Ok! I'd like to preface that I've been here once before, during Covid, and the food was very marginal. However, we brushed it off to being new during a pandemic!
So, here is my experience tonight! 8/24/24 time approx 8:30-40ish!
Here was my order: 2 Philly rolls, 2 sweet potato rolls, I slice of the fried cheesecake. $35. I got the order to-go, as I live right down the street!
Pros: The presentation was nice, that's it! That's the only good I can say about this meal!
Cons: the sweet potato in my sweet potato roll was vastly undercooked! I could've kept the underseasoned rice, and mushy old avocado to myself, maybe people like that! So the cheesecake, that I was really looking forward to was a gelatinous concoction that was wrapped in a thick breaded coating that not even my fork could penetrate! I had to cut into with a steak knife, that Ozzie's out a whit substance that loosely resembled cheesecake, without cheesecake flavor! Way to go Kawa! First piece of cheesecake that I didn't eat! Anywho, the sweet potato was vastly undercooked! It wasn't Al dente, it was raw! When I called the restaurant to explain that, the managers response it's fried... I get that it's fried, however the vegetable wasn't fried long enough to cook! The manager said she would make me another one, but I have to go there to eat it in the restaurant. I feel that is more of a punishment than a solution and I refused and she said "she's ok with it" and hung up! That's fine, chase away a person who was willing to give you a chance to fix it! So Kawa, seeing how you only had 3 paying patrons in your establishment at 8:30 on a Saturday night, I included myself in that number, while the surrounding restaurants were packed with patrons . Keep my $$ something tells me you're...
Read moreI am in the restaurant industry and visited this establishment for the first time yesterday in an attempt to grab a nice lunch around 2pm. This place gets 1 star for aesthetics and cleanliness, 1 star for food presentation and freshness, -3 stars for service.
I love sushi. I was excited to try this place. I ordered the wrong thing mistakenly thinking it was another thing. I explained exactly what I was looking for when I ordered, but my server couldn't understand me. He was visibly getting frustrated because I couldnt understand him either. I am patient and dont mind slowing down to get over cultural barriers in speech, but he was visibly becoming annoyed with me. I explained what I was looking for. A piece of raw spicy tuna on top of a rice ball. When my meal came out it was not what I wanted. I patiently asked a nice blonde female server what I would have needed to order to get what I was looking for and an older asian lady came over and told me she heard my order and I ordered the wrong thing and that it's my fault. She had a raised voice too. Twice when I was there did I have people raise their voice to me out of frustration. I've never had that happen to me ever. I'm a waiter. I'm not a hard person to please. That I couldn'tolerate. I left 20 dollars so there wasnt a further arguement, stood up and left without eating a bite if my food. I paid 20 dollars for nothing. It's a shame I was looking forward to this place. I'll try this place again maybe in a few months to see if I can have a better experiance, but the owners really should consider hiring a manager for this place who would be able to communicate well with their clientele and promote this establishment in a...
Read morePro: The restaurant atmosphere was kinda cute.
Cons: The food was terrible. We got a gyoza appetizer, which was not fully cooked, nothing like biting into cold bits.
My entree came with soup and salad. The soup was like hot, brown water with little bits of mushroom floating around, the salad was drenched in a dressing that seemed to be a mixture of ketchup and sweet french dressing.
I got the shrimp tempura with veggies, which was served with white rice. The rice tasted bland, and had a texture like it had been sitting around for hours. The tempura veggies were soggy, oily, thick, and were not cooked through. The shrimp were not coated in the same batter, I suspect they were pre-packaged, and so bland. I could only taste the oil.
My veggies were sweet potato that were not soft, and really could have passed for any other veggie in flavor. There was a whole piece of okra, that still had the top on it.
My husband got two sushi rolls, the sweet potato in his roll was undercooked, and his shrimp tempura roll was ok, but both rolls had a thick layer of eel sauce on them which further buried their flavor.
I can see why no one asked us how our meal was, the waiter didn't raise an eyebrow when he took away my nearly full plates.
I considered saying something, but I didn't want to be accused of trying to get a free meal. I feel really bad for anyone who has their first Japanese meal experience here, it will probably put them off every...
