My first time coming in this establishment I was looked at by all the employees crazy. Seeing as this salon is probably more visited by Caucasian women,my hair type was probably a very rare breed. Which is understandable, but if you're licensed to do hair, then you should be capable to do all types of hair-- as a professional. No one really greeted me, but proceeded to greet the other guests who came in after me. I then finally reach out to an employee for help on signing in, as I have not made an appointment. I tell her I want my hair dyed-- ombre, and she proceeds to sign me in. Eventually I noticed a black woman, who probably has more similar hair to mine and I approach her as she works on a client. I request her to do my hair, I think her name was tIffany, and she was very kind and helpful and tells me she can be with me after her current client. But eventually a woman comes over and tells me that Tiffany will be busy with a treatment for an hour and that she wont be able to help me. Which was a bit inconvenient because now I had to call my friend to come pick me back up AFTER He just dropped me off. I asked if there was anyone else, because there were two employees sitting in their styling chairs, but the woman proceeds to tell me they arent "comfortable "doing my kind of hair. I was offended honestly, because my hair is just curly. If you are licensed to do hair, you should be knowledgeable-- not just in Caucasian/straight hair. All in all, she offers to help me, and do my hair herself. And she goes to give me an estimate for how much for my ombre, and trim of the ends. She returns with an estimate of 165$. I honestly felt like because of my hair type, the price was raised? But my hair is healthy-- i see no reason for me to be charged more vs someone with straighter hair. She says she can do it for me tomorrow, and trust I did not show up, nor did I mke an appointment because that is a damn near 200$ just for a lighter brown color on the already brown ends of my hair.
I return via recommendation of my friend, but this time she tells me to go to STEPHANIE. Stephanie was incredibly skilled, she made me feel extremely comfortable, and talked me through getting my first color treatment, and we actually ended up lightening my hair instead. She told me what products to use, how to take care of it, and how to lessen the damage on my hair. She also didn't cause me any pain while combing through my thick hair, and seemed to know EXACTLY what she was doing. She was also very friendly, funny, and overall a professional. She used all the correct products that even i would use on my naturally curly hair, and made sure my hair was brittle or dry. She also told me EXACTLY what she was putting in my hair, BEFORE she did-- which relaxed me knowing there wasn;t any funny business going on. The color came out absolutely perfect, and she even helped me pick out a hair mask that works EXTREMELY WELL ON MY HAIR, and honestly, my hair looks healthier than it ever has. She did a lightener, instead of dying it, then she trimmed the ends , and did a protein treatment. All of that for 95$!!! Compared tot he 165 the previous woman almost charged me for only the dye and trim, I am extremely satisfied.
If you have ethnic hair, curly, kinky, coily, hair and want to see a professional, I HIGHLYYYY recommend Stephanie, and woman with short hair with blonde streaks. She's great! Will be coming back to her for a touch up when needed. The only reason I am giving this a 3 is because of stephanie. Without her this place would have gotten a 1.
Customer service is def needed for employees. Don't stair at darker skinned customers like a ghost. Its rude! Our hair...
Read moreLet me just start off by saying I have curly hair. Curly, thick, doesn't know what it wants hair. So, I'm always skeptical of going in to big chain salons because of a previous bad experience with someone who didn't know how to cut curly hair (I ended up looking like an evil minion from despicable me). My personal stylist was on vacation and my hair just couldn't wait. I went in with low expectations, and just figured that if anything bad happened, I would just keep my hair in a ponytail until it grows out. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and was greeted with a big smile and a wonderful compliment (She said my curls were beautiful) from my stylist Sunserious, or Sun as she asked to be called. Sun was so wonderful! She listening to everything I wanted, making sure to really look at my pictures to understand what was important to me when it came to the cut.
She did cut my hair wet, which I honestly prefer, as my curls are more apparent when they're wet, but she compensated for it by leaving it a little long so it would still be long enough for my ponytail (my only rule ) when it shrank. I was even more impressed when she used a sulfate free shampoo on me without me even telling her that I was using the curly girl method. She engaged me the whole time, even asking me at one point if the length was looking okay.
When my hair was finally finished, she didn't push me to blowdry, which is a huge deal to me. It may seem stupid, but all my life I've been pushed to straighten my hair after a cut, even though I were my hair curly. She put product in it, scrunched my hair in the way she saw me do, and let me play around with it.
I am not only completely in love with my cut, but also with my stylist. She made my hair look and feel healthy and bouncy, and was super attentive. I will definitely be returning back to her! And the price was AMAZING for the work...

my husband went to the salon to speak to the manager because he was unhappy with the price I was charged for the limited services I received.
My gift card was for $150 (color & highlights) I only received the full highlight ($80) and was charged extra for the services which are included (chemical treatment, etc.) So much for "not price gouging" me.. so now I get to call and make a complaint and try to get my money back.
NEVER USING THIS PLACE AGAIN.
I called ahead to get an idea of how I was going to use my gift card. I'm much too young for all these grays so I was planning for highlights/cover-up. I spoke with Jennifer and she said to just ask for her when I got there. After my horrible experience at the nail salon next door I needed a refreshing change of pace.
I don't know her name but one lady at the register wasn't engaging customers at all and the other ladies were irritated about it. Otherwise, the place was clean (and busy) and all of the other ladies were super up-beat and happy to be helping customers. Lots of kids coming in for back-to-school cuts and such (busy).
I waited about 30 or minutes for Jen and ALMOST went ahead with someone else but I AM SO GLAD I DIDN'T! She was amazing and loves what she does. She knew I had never colored my hair before and that I just wanted the grays gone! She mixed up some stuffs and went to work. We spoke and laughed and really just made it fun! She gave me cheesecake! HOMEMADE CHEESECAKE!! we really go along well and I will keep going back to her for sure. 3+ hours later I felt like a new...
