This place was a pleasant surprise!!!!! We arrived around 6:30, ish, on a Sunday night. It wasn’t very busy at all, which is probably good. Out of all the places we had stopped in or read about online, this place had the Best wine selection! I was too thirsty to get my usual dry red, so I opted for sangria (which was Yummy!). My boyfriend got a basic steamed dog with the onions that come on it and I got clams in garlic butter. Wow, what a meal!!! The hotdog was crazy good, really unbelievably flavorful! And it came with a side salad & potato salad—my bf put salt and pepper on everything but the potato salad had so much flavor, he didn’t even need to add any. The clams were the best I’ve had anywhere in FL (we live on the sw coast)—plump, not gritty, and the garlic butter was Ridiculous! I realize there were some reviews based on very high volume times, but I recommend you check it out during low-volume days or times because it was totally worth it. We wish we had eaten here again last night instead of where we ended up in Crystal River. The server was super friendly, great smile, wonderful service. I asked her name, but I have since forgotten…shorter brown hair, very sweet. Thank you for everything! Edit: we liked it so much, we had to stop in for one last meal before we left town!! Pics attached—tacos & that delicious hot dog. Not pictured: spicy boiled peanuts for the ride home!

We visited for the first time on an early afternoon weekday when the restaurant was not busy. Our server was the only one on the floor, plus the lady behind the bar. The server was very young with a kind and happy personality. She checked on us often and kept drinks full. The menu had a ton of variety, and we also had a specials menu. We ended up choosing the meatloaf special and sausage and pepper sliders. The food came out pretty quickly and was cooked great! I was shocked how large the meatloaf special was for a lunch portion! Also, it was absolutely delicious! My boyfriend loved his sliders. We were overall very happy with the visit and whole experience. Note, I saw a few options for a loaded meat potato on the special menu for only $8! That seems like an amazing deal in today's economy. If I lived in the area, I could see myself being a regular at Salty Dogs. Great vibes all around!

Not a bad place to eat...food is pretty good.. nothing is fried ( thank God!)...you can certainly request a custom type meal and they will accommodate...example: I'm a whole food/ plant based person and I had the chef make me a wrap with grilled mushrooms and onions, peppers etc.. it was actually really good for his first time making it!! .. If you like wine, they have some really nice Cabs from Napa Valley!! Bar staff is very nice and they do have outdoor seating...puppy dog friendly!..UPDATE!! ..Went there on the 29th of August and asked them to custom make me a baked potato...and, the Chefs did an AMAZING job!! I've included an additional photo and I asked them to add it to the menu as the "Kitchen Sink Potato!" .. all sorts of peppers grilled peppers, grilled onions, pickles...etc!! It was AWESOME!! ..Stop by and say hi to Kaela at the bar..ask for the Kitchen Sink Potato!šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Let me tell you, I REGRET waiting this long. This whole meal was phenomenal.

Let me start with Karah, our server. If you haven't had the pleasure. Let me recommend it. She was fun, witty, on point with recommendations, and fast. A real credit to any establishment.

The nacho potato skins were out of the world good. Chili is great, good flavor, good texture, great amount. Plentiful toppings. You couldn't ask for better portions.

The shrimp cocktail was a firm bite of wonderful flavor and an amazing cocktail sauce I'm confident was not bottled.

The Ruben had everyone agreeing that this was definitely top tier and so perfectly assembled and tasty.

The pastrami was a good bite. My husband happily demolished a half the sandwich with glee.

The MOJO pork tacos. Folks...if you haven't had the pleasure? Please...do. We happily all tackled this trio as though they would disappear.

The side salads? Perfect. Not your bland iceberg and dressing. And the dressing? Perfect.

The tiny potatoes side dish? If you're wondering? Yes, you should.

Desserts? I can recommend the peanut butter pie, banana fosters cheesecake, and lord have mercy that key lime!!!

And portions? Please have no fear. You cannot possibly go home hungry unless it's by choice. There were extras for lunch tomorrow!!!

The whole staff should be pleased with themselves and the kitchen crew needs a bonus. Whoever set up that Playlist needs a raise. You can't loose here unless you've got dead taste buds, no taste in music, and poor manners.

As always folks tip your service staff. And...

Very disappointed in the service.... Our niece and nephew suggested going there because they had been there once and had a great experience, unfortunately though, we did not get that same great experience. Our waitress (young, blond gal) was unaccommodating, slow and unwelcoming. There was only one other table besides our party of six. The original girl who halfway greeted us took our drink order and then when the drinks finally arrived, the other waitress was unapologetic about how long it took. Our lunch was mediocre although I do have to say that the lobster bisque was phenomenal. I had the prime rib sandwich and it just didn't have a whole lot of flavor to it. Everyone else at my table seemed okay with their lunch. The baked potato looked phenomenal as well. The waitress seemed bothered anytime we asked her for something. I made the mistake of requesting a cup of hot water because I had a piece of coleslaw stuck in my throat, and the waitress just said we don't do that... Really? You can't heat up a cup of water in the microwave? How do you clean without hot water? When we left there was absolutely no one else in the restaurant and our waitress should behind the bar turned her back and acted like she was doing something instead of saying, "thanks for coming" or "have a nice day." This place isn't going to survive if you don't get better...
