants as well but I noticed that I was the only continuing education applicant and all others were students receiving credits. I went on to learn that because I registered CIE or continuing ed, Im not able to access the course on blackboard (which is where all the information is listed, the supply list, safety documents etc), or communicate with the instructor outside of class. SO the next day I go to the office to see if theres anything that can be done about it, they treat me like an inconvenience, sending me from office to office as if its MY problem and even flat out told me I could not get a refund once I decided I didnt want to deal with all of these inconveniences and requested to be removed from the course. "You don't get a refund" is what I was told flat out by a male rep in the Registrar, and a female rep in CIE. Absurd. They were never apologetic, and are extremely disorganized and careless. DO NOT...
